Dark Souls + Demon's Souls + Bloodborne Megathread VII. Now Only Embers Remain

Super Ornstein is 100% worth fighting, his armor is the nicest looking.
Besides Smough doesn't deserve being the second phase guy. Ornstein deserves better than being smashed by that guy. I like the fact Kingseeker Frampt will only give 1 soul for feeding him Smough's soul.

Not that you should be feeding him those souls either. You get a lot more by just consuming them
or you could craft the associated weapons
That's exaggerated, the whole final area was easy unless you never learned how to dodge a turtle.
The first to Smelter and after are much harder.
Ds1 still has its bs moments honestly, running for O&S wasn't that great, Seth run? I'd rather not mentioning, Tomb of the Giants and so on. i still think both DkSs suffer similar problems but the second has worse moments
For Osmough you got a nifty shortcut and you could always run past the two giant men, it was only troublesome if you really wanted to summon Solaire.
The Seath run was also kinda fucky but that was mostly for the first run, everything after that was easier thanks to the boss fog blocking off the clams and the 2 golden golems despawning forever.
My deal with this is that those DKS1 runs, despite being quite hard and sometimes even tedious if you didn't know how to run properly or missed a shortcut or something, they were still nothing compared to some of 2's runs. If those runs in 1 were a problem they're easily twenty times worse in 2.
Since I will get there, it's my understanding that Ornstein and Smough are a boss fight designed for multiplayer?
I'd be tempted to kill Ornstein last because I like his armor and can only guess I will never be able to ahve enough strenght to use that huge mallet the fatso wields
nothing in dark souls is designed for multiplayer cuz summoning makes everything stupidly easy unless you summon idiots

it's easily possible to defeat O&S on your own. I managed to do it both on NG and NG+
Fatso's mallet requires 58str, so unless you go above 30 you're not going to be able to make use of it
If yo're going to start a new game cycle, make extra sure to buy the other guy's armor first from Domnhall. It won't be available for purchase after you begin a new game
This is regarding the Old Hunters dlc, a particular boos fight.
[sp]How the hell am I supposed to beat Orphan of Kos? This guy wrecks me so hard. I faced him at least 30 times by now. I actually manage quite decently if you play careful and smart, but at some point once he transforms everything goes to apeshit. He's tearing me a new one. My nerves just break down and I lose it all.
I learnt most of his attacks and manage to get far without wasting to many blood vials but he gets so vicious once he transforms. I leveled up my character quite a bit and got a +10 weapons with decent gems. But it looks like I need better ones. How can I defeat this guy?[/sp]

What runes are you using? Any extra health runes help a lot. He's so aggressive in his second phase that a lot of his attacks tend to just whiff you. The most dangerous thing (for me at least) was his projectile attack where he throws a bunch of exploding ball things at you, dodges off, then throws him again. If he does that make sure to get into the center of the arena so he won't dodge close to by and shotgun you with them. Being aggressive helps more than you'd think as well, I fought him on NG+3 and was able to stagger him every couple of hits or so, which really saved my life :v:

I was in the same boat as you until last week when I finally wrecked his shit solo.
First of all, in his first stage, you get 4X bullets and health from visceral attacks as you normally would with your runes so take advantage of that because it could be a bug that will be patched out. You probably already know how to beat him easily there but use the augur of ebrietas to stab his back instantly when he jumps over you or does the attack where he blows up the ground.
Second stage you have to know when to lock and unlock the camera but I had it unlocked for most of the fight especially when he begins his combo. You're going to want to get up into his ass because it actually works in this part of the fight but he can sometimes hit you. When he calls for lightning, run back to the entrance because it's can't hit you there. If his weapon is at his side, now is the time to parry.

git... Nah jk, hes pretty tough.
For phase 1, dodge to his left like Ludwig's first phase, you'll have a much easier time. When he jumps in the air, dont dodge(only if you're close), just walk right under and do a backstab if you want. You can parry his attacks as well, the timing is pretty tight though, so try it from a distance until you feel comfortable.
For phase 2, i recommend running straight to the water and fighting him in the open, you get plenty of time to react to the lightning spam and his carpet bomb attack. Stay close and dodge to the right when hes not spamming the bombs. Theres a good backstab window right after he lands from his overhead slam if you're feeling confident.
Source: Took me 20~ attempts on my first playthrough, can now beat him in under 3 tries on ng+ and higher. He's a challenging boss, probably my favorite of the dlc.
Watch this to see some good openings for backstabs on phase 2

Or you can scrap all strategy and summon for easy mode.
Chaos Witch Queelag is kicking my ass (I do like 38 damage per swing to her with my +3 scimitar. My +3 uchigatana is currently broken and of course I can't go back to do repairs)
I've also ran out of moss and humanity, which doesn't exactly help my position
I don't know guys, this game really isn't exactly blowing me away and I make a point of not losing my time with things I don't like
Head up the lift from the bonfire, you can get back to Firelink Shrine from there.

