Is it me or did the recent patch really up the crafting material gain? I don't remember ever getting 8 ores from single piles when I was in the early game.
I notice it happen but for some reason only with veridium, get like 8 pieces from each stack. I never played DA2 because I heard it was bad but they keep referencing it in Inquisition and its getting me interested. Is it as bad as everyone said it was?
Is it me or did the recent patch really up the crafting material gain? I don't know the specific conditions, but the different tiers of ores will start to produce far more per gather eventually. I'm not sure if its tied to player level perhaps, or if it might be a hidden skill level where harvesting more of a particular tier increases your ability to harvest from said tier. But yeah, I noticed this in Emprise De Lion. When I first visited I was only getting one or the rare two metals from veins. But at some point I started getting eight on average from each vein. Now I have many hundreds of Silverite ore because Fade-Touched Silverite is great.

All I appreciate are slightly better graphics (but then there are spots that look pretty bad) and the combat was more action-oriented which I liked. On it's own it's an average RPG but coming from Origins it's a disappointment. Also for DA:I you should get the Legacy DLC because it's the most relevant to DA:I.
I never played DA2 because I heard it was bad but they keep referencing it in Inquisition and its getting me interested. Is it as bad as everyone said it was?
To be honest I actually liked DA2, it surely has its flaws and its inferior to the other 2 games, but after some time I started to enjoy it. The combat and level design are pretty meh-ish, but I really enjoyed the story and the characters a lot. Not to mention the entire Inquisition storyline is built upon DA2 and it's Legacy DLC. I'd say you could give it a go if you can get it for a good price, and go into it with a blank slate and it might just surprise you.
DA2 does a lot of stuff very right, but a lot of stuff very wrong. The way you interact with your party members in depth over the course of several years in-game is awesome. The storylines that evolve over the course of the years are pretty neat. Some of the subversions and general setting weirdness they play with are cool. The loot system is crap. The reuse of maps is mind blowingly awful. The finale is a huge fucking mess. [editline]3rd February 2015[/editline] I could go on, and I think I will. The inability to play as anything but human, after so many options in origins? Terrible. The fact that Hawke's family actually changes appearance based on your choice of template? Pretty neat. The endlessly spawning Hordes of enemies? What the fuck, Varric? Does this story your telling need to fit into the "Kung Fu movie" genre?
Not much I can say about its flaws/the things it did right that haven't already been said, but I enjoy Dragon Age 2 quite a bit. I think it's at least worth a try.
So I've reuploaded this: Let's call this a shameful self-advertisement In the meantime, my Inquisition experience goes on smoothly. The first impact with Skyhold was stunning to say the least (I have been stuck there for two or three hours in an effort to read everything, talk with everyone and check everything new), but now I'm mainly focusing on unlocking new areas (as I'm writing this I have something like 29 power and I could as well begin Here Lies the Abyss) I've also summoned the three specialization trainers. I set my mind on necromancy almost instantly due to the trainer mentioning he was basically making me a fucking MORTALITASI and because Spirit + Necromancy = Spiritsmancer Also, I had to clear Sera's personal quest this evening Now, I have this habit of asking every NPC I meet all the questions I can. But then, at the second question to the noble, Sera mentioned she wasn't going to ask me again to sop talking to him. So I got my clue and enlisted him in the Inquisition. Afterwards I was reasonable with Sera and allowed her to stay in the Inquisition Even if she is kind of a sore thumb in a cast of incredibly well-written companions, pragmatism before emtions, guys
So I just finished it and from what I understood: Mayor ending spoilers [sp] Solas is apparently the Dread Wolf, Flemeth is Mythal and they tried to undo the sealing of the elven gods in the fade, but Corypheus betrayed them when he got the orb. (Which explains why he is opening the rifts, Solas/ flemeth wanted to break the other gods out of the fade through these rifts). I always suspected Solas to be a spirit or something similar, but I never expected him to be a god. It explains so much but I never expected the writing to be this clever (I know it's kotaku and some people don't like Hernandez, but this article does piece together fan theories pretty nicely: [/sp] clickie Mayor ending spoilers I'm now really curious about the way they continue this story later on.

