Well I finally bought Dragon Age Inquisition, but I plan on finishing Origins before moving on to that. I'm at the final fight with the Archdemon...and I can't seem to win. The fight with the demon is decent, but when the Darkspawn start coming out infinitely, screw that victory because erryone keeps DYING! Alistair gets swarmed by Shrieks and alphas, Leliana and Morrigan die should they even breathe on them before repairing the balistas, and my MC keeps using potions and getting knocked down should he go solo on the dragon. The icing on this sucky cake? My Redcliffe troops are 29 strong, my mages 12 strong, my elves 21 strong, and my dwarves 15 strong. Anyway to beat the endgame without resorting to going casual? Tell them that they're twins from another family(If that's possible). If they did that with the Grey Warden Commander, I'd say he's my cousin.
I'd stock up on as many potent health polices and lyrium potions before the fight. IIRC I had around 89 potent health polices and around 70 lyrium potions. Granted I'm a warrior which specializations in Champion and Templar. My set up for the final battle was Leliana,Wyne, and [sp]Broghain[/sp], they I positioned TopLel on some higher ground and that ended up having her not draw a lot of threat while giving ranged DPS, Wynne healed everyone, I mainly delt with the Archdemon and my other warrior generated all the threat possible and got most enemies to surrounded him while TopLel gave out an AOE stun and Wynne healed.
[sp]What's with the closed door guarding all that delicious primeval red lyrium[/sp] on Storm Coast?
It was already posted and it's indeed a War Table mission. [sp]I think it's called Red Templars on the Coast. At least I had Red Templars because I sided with the mages. I'm not sure if you have to fight Venatori if you chose Templars early on. As for when it actually shows up I have no idea. I think you need to be level 16. It will not only give you access to the lyrium but also to another dragon.[/sp]
I went back to Origins to play The Darkspawn Chronicles, and I beheaded Wynne. Appropriately enough, I feel like a total monster. :v:

Leaves a bad taste in my stomach.

Is it just me or is the combat way too hectic for the use of proper tactics at the moment? I mean 4 seconds after the combat starts everything is all over the place because so many enemies have either leap abilities/attacks or just waltz past my warriors/ice walls/ everything to have a go at my mage. Even with the tactical camera it is neigh impossible to keep control over the flow of battle, Especially with those fucking terrors warping all over the place. Not saying its a bad combat system, it just tends to fall into total chaos. And I honestly really miss the old skillsets, there is just so much that feels like its missing.

DAI's combat feels ridiculously clunky if you are a melee fighter, there is ton of stupid hang ups with animations and how it makes you lose control and all that, you also miss a lot if you try to hit anything. [editline]28th December 2014[/editline] Oh and don't get me started on how DAI's AI is ridiculously stupid, starting from how characters follow you, up to what they do in combat, there is also a huge limitation in what you can tell them to do in tactical options, a good workaround this would be as you described a proper tactical camera, it has terrible controls and it's very limited in uses now, the active pause system isn't as responsive as in older Bioware RPG's makes it feel like utterly redundant design which is rather forced on the game, not to mention the only way to see any weaknesses of your opponents is to pause the game and hover over to see it.
It was a great surprise to discover that apparently mage can wear something different than robes and the pieces of your equipment immediately assume the colour scheme of the chest gear
Argh, I've tried it on two computers now but buying from Mexican origin nets me with an error that says:
Error Code 10008 Your order was unable to be processed at this time due to an issue with your provided payment method. Try using a different payment method to complete your order, or simply try again later.
Important question here: does the knight enchanter still wear light armor or he/she must wear heavy armor to perform well?
Important question here: does the knight enchanter still wear light armor or he/she must wear heavy armor to perform well?
KE doesn't rely on armor rating; they use barrier and guard to tank damage. I used crafted light armor with guard on hit and never had a problem tanking damage. Only times my KE went down were if I switched to a party member that was near death to try and save them, then my KE gets alpha'd.
Knight Enchanter needs his skills, barrier, powerful spell(s) and good damage staff. After that he can be naked. And no specialization will change your armor "training". Mages will always wear light, rogues medium, warriors heavy. There are crafting materials that remove these restrictions. If you craft light armor with Dales Loden Wool in the main slot even warrior can wear it. For medium it's Snoufleur Skin and finally heavy uses Silverite.
That's interesting, actually Althought I like magic knights in general, I think I'm still going necromancer just for the chance to have Assandra in my ... I meant, Cassandra. Cassandra in my party.
Starting a new character, already played a Warrior, so help me out. Male Human Mage - Agree Female Human Mage - Disagree Female Elf Rogue - Funny Male Dorf Rogue - Winner Female Dorf Rogue - Zing

You fight in melee range, so when you cast barrier on yourself, your melee party members in the area get it too. Also, once she gets the Templar tree, she makes fighting demons extremely easy.