Kiss me.
Thanks for the help guys, actually his first phase is now quite easy. I can dodge him and fight him without any issues without even needing to use one vial. I know his pattern by heart. At the end though he's so hard to even hit. Sometimes when he jumps in the air you get some hits on him whenever he lands. But for the rest, I'm dodging for my life.
That said, locking on at the his second phase is quite devastating so I opted not to lock him on. But this makes the actual combat such a hassle, getting hits on him is really hard.
I'm probably at my 40s attempt or so. I don't know why but he's just kicking my ass despite being really calm and good in his first phase. I'm crying tears.

You've made the same mistake I did before heading into Fucktown. Not bringing the right shit to repair your fucked weapons. I assume you picked up the weapon repair box from Andre at the Undead Parish? Because you'll totally want that thing until you can find a replacement weapon with more durability.
One change I appreciate in DS2 is the auto-repairing when you rest, even if it is just to cover the totally FUCKED durability mechanics.
Durability isn't really much of an issue once you get a handle on the combat and weapon upgrades. It's entirely possible to play through the entire game without repairing your weapon or having it break. Plus you can use the repair box or repair powder if you can't get back to a blacksmith.

This is objectively wrong.

Real knights have curves.
I'm sorry but i don't need their armor and weapons if i got this

I don't mean to brag, but I've beaten OnS on first try more times than I can count. Actually, pretty much every DS1 boss at this point. I should probably find something else to play, because at this point I might as well be Tool Assisting this shit with how easy it is.
[sp]Except the Bed of Chaos. Fuck the Bed of Chaos.[/sp]
i dont mean to brag but get a load of how fucking good i am
bed of chaos is relatively easy. Just carry tons of estus and keep your shield up to contain the knockback. Stick at the very tip of its roots (where the smooth ring is) and stop for a moment before going for the middle so that the path may be revealed
Bed of Chaos doesn't even count, come on.
It's just a stage hazard that you can die to it many times, it won't reset its limbs.

Took the words out of my mouth. In the end it wasn't that interesting of a boss fight. If it can even be considered a fight

Pro tip, that's one of the many areas you can sequence break if you start with the Master Key, skipping the Depths and Lower Burg entirely and going straight to Blighttown. Other examples include being able to skip Taurus and Dragon Bridge and the entire first halves of the Church and Darkroot by opening one door.
Makes life a lot easier.
Playing the bloodborne DLC. So far I've only died twice in it. Once from one of the hunters because I got stuck on a tombstone or something, and the other death was at the first boss.
Currently in NG+ doing this at level 125 with 99 insight. I might need some help with Ludwig.
Whoever was [Pleb] Saint was a good hand in the Gaping Dragon fight. We made a good team.
Oh and some dude invaded me (first invasion ever). He was wearing what I assume was a full set of spiked armor, that I suppose was the reason for the bleeding meter popping off when I was hitting him. He got decimated by my Black Knight Sword, as I armored through his attacks with the Elite Knight set.
And I'm loving this massive thing. I should give it some forging love but I'm always afraid to misuse the rarer titanite because of possible better weapons.
I'm actually enjoying the game a lot more since I'm playing with more caution then my first time with it. I'm actually excited to see what DSIII has in store.

Out of curiosity, which door was it? It doesn't matter since I'm already at the gaping entrance of Blighttown but I always love to know the little tricks a game as.

If his name was Knight Kirk then it was a NPC. There are various NPCs that will invade you in certain spots.

I would recommend complete the game before going looking for all the shortcuts and secrets of the game. Is better find them yourself

Oh, I didn't think it would be an NPC. Then again, I would have probably died at the hands of an invading player.

His armor is cool, 'cause you can do shit like this