In this game, Flemeth's story comes to a head -- she knew that Solas would summon her, and that he would need to steal her power to further his plans. She knew that because they are both elven gods...yet Solas has slept for a thousand years and his power dwindled, while she was killed long ago and a spark escaped from her into the body she now holds. She has nurtured that spark, and knew that Solas would need it. He was once her oldest friend, but she knows in his drive to save the elven people he will kill anyone -- even her. She intends to let him have the power, so long as she can pass the essence of her god-hood onto Morrigan, a gift Flemeth had always planned for her daughter yet one Morrigan misunderstood as hostile possession.[/sp]
So yeah. It's fairly obvious from that we can expect [sp]to see Solas in an antagonistic role in DA:IV and Morrigan in a support role. I personally hope she's a companion.[/sp] I'm very excited for post-game DLC or expansions or sequels. I desperately want to see what becomes of my world. One feature I really liked was how some choices you don't make, the game just bases it on your actions. For example Leliana can be hardened depending on your choices. [sp]then if you've hardened her she'll kill a chantry sister on her personal quest even if you tell her not to. There's also the Divine feature. Depending on your choices depends on Divine. Even if you flat out say "I support X to be divine" they might not become it.[/sp] I liked that decision making. It makes you feel like you're influencing the world. It does it in another small way, when you tell people if you're the herald or not. [sp]After The Fade people are all "I guess you did try to tell us you weren't the herald..."[/sp]. It's little touches like that which are brilliant.
[sp] the whole solas-thing and the HOF looking for a cure + grey wardens being at civil war(?) really makes me wishful for a expansion/dlc of all of this. [/sp]
Seems kind of big for DLC, but I wouldn't mind a HOF adventure DLC.
I hate to repeat myself, but do you know what's bullshit? Locking a character's specialization behind yet another fetch quest And if you really want to make someone angry, make it so that is the ONLY fetch quest not reciving a marker on the map (As I'm writing this I'm on the verge of ragequitting the game this evening because I can't find the two Nevarran Skulls required to unlock the necromancer specialization. The quest's text actually LIES to the player because the skulls aren't looted from the Ghouls you can find in the three areas suggested, but you have to scout them for THREE PRECISE SPOTS and loot unconspicious piles of bones. And let's not get start about where someone is supposed to find a fucking book on the subject. I only got that right off the bat because I thought Dorian would had helped and the book just happened to be NEAR him. Guide Dang It at ist finest)
PS4 just got the patch that fixed the exploits, but also fixed banter bug.
Since I'm probably never going to stop playing this game until I get 100% completion, I decided to start with the Dalish origin. Snarking at Andrastian priests is fun.
I wish this game would have stronger modding capabilities... There are SOOOO many armor sets that I want to use that are either completely shit or aren't even available to the player...
spoilers: http://i.imgur.com/QqqA3bp.png After I chose a dialogue option, the [sp]dragon promptly flew in over the trees behind us.[/sp] [editline]5th February 2015[/editline] [sp]Where are the other six Tevinter magisters?[/sp]
Probably imprisoned

I've been finding myself listening to Leliana's stories in Origins without actually paying attention. Probably because I've heard them a dozen times, but I just end up listening to her voice and staring into her eyes. I'm starting to scare myself. Send help.

Just got this game, hoping for big things, but can't seem to decide between playing a rogue archer or sword and shield warrior!

I hope the next title allows for greater interaction between the Warden and the Inquisitor, especially since for me both are Dalish. [sp]And especially since it seems like the next one will involve the Dread Wolf trying to restore Elven Civilization. A Dalish Warden and Dalish Inquisitor would definitely have input in to that.[/sp] I'd also like to see the next one let you play as any of your surviving past heroes. And make the others romanceable. Wanna see that hot lesbian threesome between Mahariel, Hawke, and Lavellan. :quagmire:
Leliana is scrub-tier romance.
My Mahariel is currently going for Morrigan since I didn't bother to actually finish her romance last time. Doesn't mean I don't prefer Leliana 10x more, though. :v:
Don't be ashamed, I'm the same with Iron Bull.
Well, can't say I blame you. If Qunari wore shirts more often they'd probably have a few less fans.
I love playing a clueless female qunari warrior who is constantly confused and doesn't give a fuck about what's going on it's kind of a shame when the game takes control of your dialogue as if my character gives a shit
I'm kinda bummed that you need to be Dalish if you want to be an elf. And that you look your skeleton is made of pipe cleaners.
I'm kinda bummed that you need to be Dalish if you want to be an elf. And that you look your skeleton is made of pipe cleaners.
Luckily you can use a color for your face tattoo that makes it invisible. I would rather be city elf but backgrounds have very little role in DA:I. Being dalish allows you to be a bit more involved with themes/lore in DA:I but in the end even a city elf would work. The body type for elves in DA:I is silly though. Both genders are made out of toothpicks and some cutscenes are just silly because of it.
For someone new to dragon age, who is more used to a combat system like in the elder scrolls games, what class would you suggest is the most fun to play? I imagine the combat in this game to be quite bland and boring so I'm looking for a class to keep me entertained. Usually in games similar to this I try to make my character a jack of all trades.

I used Warrior as a crutch-class in Origins, because you can do a fair bit of damage and not die in 2 seconds if you get surrounded. It's probably the better choice for a very first playthrough.
