After 18 hours I just reached Skyhold. This game really gives the same feeling Origins gave to me, although with a bit worse writing. Cole is terrible and i regret i didnt kick him out. And (First Skyhold visit spoiler) [sp]Female hawkes voice is super low and sounds like a bad mod, sounds nowhere near how she did in DA2[/sp]
The writing I feel has always been best around the main quest. And I feel like the sheer amount of content can make up for a bit of worse writing. Its easily bigger than Origins though, much bigger.
Quality quest writing at work.
So it`s more like DAO, then? I have a copy arriving tomorrow and after recently finishing BG I would love to know if the top down tactical view is any good
Okay, what the hell. This Whirlwind ability is straight up super misleading. [t]http://i.imgur.com/9wH6ME1.png[/t] The icon shares the arrowed vectors on the top on bottom corners for a sustained/toggled ability, and its upgrade implies it is sustained. And yet, no matter how I try to activate it, he only spins twice, delivering paltry amounts of damage for an insanely long cooldown. Good thing those respec amulets aren't too expensive. The elevation and angle of the camera in tactical view are linked; At the max zoom (which isn't too far) you can only have a straight down view. The further isometric you make the camera, the further down to the ground it goes. Also, the cursor for the tactical view the camera is centered on behaves like a unit in itself (ie you have to maneuver it AROUND obstacles) and the camera is blocked by geometry instead of phased through the ceilings, so it's useless in an indoors fight.
Having played for 3 hours, I still can't decide if I want to keep it or return it... Running out of time on my 24 hour period.
Having played for about 16 hours of this game and I haven't even gotten skyhold yet I can easily say this is a fun game. Comabt is meh but regardless is fun.
Having played for 3 hours, I still can't decide if I want to keep it or return it... Running out of time on my 24 hour period.
I had the same struggle, now I'm 31 hours in and do not regret buying it. Getting mad DAO vibes.
Hmmm. Is there any sort of weapon swap or would I need to manually switch to daggers to use a dagger skill if I learned one?

My biggest problem with this game is my own damn indecision. I've made 6 characters so far and because I can't decide which I wanted to play, only 1 has completed the first quest after the title screen... I've spent hours in this game and 90% of it has been in the character creator and intro...
[sp] Should I side with the Mages or Templars?[/sp]
[sp] Should I side with the Mages or Templars?[/sp]
Mages for life.
I've still only been playing the multiplayer. Necromancer is OP, sort of. There's a skill I call The Gift That Keeps On Giving. You cast it on a baddie, it does DoT damage and then explodes (Or you can toggle the explosion when you want) When it explodes (Either by you, expiration, or it dying), it does damage to itself and near by enemies, and it applies it to those near by enemies. When those enemies die, they explode, spreading and damaging again. The explosion also knocks enemies down. Now imagine just a chain reaction that kills an entire group Then, For every enemy that dies, I heal 4% of my health and make a quarter of my Mana back. A 10 kill streak sounded like so: BoomBoomBoomBoomBoomBoomBoomBoomBoomBoom with red gibs flying all over the fucking place
Who ever coded the tact-cam for this needs to suck on hot coals. Jesus fuck the controls for it are DESIGNED for a console.
ok i have been broken down, i'll go buy this tomorrow probably
So is this game worth picking up? I'll be waiting for a sale, but I've heard both good and bad things about it.
Definitely worth picking up when it goes on sale.
I've still only been playing the multiplayer.
Why?
So. Does becoming a blood mage have any weight in DA:I? I always wondered why everyone was getting shit for using it except the protagonist.

Well, having played for a few hours I can say this is the nicest Witcher game Bioware ever made. The first hint was the search key for finding interactable objects around you. Tied to the "v" key, and with a radar ping effect? It's nice that they managed not to tie it to a magical Witche... er, Inquisitor pendant, but still. And then there's the non-quite-open-world with a open regions for exploration and questing, the colorful, over-elaborate outfits everyone wears, full of belts and pouches and charms, complicated court politics suddenly being a thing, and what now Morrigan is a court wizard like Triss instead of a rebel emo witch? Hell the game even has a first act in a military camp like the Witcher 2. Also singing bards like Skyrim. But hey, at least I can play it as a gigantic horned wizard femshep.
So I used Hola Unblocker to buy it, I don't have to worry about my game being in Spanish or anything do I? :v:
the colorful, over-elaborate outfits everyone wears, full of belts and pouches and charms, complicated court politics suddenly being a thing
To be fair Orlais was established to be like this since DA:O.
To be fair Orlais was established to be like this since DA:O.
Also one of the potential epilogue slides in DA:O mentions that Morrigan got involved in the court of the empress of Orlais.
So it's a more OP version of Virulent Walking Bomb?
Sounds exactly like Virulent Walking bomb, yup.
So. Does becoming a blood mage have any weight in DA:I? I always wondered why everyone was getting shit for using it except the protagonist.
You can't become a blood mage in DA:I, right?
Why the hell are sword hilts so long? and load screens?
You can't become a blood mage in DA:I, right?
I think he's referring to DA2, But correct. Also turns out i had this installed to my portable HDD. that explains the loading screen. oops.
Why the hell are sword hilts so long? and load screens?
Sword hilts tend to actually be far longer than presented in most fantasy settings. Enough room for two big hands with spare space in between for movement, takes a lot to heft a big sharp metal stick. Also your name fits.
