Also the DLC had better do something with the fact that were in Lovecraft County, I want them to take this chance and go for a full blown Lovecraft DLC.
Fuck no. Lovecraft shit does not belong in everything and especially not Fallout. I'm fine with a couple of odd references or the Dunwich buildings but making that stuff canon would be shit.

I agree, plus the fact that Fallout doesn't really do much with Lovecraftian stuff. The Dunwich buildings are ~*~spoopy~*~ with minor Lovecraft themes, but Beth couldn't pull off a full DLC about it, without majorly letting down Lovecraft fans or just Fallout fans in general.
Looking forward to a follow up on what we saw in the Borers in some DLC similar to the Point Lookout quest with the book, but that's all I would hope.
What is Lovecraft?

I just really like how Beth handles the Lovecraft stuff, plus I guess a part of me wants to see them do a Call of Cthulhu again.
Point Lookout especially really get me into that vibe. I suppose I can accept your reasons though, still I just want a good Lovecraft game that's not locked on the fucking PS4.

A man named HP Lovecraft who's known for writing Cosmic Horror Stories.
What is Lovecraft?
One of my most favorite writers. I like him because his monsters are different from your typical Gothic Bram Stoker-esque horror monsters.
Does the name Cthulhu ring a bell, or this image perhaps?

If so, he was created by Lovecraft.
What is Lovecraft?
Wall of text inbound:
People brought up Cthulhu, but honestly that's just the "public face" of his works, and I think maybe (pardon me if I come off as a hipster here) a lot of people have just heard of Cthulhu as this "blargh gonna suck out your sanity" tentacle-faced guy and just assume tentacles and creepy things are what makes something Lovecraftian.
H.P. Lovecraft was a horror writer (and author of pulp fiction) in the 20s and 30s who became known for his particular brand of horror (I think it was more psychological horror?) that emphasized the smallness of humanity compared to a much greater, impersonal cosmos filled with beings that existed on such a scale of time/dimensionality that they were barely comprehensible to humans and gave absolutely zero shits about human life. One of Lovecraft's famous quotes is "The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents" to give you sort of an idea of the attitude he had. His writing was important in part because it diverged greatly from the sort of commonly-accepted notion that the universe existed in the hands of a caring and powerful god with a vested personal interest in humanity.
Much of his mythos (he wrote a lot) revolved around humans having small, brief interactions with the world beyond the normal and coming away from such encounters thoroughly shaken and changed. People driven mad by experiencing things they can't entirely comprehend is a common theme in his work, along with things like cults and ancient artifacts that exert or embody dark influences. There was some Lovecraftian stuff in the Point Lookout DLC as well as the Dunwich Building in FO3 (Dunwich being the name of a town in one of his stories) and Massachusetts was where he lived and set many of his stories, hence people thinking DLC with those kind of creepy elements/themes would fit well in the game. They could probably fit well if properly executed, but relying on Bethesda for proper execution of something nuanced is literally a joke at this point.
imo, that spot in the dunwich borers (where you find kremvh's tooth) is the entrance to r'lyeh

...No? It's a city sunken in the middle of the ocean.
Lovecraft and his friend/co-author August Derleth gave different but similar coordinates placing it in the most remote part of the Pacific.

Bethesda would suck writing Lovecraft for the same reason they suck writing Fallout--they understand their source material in terms of ambiance and branding elements instead of tone or themes.
Moody lighting - Check
Spooks - Check
Barely pronounceable gibberish names - Check
late 1800s to early 1900s paraphernalia - Check, check, and motherfucking check
Fear of the unknown and unknowable - That basically just means spooks, right?
The futility of struggle and the false promise of progress - But players are supposed to win all the time, that's how it's supposed to be.
Humanity's cosmic smallness, powerlessness, and ignorance - I think humanity's pretty great, so I don't know what you're talking about.

Hell I don't know why they didn't just make her scottish, everything about her would have basically plugged in the same.

It's not, because R'yleh is in the middle of the South Pacific somewhere off the coast from South America.

As far as I know, the eldritch stuff in Fallout has been different from anything in actual Lovecraft writing. It wouldn't be R'lyeh, it'd be some equivalent location.
Also as others said R'lyeh is in the ocean
Why are you using the Bobble Girl - with Slooty Vault Suit mod?
I dunno, normally I think those kinda mods are fucking terrible, but I found that one really cute.
Figured why the hell not.
I see noting majorly wrong with it really. It's not like the Shadbase models where you can actually have them naked.

why does it matter?
is it taboo/offensive to be found using them?

People seem to have a problem with NSFW or Slutty/Sexy mods.
The Slooty Vault Suit being the most popular one that isn't the CBBE body.
I didn't even know the Slooty Vaultsuit was an actual mod. I thought it was just something the dude/gal who made the bobblehead mod made up to have a funny sounding title
But personally I don't have a huge problem with sexy mods, I just would like them all to stay on loverslab or something and not really be on the nexus and away from me
Y'know I think the leveling system in this game is pretty funny to think about realistically
like after your character does enough things they pull out this big poster with a bunch of cartoons on it and put a star near something and suddenly they can breathe underwater

I dont think its the fact its NSFW (actually it isnt really nsfw, i mean its not naked or anything, compared to OTHERS buried in the deep of Nexus) but the fact its based on Vault Meat and all those rule 34 from deviant, that really make people cringe
I made a little main menu replacer for myself.
Figured I'd share
