So I started Dragon Age Origins somewhat recently and I like it. If I went straight to Inquisition after this would I not know what's going on?
I think you'd get the main thrust of what's going on, but a lot of the details might be confusing. Also a lot of big mysteries built up through the first two games are played with, so you wouldn't get the full effect on those. But to get the full effect of those, you'd have to play the first games, wait several years while speculating on the internet, and THEN play DAI.

While I personally didn't like DAII, I think it's worth playing for the story. I hated most of what they did with the gameplay and visual style of the game, the one redeeming factor is the dialogue and party banter when you choose the humorous responses. The writing and voice acting were great.

Not gonna deny that there was some good writing, but the majority was really bad to be honest.
My favourite parts of DAII were the artwork that showed when transitioning between levels and when Varric told his portions of the story.
Black Emporium is out. Same with the new MP pack.
Patch 7 is also out as of yesterday

Is the replay value any good here?
I finished it once

The Black Emporium is a real letdown.
It's a tiny one room space full of mostly existing game assets as clutter plus one static... thing on a chair that's supposed to be Xenon the Antiquarian, and a few store tables selling stuff.
There's a store for crafting materials, generic plans, plans for a few stronger weapons and a few actual weapons and accessories.
Both of the last store tables sell only one of each type of weapon or weapon plan, so that's one unique weapon you can buy and one you can craft for your character.
No unique new armors it seems, so still nothing interesting for Qunari characters.
Also there's that showracemenu mirror if you want to re-edit your face.
The sound clips from Xenon that randomly play when you walk around the room are cool, I guess. But there are only like five of them.

I liked the fact the emporium looked the same as it did in DA2, instead of being completely re-designed but Yeah i gotta say that other than the showracemenu mirror, the emporium is a huge disappointment. i could already make half of the "new" items using cheat engine anyway.
i was hoping that multi-player armour schematics would be on sale for use in the single player story at the very least. seriously bioware wtf i want those awesome robes worn by the [sp] elves in the temple of mythal[/sp] for my Dalish inquisitor.
should i play through DA2 or just skip it and go to inquisition?
DA2 is worth playing through imo, its nowhere near as good as the other two games but it has some pretty nice writing in places, gives a look at what life is like in provinces outside of Fereldan and Orlais, has pretty focused narrative later in the game about what started the big-ass war everyone's banging on about in inquisition, plus some more insight into how the Qunari think and operate (also includes their cool re-design).
Despite all its flaws I wouldn't recommend anybody skip DA2, especially if they hadn't played it before. It has good points and for some people they might overshadow all the bad points, and I wouldn't want to cause somebody to end up skipping over a game they might have really liked because I myself have a burning hatred for most of it.
It has Varric which is a massive plus point, and Fenris is pretty good if you play a mage and don't take it too seriously. Snarky/Diplomatic Mage (from my memory) had some pretty great points.
Yeah, Varric is one of the best characters in Dragon Age. He's no Oghren (then again, who COULD replace that bundle of joy?), but he's still pretty awesome.
Here's some more Oghren for those who forgot about him.

"AH AH AH ... ASSCHABS!"
God damnit. I was enjoying this game last week.
And then Patch 7 came out and in typical DRM'd fashion, you HAVE to update...
Now all my mods are broken, and because my save has mod dependencies, I can't load it without crashing now.
Modmanager 0.49 for patch 7 just straight up failed with a C# exception. Wonderful.
Is it so much trouble to want to have to option to patch or not, Bioware/EA?
Edit: Scratch that, modders are on point and fixed it with a new Modmanager: http://forum.bioware.com/topic/529048-dai-tools/page-211#entry19080647

For some reason Xenon's line about moist towelettes is stuck in my head forever.
Today I'm going to get inside Dragon Age: Inquisition again just to sample the new free content they added
I'm not getting the Jaws of Hakkon DLC because, as far as I know, the whole thing doesn't have much impact on the game's world, therefore being a 15 bucks filler episode I really don't need
Today I've also checked my Dragon Age Keep and saw if my choices were faithfully recorded. Truth be told, I've noticed some issues:
- First, the Keep isn't automatically upgraded with the choices you made while playing. Therefore, if you want to record them, I suggest you go to the website and select them manually
- This may be a personal issue, but you can't select all the options for an important event flag as you were able in previous games section. Suppose an event flag has three possible outcomes: you'll be able to select for the Keep the option you took in the game ONLY. I was really hoping I could "fix" my inquisitor story by selecting the choices I wanted (nor that I need to at the moment)
- Some of the unlockable flags are bugged or otherwise don't take into account some creative paths the player may have followed. In the former case, while I [sp]urged the Iron Bull to save the Qun dreadnought[/sp], the following flag doesn't allow me to select that he remained loyal to the Qunari, while I can only select the opposite outcome (he was declared Tal-Vashot); from the latter, in the temple I decided to perform the elven rituals and THEN jump into the hole in the ground, befriending the sentinels after that, but the Keep only takes into account the jump in the hole, therefore assuming I made an enemy out of the Sentries
If you go into the option menu you can unlock all of the "spoiler" options and set things to be whatever you want.

Bless be upon thee
The Black Emporium is a huge disappointment
Is it just me, or does the female voice actor with the English accent sound like she has no idea how to act?. My girlfriend just started a new dragon age inquisition play-through, and half of the lines that sounded really good when i heard them on my character come off as really phoned in coming from hers.

I'm sad they didn't do more with it, but it is EXACTLY what they said it would be.

I always find in games like this, especially Mass Effect, that the character voice I didn't pick first time round sounds really weird, probably because they're reading the same lines as the one you're used to. I don't mind the female voice actor other than it's the same one who voiced Samantha Traynor in ME3 and for the first half hour it's a bit weird.
It's weird, because the first time through I played with the American female on a dwarf, and it fit perfectly, I liked everything about how the character sounded. I've since started 3 characters with the British female voice, and it's fine, because the voice is not-my-dwarf. It's just the "other" voice. If I try to start a character with the American voice, though, it doesn't work, because it's my dwarf character's voice coming out of somebody else's mouth.
On the other hand, I don't like the American Male voice at all. Maybe as a Qunari, I haven't tried that. It's too deep for a human, that's for sure. Of course, the British Male voice sounds like a very specific kind of character to me, too.
The British male voice fits my character perfectly, but it throws me a little because its the same dude who did the sith warrior voice in TOR.

... REALLY?!
... REALLY?!
It's Bioware. They're masters of rehashing assets and voice actors.
I'm more surprised about me not recognizing the voice
I'm a bit of a fan of the Sith warrior
... REALLY?!
They even directly reuse a few of his more generic lines from TOR :v:, mostly its just grunts and yells, but there was a really cheeky bit where if you charge with the soldiers in the prologue his line is two separate recordings mashed together "I SAY WE CHARGE!" being recorded for the sith warrior, and then the second half of the line being new.