The former is pretty normal no matter your class although my mage got few comments. Now as an elf I got few racism influenced remarks. I heard qunari get even more hate. Now this is only from what I heard but if you play a dwarf people go "WTF? The Inquisitor is a dwarf? Is that a joke?" like they can't believe it. Remember that race has very little impact on the story, romances are more affected.
Holy shit, I found a mod that adds Hawke and his family to Lothering in Origins. I managed to replace the mod's Hawke's face with my own version from DA2. Do enemy levels scale with the player at rifts? I've had rifts in the Hinterlands where I saved for later because all the demons there were level 8 whilst I was just level 5, but when I come back level 11, everything there shoots up to level 13 and I get revenants spawning in place of rage demons, it just becomes downright unfair or fucking impossible

So it looks like someone had a wine and cheese party. And they partied so hard that they died. But the cheese is still good. Also tiny action figures? What's with all the cheese, Dragon Age?!
Won't lie, [sp]that final battle was totally flaccid.[/sp]
I wish there was an option to hide face paints in conversations, I'm forced to not wear any because so many of them look ridiculous [editline]31st December 2014[/editline] and now they suddenly don't appear anymore, what the hell I suppose this works
Started playing again now that I have an actual copy and not a rental on hard, level 6 Holy fuck, the In Hushed Whispers quest is by far the most annoying quest so far (the quest where you choose to ally with mages) If I knew this place would be a dickgrinder against army after army draining all your potions before an impossibly long boss fight where the boss is immune to pretty much all spellcasting status effects I would have A. Grinded more and B. Brought a lot more fighters A total joke they reccomend level 4-7 for this place. Every enemy is two levels above me except the peons, every fight once inside the throne-room zone requires constant use of tactical camera (except abilities the AI fails at using like charging bull), and by the time I'm at the final boss of the area, who is super immune to most of my party, I only have 1-2 potions for a fight that (no joke) takes 25+ minutes to complete Going to a few minutes before getting the last shard and hope I don't burn through all my potions. Luckily I have a save right before the last supply crate and the last shard you need to get to the throne room. Just need to get through the last shard fight with no potion use (LMAOOOOOOOOO) and I could be fine for the boss fight. Managed to get him to the 2nd rift before I died so if I was fully stocked up I bet I could beat him. Just fucking sucks to be trapped into playing through an annoying area with a party that isn't ideal against the boss encounter you are doing. And sucks to grind through 20 minutes in this boss fight only to die [editline]31st December 2014[/editline]
The healing system of Inquisition annoys me so much. Having only those limited potions and needing to find supply crates. Feels so cheap and less interesting than actual mages that heal your party. Barrier is neat and all but I miss kind of the standard healing spells, furthermore those puny heal percentages on armors suck ass as well. Also the AI is horrible and wastes potions.
I like the potion system for wilderness stuff, in this sense it works like dark souls. Find the next camp to replenish potions. Potions in games otherwise tend to be so easy to abuse or be made useless. Works really well when doing open world exploring on the way to whatever goal you have. I really, really hate the potion system in "lawl linear scripted story mission areas" because it really doesn't fit at all in those zones and makes fights way more uninteresting and annoying than they should be. You either grind grind grind grind against mob after mob till they slowly die then refill at the next potion spot in the following room or you run out of all available potion refills and have an impossible mob/boss fight. They designed the potion system so that there is a good chance you use potions for every encounter. Nice when going against wilderness threats, its stupid when you are going against encounters in scripted missions that expect you to have X amount of potions in order to survive the encounter. Either the fight is super easy but just takes forever or you simply don't have enough potions and GG
What's with all the cheese, Dragon Age?!
Cheese Age confirmed as next age.
Man, why do nearly all mage armors look like ass? The only ones I like are the shitty Inquisition Battlemage set and the Warden Battlemage set that's only tier 2. And I get that Elves are supposed to be lithe, but this game makes it ridiculous. They look like their bones are going to collapse under the weight of their own head.
Please tell me it gets better later on Every armor set I find I for some dumb reason can't equip it on my mage main. The only ones I can are literally just copies/reskins of the starter set with better stats. So I'm stuck with copies of the fugly starter set pretty much the whole time up to level 7 so far. I just assumed that these are intro armors and that it gets better later on.
I'm pretty sure it does get better. I don't play a mage so I'm not certain, but I think crafting might be the key to cool armor. It is for warriors, in any case. You have a little ways to go before finding some better armor, though. Wait til double digits.
Is it just me or the archer in the multiplayer is the only sane man among a cast of sociopaths? I mean, his party banters is all about wanting to return to his clan and being friendly towards the other agents and the rest of the party just bad mouths him all the time
