There's a difference between cryo and houses method of stasis. Cryo keeps you frozen but preserved and the method house uses just keeps him alive and conscious, connected to the lucky 38 tower and his vault.
I'm sorry, it's just another thread is just going apeshit on Fallout 4 and Beth, and it's a long story but essentially I'm trying to keep my optimism of gaming, in an online/industry that would rather make me feel like all my history of loving video games just results in a world of almosts, ok games, and overall bad games.
Where I want to just send a paper letter to Bethesda letting them know everything I think about Fallout 4, and how it would just be good to let someone else work on Fallout, and just let them keep and publish the IP. Todd is the last likeable AAA dev in an industry filled with cringy adults trying to meme their way to likability, or corporate robots that will drag some has-been sports star I've never seen before just to promote another sports game.
Even Valve, once the mighty herald of good gaming, is just a slog of laziness and money making, fully letting Half Life's corpse to rot in a closet, and getting another closet ready for Team Fortress 2, a game I've loved, adored, and put the most hours of gaming into since 2008! Now it's just a slowly dying game of 24/7 2fort and Dustbowl, trading servers and other gimmick servers, and even using CS:GO's crate system to make more money. Not to mention Steam is just a bloated mess with Greenlight and Early Access being the worst parts of it.
I probably just de-railed the thread to all hell, but I guess I got all of that out of me. I just want to love video games, I just wish I had more power to tell someone when something is a bad idea, I want to see them as the fun-loving places of awesome I saw as a young child.
Hey, the Witcher guys are still around, if that helps.
Y'all remember that one army dude in Fallout 2 who left a cryochamber and once he exerted any amount of movement he collapsed into goo?
I forget if that was cut and re-added by mods but idk how Bethesda overlooked that.

Not the same cryogenic process. Dobbs was submerged in gel and then frozen, while the Fallout 4 process freezes you and puts your health on check via life support.
Besides, the method shown in Fallout 4 is not viable on long periods of time because the life support units are extremely demanding on the power supply and a single failure can kill practically everybody. The only reason the sole survivor makes it out is sheer luck.
It's possible that this method was simply researched by a different medical group than whoever came up with the frozen gel technique, and the army was financing vault tec to research it further via vault 111. Wouldn't be the only vault that the army commissioned.

House isn't on cryo or on stasis, he's just plugged to really thorough life support. He used to be on stasis but only remained as such for about sixty years. By the time NV happens he's been awake for a very long time.

Once again, it's difficult to believe Bethesda intentionally planned any of that. It seems more likely to me that they thought cyro was a cool idea in order to bring the player from pre-war to post war, without putting much thought into it's impact on the lore.

Yeah cause that's what writing teams do, they just smash shit together till it works

this is bethesda you're talking about
this is bethesda with a treasure cove of inconsistencies and retcons in their fallout lore
this is bethesda that had their PR guy respond to people asking about inconsistencies with "i dont care lol"
if they're putting as much thought into their writing as you hope, then all that does is prove that they don't care, which is arguably worse than incompetence.

I just don't understand how you can try to say that these people (who are near giants in the industry) are incompetent purely because you don't like their shit lol

i love bethesda, my man. i've loved every game they've ever released (well, bethbyro games anyway). but i know im not the only one who understands that fallout surrenders to the rule of cool, and that rule dictates a whole lot. i don't find it hard to believe that it dictates the writing, too.
i also don't believe their status as "industry giants" makes them immune to making mistakes, either. i think it's naive to expect that they don't make mistakes, actually.
I know I'm late, but this is the power armor execution animation if anyone is still curious.

I got it pretty consistently when in third person, mashing the heavy attack, and while they were facing me. Didn't really occur in first person.

I never once said that lmfao, I just don't buy into the mindset of 'lmao beths writers are monkies on typewriters' either, like people seem to think is the truth
I've gotten the power armor execution once and I was using a rolling pin
there's an unarmed one too
I never once said that lmfao, I just don't buy into the mindset of 'lmao beths writers are monkies on typewriters' either, like people seem to think is the truth
just like i never said that they were flat out incompetent. being unable or unwilling to adhere to previously established game lore does not a bad developer make. in fact, i don't think any of us would be comfortable saying that their writers are "monkies on typewriters", because bethseda has produced some, at least in my opinion, stellar writing in some cases. my problem is, this is nearly never seen in the fallout series.
just so you know, when i used the word "incompetent", i was using it as a contrast to your assertion that they have an incredibly comprehensive writing process, especially when it comes down to things like cyropods fitting into the lore. all i meant to say was, if they did consider the whole cyro thing when they were writing, they chose to ignore it's previous incarnation of it. this would mean that they just dont care, and i would prefer awful writers to writers who just don't care.

Man, them classic feels

Not that I have anything against inon zur, he produced some fantastic music this time around, but I really really hope if obsidian does another fallout game, they'll hire mark morgan to make some new tracks. Have zur do the main theme and combat music for an epic feeling, and have mark morgan produce new ambient tracks for sheer atmosphere.

I really want to use this mod but often times it causes battle music not to play, instead it keeps playing the fo1/fo2 ambient and can be really jarring.
-Snip, picked it up-
I wouldn't mind hearing Mark Morgan's shot at a Beth-fallout themed soundtrack but I don't think the OST of the classic games work too well with Fallout 4. They're designed for deserts and arid environments, not for temperate forests on the east coast.
It works alright for Fallout 3 since it's a lot more arid though.
So, The Institute was mentioned in a single quest in Fallout 3 and NOW they are a major faction. With that ideology, I bet the Atom Cats end up some kind of major power in Fallout 5.
I am well aware that there is a difference between a scientific institute thats been around for hundreds of years with near infinite resources and some greasers who work with power armor.
Hey anything is possible if some random bomb-worshipping cult can also become a serious group that poses a threat to outsiders. Who knows, maybe the Tunnel Snakes will be the next big gang around town.

The Children of Atom weren't just Confessor Cromwell and pals in Megaton. They're a large enough group that they had a splinter group in Fallout 3, the Apostle of the Holy Light.
And they worship radiation in general, the Megaton nuke just happens to be especially sacred as the bringer of the Division.
