focus on a bnb (bread and butter combo) and when you think you can pull it off consistently start working on your defense.
I agree new players should learn BnB's before learning anything else, however I think that learning defense or offense first depends on the people you play with, however defense is really important and should take priority over learning offense.
So fairly new to this game, as well as the fighting genre as a whole, playing it mostly with a dualshock 4. Any general tips I should know, or tips for learning combos?
As BeardyDuck said, start off learning a few BnB combos then go into either defense or offense depending on your opponents. Having a good defense before a good offense is a good way to start off, however if you have no friends who have a decent offense this can backfire because you will learn nothing out of blocking someone who mashes LP, HP and HK, if you have people to play with who have decent knowledge of mix-ups and have a pretty good offense then you should learn how to defend first. If you play with someone at the same skill level then you should learn offense and defense because you will learn more then just defending basic high-low mix-ups. When you are learning offense start off with converting combos off of jump-ins or lows, then start learning some better mix-ups and resets, then improve your BnB's. However I strongly suggest you learn defense before offense because having a good defense is the way to having a good offense.
Alright, how is everyone feeling about Friday and Saturday of this week for the tourney?

2 pack is on sale for $16.74 and I can't buy it. Anyone know why?
2 pack is on sale for $16.74 and I can't buy it. Anyone know why?
My guess is that steam store servers are down or the fact that you have the game already is causing problems for some reason.
Skullgirls is -50% 6,99€ for next 8 hours as a flash sale.
I have messaged everyone who said Possibly to the tournament, I will make the challonge brackets and will get back to everyone later tonight. Dates for the tournament will be Friday and Saturday 11/29/13-11/30/13
Bought Skullgirls some days ago on the Humble store, but couldn't install it until today. Well, even if I missed the free Squigly DLC, the game is awesome. I just spent two hours in training just to see all the animation in slow-mo.

is there any point to big band's trumpet thing, or is it just to taunt them sorry if its a dumb question, just got the game C:
is there any point to big band's trumpet thing, or is it just to taunt them sorry if its a dumb question, just got the game C:
Try playing the Close Encounters theme with 5 meter (LK, Up+HP, Down+MK+HK, MK+HK, MP+HP)
You need 5 meters to do the maximum amount of allowed notices so the trumpet is probably only useful for a few notes or so

Holy hell I am sorry for being so late on this. Update on the tournament, I have launched the Challonge page, http://challonge.com/FPSGT this tourney will last today and tomorrow, the usernames are everyone's Facepunch usernames. Unfortunately, unless someone is willing to donate at the last minute, there will be no prizes. But I hope everyone still has fun. You will need to add your opponent on Steam, fight them best 2 out of 3, screenshot the results, and let me know. Names are as follows. Fish_Poke http://steamcommunity.com/id/Lafdor Zoran http://steamcommunity.com/id/Jacob40 Compent http://steamcommunity.com/id/Compent Sharles http://steamcommunity.com/id/sharles/ Tall Russian http://steamcommunity.com/id/Tvirusaddict Sonic4Ever http://steamcommunity.com/id/letom/ PsychoPath12 http://steamcommunity.com/id/psychopath12 NinjaNerd777 http://steamcommunity.com/id/NinjaNerd777
I'm fuckin shit at street fighter style fighting games. Should i buy this game?
It's much more anime style except the buttons and the non retarded inputs.
It's much more anime style except the buttons and the non retarded inputs.
But all those crazy Z inputs in Blazblue are great!
how can you even review a game when you played it for only 10 minutes
You just covered video game reviews as a whole congratulations.
I'm fuckin shit at street fighter style fighting games. Should i buy this game?
This is probably the first fighting game I actually played for real. I've never been into fighting games, but the tutorial system helps alot even if you're new.
It's much more anime style except the buttons and the non retarded inputs.
I was talking about the gameplay. I don't like street fighter games as in fighting games that have analog direction in their moves and are super technical but i fuckin love soul calibur and tekken games.
I don't really think you should get your ass kicked like that game. The only thing maybe is the boss level, which get's harder with the not so normal characters. The one thing that gets aggravating, may be the whole aggravation of being told by a "pegasister" voiced boss, "how week you are" when she keeps killing you. I would be clearer with what I'm talking about, but I don't really want to make http://i.chzbgr.com/maxW500/7905936896/h020C57DA/ that reference. I hope you don't mind that most of the conversations are just text back n fourth like that, the frame rate in the fighting sequences should make up for the limited cut scenes. Unless you have a controller, this game you have to get used to the key binds. They just did not want to use the enter button for all circumstances. I feel like I may have missed the whole LP MP HP and LK MK HK key commands denoting the abbreviations for punching and kicking, being binded to the a, s, d, and z, x, c buttons, which I can't recall that being mentioned in the tutorial, but everyone entering this genre as a new territory should probably refer to the tutorial, to understand the moves their talking about.
Semi-Finals for the tournament are now up! http://challonge.com/FPSGT opponents go as follows. Fish_Poke http://steamcommunity.com/id/Lafdor Sharles http://steamcommunity.com/id/sharles/ Sonic4Ever http://steamcommunity.com/id/letom/ PsychoPath12 http://steamcommunity.com/id/psychopath12 Good luck to everyone! As per previous round, best 2 out of 3, anything goes.

Arcade sticks are digital so if you push it to the left, it's either in neutral or to the left, there is no half way. [editline]1st December 2013[/editline] and they're not technical at all. Even 720s because you can buffer them in the air.

By analog movement input, i meant the whole "2 full revolutions right, 1 revolution left, now a half circle right" garbage that street fighter has. Soul calibur, tekken, etc only have like 'hold right and press these buttons, etc'.
