Hey guys, how much different is modeling for Dota than TF2?
Very different.
Hence the question :u how different?
Highpoly modeling, shader masks, normal map baking, light maps, sculpting, very low poly requirements.
Oh jeez. I don't think I'm ready for that.
Also the theme is much stricter, see Alpine Set (got removed for being too out of the box).
I think I've asked before but I don't remember getting an answer. Is there a way to add something to a character's chin/jaw bone and have it move with the facial flexes? Or is dota not equipped for that? I haven't tried any items like that yet so I have no idea.

Interesting. What about the templar assassin's standard mouth cover? That seems to move with her jaw. That stuff isn't possible unless valve works on it?

Probably to a pretty big degree though Storm was also taken down so I'm not sure what that could mean.

We're just about done with our set, aside from some final details/polish on the lion's face and the mask textures. Over the weekend we'll post shots in-game, as well.

The lion looks... Weird. Kinda like a statue or something. Or a plastic bobblehead lion.

Yeah, it's pretty large, lions have really large heads though, and the face needs to be in a certain spot. Our plan right now is to make the eyes a little bigger and increase the expressiveness in the face. That should help with the scale that you're talking about, and the 1000 yard stare.

They had said that Veno was getting a redesign, so that's why they didn't award the awesome polycount set for him any accolades because it would have had to be redone with the new model. Personaly I can't wait for the new model, but I hope he's still a bit of a banana slug.

I kind of want him to be a more humanoid looking character with the mutated physical attributes/face of the current model... that would be pretty awesome and easier to make cosmetics for..

I doubt it's because of cosmetics, because there were some awesome polycount sets for him. It's probably like the veng model update; it won't change too much but will make him more polished.

I agree, that tranny mirana and her tiger badly need a revision, but maybe this veno update has been in the works for awhile?

Finished detailing out the lion's face and some other little adjustments here and there. I'm likin' it! We also made the eyes bigger, which should help with the scale of the head, though you can't tell from this gif, 'cause it's just the old texture on the revised model.

It's been in the works for awhile. When polycount was going to do their monthly competition for april, the heroes were going to be PA, veno, and ogre. Someone asked valve if any of those heroes were going to change, and they said they were going to change PA's face, and had big changes for veno on the way, this was back in march that they said this. Polycount switched veno out for dark seer for the comp.
