that's actually one of the biggest things I look for in items
i mean sure it's nice that you made this elaborate 30-piece set for slark, but if i can't actually use any part of it without it looking dumb or boring because i don't have every other part then I don't give a shit

This, this right here.
A perfect example is the new Centaur set: every piece along fits real nice by his own and in the other side of the bar, the Silencer set is awful alone. Every piece is so damn big it looks like it came from WH40k.

Yeah I like that set too. Another great example is the Snowdrop one - it looks fabulous all together, but I can just mix it up with other things where I want without it looking awful. I can put the Mantle and the Crystalline Tiara together without it looking like ass (in fact it looks pretty as heck)
not like that new Rubick set that even clips with Rubick's defaults...
I think it needs to be a rule that all cosmetics need to work with defaults without major clipping

Disregard the helmet and shield with X next to them, they were the initial ideas and they were awful. I personally like helmet A with weapon D, but I do realize the helmet lacks visual interest compared to the dragonskin, so perhaps either B or C would work better in this case.

That yellow cat looks like it knows where your teammate hid your Armlet, but it isn't going to tell you. Love the way it looks.
The blue and red ones are okay, but I think the purple one is a bit dull in comparison. Stellar job on the models though.

Thanks! That's where we were going with that one, so I'm glad that's coming across. And yeah, the purple guy even used to be brown and was meant to be more toned back for an earlier plan we had (which was the jumping point for the rest of them), so we've been trying to jazz him back up since then. Thanks for the info, Dry says he's gonna mess with his face tonight a little more before we call it, to help him stand out on his own a bit more.

I really want to try making an item but I fail at making details. Like, what do I need to keep in mind while sketching the design? How do you not make it look ugly and bland without adding in too much detail?

Whats the easiest way to change a low poly model's size after it is textured and normal mapped? Would I have to redo the sculpt or could i manipulate the original normal map to fit on the new reUV'd object?
