I don't know diddley wank about the SG scene (Only started FGs as a whole in like May anyway) and I watched the matches on the train to uni so I guess I wasn't paying attention
watching double is a clusterfuck too
Probably the only thing I truly don't like seeing online is Parasoul, typically because they do that ridiculous Parasoul/Cerebella combo that is nigh-unbreakable if it connects. Other than that, most matches are alright, if a bit weak on my end.
When I picked up the game, I found it really simple to input stuff.
I'm way above average in FG and I usually suck at them pretty badly. Learning them was hard for me. For me, Skullgirls is the easiest FG I've played so far where I can actually understand what I'm doing.
Just doing the tutorial, training a bit with a character, learning it's pros and cons, watching other people play them and then play by myself made this game a shit ton more enjoyable.
I did lose loads of matches and won a handful in the Beta, and got frustrated at those good players which broke my defenses cornering me (or other stupid beginner's mistakes) but each time, I would replay the match in my head, looking for my mistakes for further rework of my fighting.
FGs are literally "Trial and Error". You keep trying until you learn something out of your losses. It's harsh but it can be very effective at the end, if you're willing to swallow the bitter taste of massive defeats.
Here's a very good tip that everyone will tell you here: Play the entire Tutorial.
It's one of the more fleshed out tutorials on any FG. From it, I learned what each character does.
Now get your ass on that chair and go play with animated girls hitting each other!
The game is very lenient with inputs and you can mash out combos. Try that in most other FGs and you won't get past the first input.

I assumed he meant combos that lasted a very long time and almost did all of your health in one go.
I assume everyone here has done the tutorials at the very least and knows when to break out of infinite combos when it says you can.
