does anyone know how to reach Blacksmith Vamos in the Catacombs?
There's this circular staircase you have to go down, at one point the stairs just end and you can leave through a hole IIRC, but you can see something at the bottom from the edge, carefully jump down, be sure to have full health.
You have to fall in a hole, you will know which one, the one where you are going down in a spiral staircase while fighting skeletons and in the end you find a necromancer. Watch out when dropping or else you will die.

There's this circular staircase you have to go down, at one point the stairs just end and you can leave through a hole IIRC, but you can see something at the bottom from the edge, carefully jump down, be sure to have full health.

you gotta head down the spiral in the catacombs, the one around patches, across the first bridge you have to flip. make sure you're healed up and prepared to take several daring drops.
Hang on, I'm confused now. I'm back to the bonfire next to Patches, am I too far ahead? There's three spiral staircases that I know of : the very first one right after entering the catacombs (no-go), the second one where the illusory wall is (obviously no-go) and then there's another one which I must have skipped, since i landed on the ledge where you can summon the Paladin
Man FUCK the Orphan of Kos.
wuss

If losing health because of curse is almost enough to make you want to quit I'm glad we didnt recommend you play DS2 :v:

man up and git gud I got cursed and ran out of humanity when facing Seath If you were to play Dark Souls 2 you'd go insane :v:
What can I say, I don't like cheap games with fake difficulty all over the place I'm an odd gamer, I know
What can I say, I don't like cheap games with fake difficulty I'm an odd gamer, I know
lmao dark souls is probably one of the games containing the least episodes of fake difficulty

Is the increased item finding chance of being human in DS1 worth the risk of being utterly stomped by some vastly superior invading force? Bit annoyed that I didn't get the boar helm this time around.
Is the increased item finding chance of being human in DS1 worth the risk of being utterly stomped by some vastly superior invading force? Also Mimic Head/gold serpent ring, of course.
A bit of additional info, it stops adding to item find at 10. You also get soft humanity from killing enough enemies, so if you find yourself farming a BSS or the like you can just get it up to 5 or so and then let the rest accumulate as you farm so you don't have to use any more humanity items than you need to. I know humanity is common enough that this is a non-issue most of the time, but newer players may find it handy to know. Especially early game.
What can I say, I don't like cheap games with fake difficulty all over the place I'm an odd gamer, I know
so i guess you totally knew about the item that lets you purge the curse from you completely
so i guess you totally knew about the item that lets you purge the curse from you completely
That is available at a vendor a couple minutes from Firelink Shrine.
That is available at a vendor a couple minutes from Firelink Shrine.
actually its available at 2 vendors even
What can I say, I don't like cheap games with fake difficulty all over the place I'm an odd gamer, I know
I've played both dark souls games for a total of 70 hours (40 ds1 even though I never beat it, 17 on ds2 and 12 on ds2:sotfs so far) and I can't understand how that game can be "cheap". The only gripe that I've had ever with the combat is the way some enemies track your position mid-animation but even then most of the time I'm able to roll out of the hit. The mechanics are so incredibly simple the only way people die in this game is either because they get greedy with their hits on the enemies or rush through the locations without paying any attention to their surroundings. I've just beaten the belfry gargoyles on my first try and all that you need to do there is wait for the right moment, strike, pull back and heal up if needed. I never died in the gutter area by being careful and reading messages that people leave. You're stupid if you're going to blame the game and not learning from each death.
Seriously what the fuck do I do against the Orphan? I can't even get him to phase 2...
A bit of additional info, it stops adding to item find at 10.
Item Discovery and Chaos scaling both hard-cap at 10 Humanity Defense increase caps at 99 humanity
Seriously what the fuck do I do against the Orphan? I can't even get him to phase 2...
Take your time with the first phase. When I did it I spent a lot of time learning when it would be best to get a few hits in.
Seriously what the fuck do I do against the Orphan? I can't even get him to phase 2...
It helped me a lot to fight him in the water, because there's a lot more space to move than you'd think and you don't have to worry about the weird elevation differences you get while fighting him on the hill. He's really intimidating but also pretty easy to predict. Generally with a slower weapon you have time for one or two hits max after any given attack, then he'll do one of his dodge-and-attack moves. So it's best to not get greedy with your hits, and learning where to dodge for his dodging attacks is really important for his first phase at least.
Seriously what the fuck do I do against the Orphan? I can't even get him to phase 2...
You can backstab and parry him pretty consistently. Play around with it and see which timings are easier for you. As for phase two, there's several strategies but mine was to beat the ever loving fuck out of him at close range. Sounds dangerous, but it's safer than his ranged attacks.
Item Discovery and Chaos scaling both hard-cap at 10 Humanity Defense increase caps at 99 humanity
Except Quelaag's Fury Sword which scales up to 11, for some reason.
Maybe it was due to me summoning someone for help for the first time, but the Gaping Dragon was somewhat of a letdown My hybris was however short lived: some minutes after entering Blighttown I lost 30k souls flat, and things aren't looking bright either (many messages at the very door of the area mention tears, for instance)
gaping dragon is all bark no bite, but blighttown is a bitch if you don't enter through the valley of drakes
Blighttown isn't that bad as long as you aren't sprinting through it. Just take your time and you won't fall off and you won't get swarmed by enemies.

You need to slow down and try not to get swarmed to shit by enemies The Gaping Dragon is also not that difficult of a boss. Only real problem is its acid attack, which can drain the durability of your equipment real fast
Except Quelaag's Fury Sword which scales up to 11, for some reason.
wut that's one of the Chaos weapons I tested, both in-game and on Mugenmonkey. Damage stays the same from 10 humanity onwards
Blighttown isn't that bad as long as you aren't sprinting through it. Just take your time and you won't fall off and you won't get swarmed by enemies.
Blighttown is actually really easy if you take it super slow and can snipe the blowpipe bastards. Honestly, one of my favorite invasion zones because people freak out when you show up. I got a ton of free humanity from people just killing themselves. Call me what you want, but I like to think of myself as an opportunist.
Blighttown is one of my favorite areas, the level design is fantastic and it's fun to explore blowpipe guys are a bit annoying but don't respawn so w/e
anyone wanna help me kill [sp]laurence[/sp]?
anyone wanna help me kill [sp]laurence[/sp]?
For some reason every time I look at a spoiler tag I secretly hope it's a Dark Souls 1 boss
anyone wanna help me kill [sp]laurence[/sp]?
Still looking for help? :v:
