Dragon Age Inquisition Megathread: Bioware's Last Chance Edition

Is there a way to get direct camera control all the time, not just when holding the right mouse button down?
So, I manage to complete act of Dragon Age II. I'm currently going around meeting with my companions to see what they have all being doing in the years between the first act and the second
I'm 100% honest when I say that I don't know what the fuck should I think about this game. And that's a first for me
On one hand, the game looks and feels absolutely rushed. With no fucking shame about it. It's like someone entered the developers' office and ask them to produce something vaguely reminiscent of Origins in one year and half (which was the actual developing cycle for Dragon Age II). And I believed that it couldn't get any worse than the whole Earth and final sequence of Mass Effect 3. I mean, NPCs interactions is minimum, saying that the game recycles dungeons' assets would be a huge understatement, the characters could use more animations, the shopkeepers are plain SAD, the overuse of black screens for menu and party selections, ... You are basically playing the skeleton of Dragon Age Origins
On the other hand, however, I absolutely love the concept of the story: the game's plot isn't a bout an high fantasy demonic invasion but it's about you and your characters trying to survive as better as you can in what is essentially a crapsack world in true low fantasy fashion. At this point in the story none of my companions revealed him/herself to be especially annoying or badly written, so all is even better
Really, now I understand why this is such a divisive game
As someone who's currently playing through DA2, I have to say the vitriol for it is excessive.
Don't get me wrong, I don't think I'm going to break anyone's heart by saying it doesn't hold a candle to the original, but for a game that's so despised, I keep playing through the game asking myself 'why'. Yeah, it has issues (the asset re-use in particular being kind of revolting) but are we really gonna pretend DAO didn't have major issues? The Fade? Orzammar? The fact that some abilities don't function the way they should, with Haste being completely broken if it did? Arcane Warrior? The incredibly lazy design for Sten?
While I can't speak for its overall story, I have to say I prefer DA2's premise over DAO's, at least it's not the same cookie-cutter premise we've seen a billion times before with a few names switched out. If DAO is a delicious chocolate cake, DA2 would be a chocolate eclair; less of the good stuff the cake had but still quite serviceable.
Except Anders. A thousand fuckyou's to whoever's responsible for writing him. You liked the plucky comic relief who was a perfect foil to Oghren? Fuck you, have this dull, humorless dolt. And sorry Adam Howden but you are one REALLY poor Greg Ellis.

The reason pretty much everyone who loved DA:O hates DA2 is because DA2 is not a sequel to DA:O
DA:O is a great throwback to classic computer RPGs with some not too out of place modern sensibilities applied, in an age where big AAA CRPGs were not just a dying breed, but had been dead for years.
DA 2 is not. It completely abandoned the fans of DA:O, so as you can imagine many of those fans were completely disappointed with how much of an utter betrayal it was to the original game.
DA:I Is also not this, but at this point most of those fans no longer really had any expectations for it after DA2, and it probably also helped that there's been kickstarted quite a few new classic CRPGs such as Pillars of Eternity now, so in general people have been more accepting of it.
deffo also didn't help that DA2 was utterly mediocre

I think you're saying it's a bit better than it is, but you're certainly right in the fact that the hatred is sort of uncalled for (in a sense). If the game had come out before DA:O, it would probably be seen much more favorably, the problem is that it was such a disappointing sequel.
Is there a fix for the voice change?
I don't want to be british anymore

oh god why
Solas changes... everything
Nice SolASS.
So yeah, I tried that trick to get free influence points. It works. But know this:
You can only level up Inquisition to level 20, in other words you can't get all the perks. Luckily it's enough for all the good ones.
Are there any serious repercussions to breaking up with someone? I want to try out other romance scenes.
Ehrm, can you help me interpret that without being spoiler-ish?
No matter which side you choose, you fight everything. I mean everything. The boss fight was ridiculous as well. To me, it tried really hard to be this "it's the finale, let's throw an army of shit at your companions and end it."
Can't say I didn't enjoy Dragon Age II, though. Can't wait to get started with Inquisition.
I wonder how long it will take me to beat DA:I. I don't have much time and I do as much side stuff as possible so I don't see myself finishing any time soon.
I want to rant about one thing though. And that is what they did with elves. In DA:O they looked very close to humans (pretty boring). In DA2 they gave them cartoony faces with big eyes. In DA:I they toned down their faces just enough but they also made them shorter and way too slim. Especially male elf looks like a kid. I was considering playing an elf but their tiny build just isn't for me. For example Solas looks way closer to what I'd prefer. He isn't small at all and not super slim.
Can someone explain why [sp]Varric's card on the select screen looks like this?[/sp]

I've heard it happens if [sp]Hawke dies, but she didn't die in my game.[/sp]

[sp]Don't worry, mine was like that as well until I did a companion quest of his. Also Hawke wasn't dead for me either.[/sp]

[sp]At that point in the story he's being haunted by all the shit that's happening because it's indirectly his fault. His card reflects that.
I've had Sera, Blackwall, and Iron Bull's cards change so far.[/sp]
so does each character have like three different cards, or do most of them only have two?
Am I bad or is Hidden Oasis REALLY poorly designed
I like the idea of a more vertical area than normal, but I feel like they could give more direction on how to get to certain parts of it
As is I don't feel like doing anything there at all 'til I've done more of the other zones
i actually really liked hidden oasis

btw make sure you fully open the cold door first, it's the best one
Serious lack of any mention of Shale in DA:I.
[sp]I've been tempted to use Sera because of her changed card, but I remember how much I don't like her crazyness.[/sp]

If that's the case, shouldn't people hate Mass Effect 2 too?
I'm from the school that paints the Mass Effect the first as utterly mediocre but loves the sequel

Lots of people people do hate Mass Effect 2. It's just that that series went the opposite way to Dragon Age. Once ME3 came out ME2 didn't seem nearly as bad in comparison, though the plot and characters were also made completely pointless by ME3.
Does anybody know where to get the regular Grey Warden warrior helmet in DA:I? Not the one with the giant ass wings but this one:
[img_thumb]http://img4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20130224085325/dragonage/images/6/6d/Greywardenwarrior.png[/img_thumb]
I can only find the schematics for the winged one in VR and I saw a Warden wearing the wingless version at one point in the game.
Where the hell do you even get heavy GW armor? I only have light and medium
Where the hell do you even get heavy GW armor? I only have light and medium
Make the Dalish elves in the Exalted Plains happy enough and you can buy a schematic for Heavy GW armor from them
I'm playing Dragon Age II Legacy DLC and fuck [sp]Malvernis[/sp]. Big time
Speaking of which, the [sp]Ancient Rock Wraith[/sp] during the first act climax wasn't a walk in the park either
any way to make the game use user.cfg? I placed it in dai.exe directory but its not working
