Dragon Age Inquisition Megathread: Bioware's Last Chance Edition

Playing as a necromancer is the most fun I've had in a Dragon Age game ever: you are basically a buffer/debuffer mage who can also dish out nice dots and recover health and mana on kills
There are only two drawbacks
First, your companions apparently can't tell the difference between a necromancer and a necrophile and will all disapprove of your spec choice (Cole's disapproval was especially heart wrenching for me)
Second, the Walking Bomb spell is the most excruciating looking ability in the whole fucking game (to have an idea of the whole deal, imagine your body being suddendly infected with a consuming dark disease, slow and painful. Then you die and your body explodes in a big, dark purple shadowy flare with HUGE CHUNKS OF YOUR VERY BONES AND ENTRAILS COVERING THE WHOLE PLACE)
Is this playable on PC with Keyboard and Mouse? ty
Yup.
Started an aggressive-Hawke melee rogue in DA2 for shits and giggles. I'm doing a hell of a lot more damage than I expected. Most smaller fights end in like 10 seconds on Normal.
I hope we can change our Hawke in the Emporium. I kinda regret going for the default. A lot.
I owned this game for a grand total of 2 days, probably played it for about 1 hour maybe. Game play is great, would love to keep playing it, however I was getting a repeatable progress blocking shit crash that was fucking up my gpu drivers. Every time I went into a cutscene in the chantry thing right after you asplode the first rift I got the DXGI_device_hung error thing.
Googled it and then was dismayed to find out how fucked this game is for nvidia users who own newer GPUs, like my 770. I couldn't believe it, I purposefully avoided buying the game on release and waited for a few months, read some great reviews so was like yeah, I'll buy this.
Well I guess I've learnt my lesson, now as well as waiting for reviews on new games, I shall also visit the tech forums before buying to see if there's any massive common issues.
I did all the jumping through hoops that tech support suggested but in the end I opted for a refund when they suggested that I should turn down my GPU clock speed and void my GPU warranty. No way I should have to mess with my hardware when this is the only game giving me the issue and it's such a common issue.
Oh well, I'll keep an eye on it and see what future patches bring but for now I'd rather not have another useless game sat in a games list that's unplayable for months, maybe one day, if it works, I'll buy it again. It's a shame too, was just getting into it -_-
I bought this of ps4. Knowing the current state of pc gaming i didn't want to risk it.

That's odd, the game runs fine on my 770

Nope.
Can only be played in virtual reality while dressed up in armor.
Does anyone know the story behind Hawke's blood smear?
IIRC, the team the hired to make the CGI trailer had him smear blood on his face and they thought it looked cool so they put it on him in the game.
Nothing very significant, sadly.

Don't watch it, the blasted thing is one hour long
If you ask me, locking important quest flags behind doors you need a fucking guide to open wisely is a terrible design choice and the only thing I disliked about the whole quest
(For people who haven't gotten to that part yet: the place spots some special doors which can only be opened with special statues, which aren't exactly easy to find. The problem is about the statues being actually CONSUMED as you open a door. Since there are only 11 of them, if you are looking for a specific ending and don't know in advance which door holds the proper quest flag, you are fucked)
Also, I'm mad because I couldn't dance with Cassandra, since I hadn't a romance going on at the time
An hour later, however ....

I have to say, the whole romance scene is even more touching if you aren't a believer

From the trailer it seemed like some kind of blood magic thing. Unfortunately Hawke being a blood mage in DA2 has now effect and [sp]in DA:I he's very negative about blood magic even if you made him one in DA2.[/sp]

My poor Hawke had her specialization disappear completely :v:
What the hell do Spirit Healers do now? Wynne and Anders [sp](if they were still alive)[/sp] would seriously be out of business.
Just to clarify is it a spoiler at this point to say [sp]Hawke appears in DA:I?[/sp]
Also regarding Spirit Healers, I think in DA:I you can read they are actually quite rare. Something to do being host to a good spirit. I think that's one of their explanation why there are no healing spells.
If I can ask, do the fetch quests the companions give you (like Blackwall's hunt for Wardens artifacts and Varric's request to destroy red lyrium) have some sort of importance plot-wise or just serve to increase a companion's affection?
I'd also like to be an end game for them, because apparently one of the primeval red lyriumd deposit sits just below a dragon. I made the mistake of trying to reach it

I like the fact that whenever bioware makes a gameplay change between succesive games, they always reference it.
For example:

They're mostly just approval generators, I think. Though Solas' one does generate a table mission and quest eventually.
Don't get me wrong, I try to clear them as they go, but some of them are blocked by formidable BEEF GATES (as to say, dragons)
I already cleared the Solas' one. Now we are pals.

[sp]Wynne[/sp] is dead in DA:I regardless of your choices. [sp]She's killed during the events of the novel Asunder, she plays a big part in sparking the Mage Templar war[/sp].
[del]Dragon Age: Inquisition Patch 5 Beta signups are now open.[/del]
Closed.

That's what I meant. [sp]I liked her :c[/sp]

Damn it happens as soon as I go to bed and I miss it, fuck.
Today I cleared Here Lies the Abyss
I decided [sp]to let Hawke die in place of Loghain[/sp], because, I don't know, it felt like something he had to do. I knew I was in for a lot of shit from [sp]Varric[/sp] and oh boy the game delivered
I'm still baffled about how [sp]Corypheus' fake Calling gambit actually worked[/sp] and how no Grey Warden whatsoever even stopped at some point to think the whole thing through
On a side note, Iron Bull made me met his crew
You can already tell [sp]things are going to end badly for them[/sp]

[sp]Alistair is a Grey Warden in my current world state, but as much as I love him, I could never kill off Hawke. I guess I just get more attached to characters I've played as, especially when I more or less made their personality myself.[/sp]
So, this is a bit better than Dragon Age 2 but still worse than DA:O and no where near Bioware's Baldur's Gate heyday.
A step in the right direction to be sure.
As I'm getting closer and closer to the end of the main questline, I'm starting to get really annoyed by the whole war room mechanic
While waiting for a REAL TIME timespan, which can range from 20 minutes to FIVE HOURS, for resource and influence quests could be acceptable, the same cannot be said for putting companions and main events quests behind a time barrier too
I mean, I'm on Cole's personal quest (which is intriguing as hell) and now I have to wait for ONE FUCKING HOUR in order to surpass the war room step. Why?
And the more you approach the end, the more quests of that kind require a war room step

When people start to make the inevitable mods for Inquisition, I suspect that the War Room times will be the first thing to get changed.
After my first time through, I just set my system clock ahead. Ain't got time for that shit.

You're lucky then, there's a massive thread with loads of people having issues. One guy really went to town with troubleshooting and figuring out what shit ass problems there was.
I think he ended up clocking his PC down to something similar to that of an Xbox one to get it working, kind of rediculous:
