Dragon Age Inquisition Megathread: Bioware's Last Chance Edition
Inquisition's combat felt like an MMO but instead of being a teamspeak with about 8-20(Or however many people are allowed in large parties) I'm micromanaging a small team of near retarded AI at times. While the AI is decent enough to kill enemies w/o your help they go full retard when you fight a dragon some times. In short though it's like an MMO w/o actual players to support you and to be fair a dragon age mmo could be done considering you got a lot you can build so and etc.
That's why the multiplayer rules, can't wait for more content. They packed the ME3 multiplayer chock full of free updates

I do love dwarven women myself
An H.R.? Aych-Are? Die pls.
Biggest letdown for me are the keyboard and mouse controls (I want to be able to click on something and go to it etc) and the virtually complete removal of the tactics system. You have to just rely on the bulky, moronic AI. I really miss the whole if->then system.
If shit hits the fan and you really need to make sure the fight gets done right, you need to pause the game literally every 2 seconds and issue commands. If you turn their auto-AI off then there will be wasted time and you are then obligated to control them at all times. If you leave it on, they will use the spare seconds in between the attacks to fuck up everything.
I dunno, I really miss tailoring the AI. You can't even cue up commands or anything.
Other than that, excellent game.
Like in a recent fight I had two guys down and my support mage kept blowing her mana load on giving herself a barrier, which served no purpose since she was in no danger. I set revive to be a preferred spell but she refused to save up enough mana to use it.
However in order to control her manually long enough to prevent her from casting, I had to release control of my main character. But that was no good because my main is a Knight-enchanter and needs to keep on a constant DPS and execute well timed ability usage, so if I stop controlling her then I lose my barrier and might die.
It was just a bad situation with no good solution, purely because of the lack of good controls and competent, configurable AI.
What?
it should be "have a HR department" not an HR.
Oh and the overhead command function is useless, mostly because of the camera. It doesn't zoom out nearly far enough and every time you select a new character to issue a command it snaps the camera to them, so you have to scroll all the way back over to where you were and orientate the camera to how it was
it should be "have a HR department" not an HR.
It's equally correct to put "an" before a h-word (e.g. an hotel, an historic occasion).
[editline].[/editline]
Rate disagree all you want, but that's how English grammar works. And note I said "equally correct", which means the common (a) and traditional (an) are both correct.
What's FP verdict on this? Worth the price of admission? I read some reviews and watched some videos... so I'm interested; but after being burned from DA:II...
depends what it is you want from it
if you want deep strategic RPG mechanics you are shit out of luck, because the combat in this game is shallow as fuck
Pretty damn good game as an action-y RPG though. Tactical mode is fine if you want to use it for 15 seconds sometimes in the middle of a boss battle, but it's hella tedious to do more often than that. I really wish there were more AI options though.
On picking a voice for the hero from DA:O, should he/she ever appear; that's going to be tricky for another reason.
One of the voice actors died.
The guy that voiced Zaeed from Mass Effect, Robin Sachs, died last year.
He's one of the Human Male voices, "Experienced Human Male".

Wow, just heard of this. That's pretty sad to hear.
So next playthrough is in order.
Do I choose a mage or a warrior this time?
I'm thinking either chaotic-neutral mage who wants to free all mages and hates templars or a chaotic-neutral warrior who hates mages.
Agree for Warr, Disagree for Mage.

Cringey but pretty good moment too. Cheesy as fuck but awesome too
Is it odd that I find Cassandra's accent to be ... oddly arousing?
Cringey but pretty good moment too. Cheesy as fuck but awesome too
For me the only cringe in that part came from the mediocre lip-sync and the facial animations not matching the tone; the song itself was quite lovely.
So, I've just cleared the second act of Dragon Age II
Turns out that Captain Salty Bitch [sp]will leave you forever with the Qunari relic and not return to resolve the whole book crysis if you didn't romance her or rised her friendship to a certain level[/sp]. Therefore, I had to face [sp]the Arishok[/sp] in a duel to death, which was easier said than done (I admit I survived due to my DLC dog providing a good distraction and the rogue being the resident OP class)
As of now I don't have any idea about what I'm going to do for the grand finale, if the whole thing is really going to force me to choose a side. One one hand we have Orsino, [sp]who didn't find any problem in mages going full evil and/or having tea with demons, including my mother's murderer[/sp]; on the other hand we have the totally-not-a-nazi Meredith. Also, there is an absent-minded high nun or something, Elthina, who doesn't do jackshit about the whole thing but to spout useless Chanry advices. Great
Aand completed the game, AND IT ONLY TOOK ME 60+ HOURS.
Got more than my moneys worth, and I've still got stuff to do. :D

