I thought Rom was great, it just sits there and hangs out with you. It's hardly even a boss.
You've either not played Dark Souls 2 or you've got an exceptionally short memory. Remember the Shrine of Manamana (Doo doo, doo doo doo.)?
Shrine wasn't really a problem if you leveled up your AGI to 100. If you didn't you were pretty much straight fucked. SotFS hasn't really proven to be anything particularly awful or hard for me, but I guess that's because I got absolutely used to how awful DS2 could get. Also regarding str builds, I guess I was wrong. I thought it was like a well accepted fact that dex builds generally outplayed str ones in most situations. My personal experience of playing a dex build for one NG cycle in DS1 kinda personally proved that since everything was consistently easier with the Uchi, a Bandit's Knife and Quelaag's.
Because two out of three of those weapons are too stronk. Dex builds are fun and agile and rewarding but Strength builds are easymode and typically peoples first. I go through every new Soulsborne game as one and i'll do the same with DS3.
Iron Keep on SotFS was just the worst. You were fighting like ten of those knights at once. I can't take that many katanas.
Some of the enemy placements in SotFS actually made more lore sense than the vanilla game. And then some of the enemy placements were clearly the result of "Hey, how can we best fuck with players who played the vanilla game?" thinking.
basically all of dark souls 2 was just pure suffering
basically all of dark souls 2 was just pure suffering
It was more difficult than Dark Souls 1 but mostly lacked the same feeling of wonder, fear, and satisfaction. Dark Souls 1 was "What the fuck is that thing and how do I kill it?" Dark Souls 2 was "Oh look, another five of those assholes with their broken weapon hitboxes, I wonder what bullshit they're going to throw at me next." [editline]31st December 2015[/editline] It's like... enemies in Dark Souls 1 were in places it made sense for them to be, considering lore and whatever else. Enemies in Dark Souls 2 were placed solely to provide a challenge and catch players off guard. There was a *little* of that in DS1, but it wasn't the focus of their placement.
Less big guys with swords for DS3 pls
Less big guys with swords for DS3 pls
I mean, I still want big guys with swords, not JUST big guys with swords.
I'm hoping DS3 has more, not-so-weapon weapons. e.g villager pitchforks, pickaxes, maybe a giant tree branch and shit like that.
Laurence is also incredibly cheap
i have yet to play the DLC but from what ive heard every boss except Maria is either incredibly hard or incredibly stupid
I mean, I still want big guys with swords, not JUST big guys with swords.
Knights are very prevalent in this game for a reason but having exclusively knights is kinda shitty. Even then, there's only variation in their armor and moveset, but not in their stance or how their lore adds up to that NPC's playstyle. I mean, look at that Frost Knight(?) mob in the DS3 network test. He was crawling all up on the floor making screechy noises compared to the regular Tower Knights with greatshields and spears & such that roamed in the surface. Look at Ornstein and then Artorias. They're both guys in armor with big weapons, but they have radically different speeds, stances, sound design and tactics ontop of the already granted moveset & armor design differences. That doesn't really happen all that often. In DS2 big guys in armor with big weapons only have a difference in moveset and armor design, everything else is the exact same since they always have a stupid ass 8 hit combo, they always have ridiculous tracking, they always have infinite stamina, they always bumrush you with no tactics whatsoever, they always have the same clunkfest clickity-clack plating noises, they always have that same WOOSH and GASHUNK noise when they swing & smash shit, they always get 2 shotted by a unupgraded strike weapon, etc.
I just want Major Spooks to be a boss and not an NPC.
Well, he's miniboss tier, at least. By himself he'd make a pretty lacklustre boss. Better as a tough challenge early on, and then as one of a few normal mobs you encounter in a later stage of the game. I think Dat Ass of the Frigid Valley makes a much better boss.
I hope DS3 does get some more variation in enemy type. I love all the different, monstrous creatures in Dark Souls 1 and Bloodborne. DS2 had a real lack of creepy crawlers as I recall. Hell, even the non-humans/undead walked like humans and swung weapons at you (coughLionMencoughElephantdudescough) and some were pretty much clones from 1 (coughArachnidLady#2hackweezeSifTheRathorkgackLiterallyOrnstein)
Yeah it needs more beastly, twisted horrors like what we saw in Lordran. And if the Abyss is returning this time, we might just get that kind variety again.
Hopefully Player-like characters you encounter won't have stupid ammounts of health and damage compaired to you like in Bloodborne. Fighting enemy hunters was such a chore, and they werent even bosses. Especially on the DLC but a special mention to that cunt at Nightmare of Mensis just after the Spider room. Fuck that guy and fuck that whole area.
After replaying DS2 with SoTFS there are only 3 areas so far that have made me want to cry from the difficulty. Iron Keep for obvious reasons. Smelter Demon isn't even terribly difficult, but good luck getting to him without being speared to a wall through your anus via greatbows. The Graverobber trio in Crown of the Sunken king were very difficult for me, and the Smelter Demon in the Crown of the Old Iron King. I literally just had to kill everything in that god forsaken cave 10+ times to make it to the boss, for reasons similar to the Iron Keep. All the other bosses/areas are fairly easy IMO. It boils down to luring enemies out and prioritizing kills.
well i made it through the forbidden wood. the boss glitched and had no audio so it was a super awkward fight, beat them without too much difficulty [editline]31st December 2015[/editline] on to byrgenworth
3 months now til ds3?
should i kill the boss of byrgenworth before doing castle cainhurst?
I think Old Iron King memory was pretty much a big "Fuck you" along with Iron Keep. I love those Alonne armors but they sprint and swing like bugged Al. And hope we don't get too many call backs places\npcs etc in DS3.
should i kill the boss of byrgenworth before doing castle cainhurst?
It doesnt really matter. Cainhurst is optional.
It doesnt really matter. Cainhurst is optional.
Just make sure to light the Cainhurst lamp so you don't miss out on the ability to come back to it, since there's no way to re-explore if you leave without lighting it
Can we just forget about the existence of DS2 already? Shit's lame, period. "ehehee you're fucked you're so fucked" Now I know why the firekeepers said that. 360 degree noscope tracking? What is this call of duty?

pursuer is my shit
pursuer is my shit
Yea I like Pursuer. He was the first guy in armor thus he maintains appeal and he's actually really fun to fight.
well i found eileen dying outside amelias boss room, time to try to kill her prey. hopefully then i can buy her baller ass armor
well i found eileen dying outside amelias boss room, time to try to kill her prey. hopefully then i can buy her baller ass armor
Don't get hit by his gun. Also, I noticed he shoots after rolling
