Is it just me or is Squigly's tutorial mode broken? I keep doing Liver Mortis Seria and nothing happens.
-Fixed it-
I'm still new to the game and I've hardly ever played Peacock but even then Painwheel spam is such bullshit. What could you advise to break free from this?
His name is literally telling you what to do. Pushblock. I wonder if that was intentional?
I've been using a controller but does anyone have suggestions for a cheap fight stick?
His name is literally telling you what to do. Pushblock. I wonder if that was intentional?
Didn't teach myself that yet at the time. Just found out how to do it now.
I think a common misconception about this game (and conventional fighting games in general, like Street Fighter) is that people think they can just pick up and play it on the fly and expect to beat people straight up. That is to say, you can still play this game to have fun and not excel at it, but if you actually want to get good at it, you're going to have to practice and understand the basic fundamentals of the game. While I don't particularly like certain things about Skullgirls, I must admit that it does have one of the best tutorial modes, for its genre. It babies you and takes you step-by-step through the basics of the game and helps you gain a greater understanding of how to play and what to do in certain situations. That being said, like most other fighting games, you can only do so much by practicing by yourself. Players get better by experience. There's really no other substitution for it. I know that fighting games can be frustrating for newer players because there's definitely a skill gap between levels of players, but you can overcome that with perseverance and patience. It's not easy but it is possible. If you're content to play the game at a basic level, so be it, I'm not going to judge you for it (Play the game! Have fun!). Just realize that a lot of the things you might consider "OP" or "cheap" or "retarded" or "gay" usually have a ton of ways to deal with them. If you're willing to learn, then your enjoyment of the game/genre might just increase!
Bah looks like I'll have to buy a 360 controller. Using a keyboard is difficult as fuck, and I'd rather not break my keyboard.
Bah looks like I'll have to buy a 360 controller. Using a keyboard is difficult as fuck, and I'd rather not break my keyboard.
It's not necessary to buy a stick or gamepad to play fighting games. I'm not saying you shouldn't, just that a lot of newcomers to the genre tend to think that all their problems with fighting games will go away once they buy one or the other. I, myself, am able to play on keyboard, gamepad, and on stick but I am actually quite comfortable playing on keyboard. It has more to do with familiarity and comfort; a stick or gamepad is not necessarily better (although they both have their ups and downs). For example, it's much easier to do a full 360 motion on a stick, than it is on a gamepad or keyboard.
Well I originally learned this on the 360 and my keyboard isn't in the best shape. So I'd rather go with something I'm familiar with then potentially break something that's pretty essential to using the computer.
Yeah, nobody is going to gift me anything, ever [sp]including this[/sp]
Yeah, nobody is going to gift me anything, ever [sp]including this[/sp]
you're right now stop begging and leave. a curse upon ye and your kin.
you cant really learn when online is full of never ending combo pro and spamming peacocks..... cant wait until arcade is here
you cant really learn when online is full of never ending combo pro and spamming peacocks..... cant wait until arcade is here
Sometimes the best way to learn is to get your ass beat by players that are better than you. I know this from personal experience.
also, my two cents on the controls discussion: if you really want to play fighting games and enjoy them, you really ought to look into purchasing a stick. fighting games are really designed for sticks and as such control most naturally on them. there are people that play well on pads, but they're outliers. if you really must use a pad, you're best off trying a fightpad or a PS3 controller in the very least. 360 pads are miserable for fighting games and you will just become frustrated and cramped. as far as sticks go, though, they can be pretty expensive. i had some luck in finding a discontinued Hori EX2 for like $25 a few years ago, but it's starting the wear out and the buttons are kind of sucky anyways. When the person you're fighting against doesn't abide by the suggested frame delay it really pisses me off, I think more than it should but I just get so damn angry when I'm lagging out because someone didn't set their frame delay to the suggested.
I once got bodied on melty by someone playing with a keyboard. You can probably play with a cellphone
Yeah, nobody is going to gift me anything, ever [sp]including this[/sp]
Good. You don't deserve anything.
I've thought about holding a Skullgirls Facepunch Tournament when the game comes out and we have lobbies. But I don't even know what the prizes would be let alone if people would be willing.

Either that or we could just have it for fun, which is okay with me. I am like, sorta hijacking your idea here, but it'd be cool if we had a "scrub" bracket and a "pro" bracket so we don't just have the experienced players fucking with the new guys.

Arcade mode still locked for anyone else? They said yesterday they were going to re-enable it. [editline]3rd August 2013[/editline] The beta tab in properties for SG beta has a beta selection and a code input screen. Was I supposed to get a code or something?
Sometimes the best way to learn is to get your ass beat by players that are better than you. I know this from personal experience.
While that is true to some extent, it gets to a point where the opponent is degrees of skill higher than you and you simply can't react, how do you learn anything from that Like I said before, try getting good at Quake from the ground up by playing against people with years of experience and see where that gets you [editline]3rd August 2013[/editline] I'll probably buy this once arcade mode rolls in so I can at least get used to the game instead of jumping blind
I like to play as Cerebella :)
Anyone else just get a 27MB update?

I'd be down for a tournament, but I'd prefer that at least the first one is just for fun. While prizes are great and everything, not everyone knows what bracket they'd fall into. Like me. I consider myself mid-tier, but compared to lots of others I am pretty subpar at the game. It's all relative, really.

Anyone have a beta invite they can spare?