Don't worry, that happens regardless.
Ha, I fought the Arishok anyway, even though Isabela came back. He demanded to take her with him to face Qunari justice. Nah, man, since you wouldn't let me bring those two elves to justice, you can't have the piratess.
And yeah, the game doesn't do a good job of endearing you to either the mages or the templars. In fact, it's aggravating all around since various people will attack you on sight, even if you're planning to help them out overall.

You were lucky you had the duel, you needed to either get respect of [sp]the Arishok[/sp] or have [sp]Fenris[/sp] on your side to get one, which I had neither, so I had to get fucked by everyone.

Not gonna lie, I hit space a lot but to no effect. It was a nice moment but I was also thinking [sp]we just escaped a huge army. Is it a good idea to have a huge singing moment and alert the enemy who could be still hunting us?[/sp]
Don't worry, that happens regardless.
I quote from the official wiki:
[sp]If you had a high enough friendship/rivalry with Isabela (equal to or more than 50%) she will return with the Relic (Note: this is critical for Supplier achievement). You must now choose whether to give Isabela to the Arishok or not. By refusing to turn Isabela over, you receive +15 friendship with Isabela. If you say that you will punish her, you receive +10 rivalry with Isabela. (Merrill and Aveline will also react with an increase of +10 to friendship for protecting Isabela and +10 rivalry for handing her over.)
If you appease the Arishok by giving him Isabela, you will lose her forever, and he and the rest of the Qunari will leave Kirkwall peacefully. Otherwise you will have to fight.[/sp]
Regardless of this, you must know in advance that:
- [sp]The Arishok[/sp] will consider you a worthy opponent if you go talk to him after or before certain events in both act I and II. You have NO mean to know in advance when and where
- You either romance or spend a lot of time with Isabela, farming her friendship, or [sp]it's a farewell[/sp]
This whole business was a "guide dang it" moment I really hate to encounter in a videogame

This is kinda semi spoiler-y, but no matter which side you chose [sp]you end up killing both of them.[/sp]

That much I knew
I'm just trying to find out a good choice to take, given my character's own story and personality and what I'd personally do if I was in his shoes
After playing DA2 I regret playing as a mage. I don't see myself going back though, DA:I has more than enough stuff to explore but I can see the Keep being a fast way to replay DA2.
Hawke being a mage just doesn't fit. I find it too convenient (read bullshit) that while other mages in Kirkwall are treated like dirt you become the Champion. Another thing I hated about DA2's treatment of mages was the majority of apostates quickly turned to blood magic. In DA:O not every mage that escaped turned instantly evil, not to mention some tried to use blood magic for good, they wanted out of their prison in the tower. In DA2 I helped the mages but boy did I used my memories of DA:O to help me decide. Plus I don't like how templars can give an order that allows them to kill every mage they find. [sp]Still. Fuck you Anders, Fuck you Orsino.[/sp]
I bought the game despite not believing one bit of the hype since 2 got glowing reviews before everyone turned on it. It is okay so far. Cassandra was really pretty in 2 but she looks really rough now. I dig it though.

If you ask me, they wanted to demonize (eh eh eh!) the mages in Dragon Age II because they may have felt that in Origins siding with them and being sympathetic towards the Circle was a bit too easy on the player's part
Of course, they didn't take in account that in doing so they basically created an "evil vs. evil" kind of plot for the sequel, with you having to choose for what you THINK may be the lesser evil
