Man I hope we get a defensive UGS in DKS3. Fume is insanely good for that two-handed playstyle due to the block frames and crazy defenses it has. This, combined with Mr. Japanese Directive Guy saying that heavy playstyles will not place you at a disadvantage would make for a very fun playthrough.
I also kinda wish going heavy would prevent you from rolling but instead let you do quicksteps that have very little iframes but cost little stamina. Rolling and such should be exclusive to light and medium builds.
Any roll limitations based on armor class rather than just equip weight would completely destroy fashion souls
No thanks
This made me realize that playing in the network test was a bad idea, 'cuz now it's making the wait even more unbearable after getting a small taste of that sweet sweet nectar.
I feel the same way
but it also made me sure that the game will be a masterpiece (did anyway really think otherwise??)
Luckily I have The Old Hunters (Which I still haven't even gotten to the first lamp in, gotta get good) and my first playthrough of DS2, to pass the time.
Ok what. The first lamp is literally where you spawn in. You mean besides that one :v:?

Yeah, besides that one. I haven't given it a real shot yet because of how tough the enemies are. Should I be at final boss-tier level before going in?
i started the DLC after beating the last area and i still got my ass kicked, its very difficult
It sort of gets easier once you get past ludwig then it gets harder again.
There's a lamp right next to Ludwig's arena, when you get to the tentacle beard with the cannon, go right and into the building. I died to ludwig 30+ times, then beat him and then found out there was a lamp near him so all the rushing I did was for nothing

It boggles my mind how people keep missing him. :v: This is why you spam the lock on.
I'm not seeing what's so unbearably bad about Blighttown. Maybe I'm just not far enough into it yet.
it depends on what entrance you used

either way i think its the combination of high heights, poison, and terrible frame drops that give blighttown its terrible reputation

The only reason why some people think it's bad is because they're impatient and try rushing through the level, which results in them losing their way and dying.

I went in through the Depths, and I honestly hated that place a lot more than I do Blighttown so far.
The high heights are mildly frustrating, but I got used to them pretty quickly and learned how to properly cross the rickety bridges without falling off. Poison hasn't been a huge problem, though that might be because I've been wearing the Shadow Set and wielding the Gargoyle Tail Axe to get as much poison resist as possible. As for frame drops, I've only really been getting those when I fight enemies near the bonfire.

Okay, that I can understand. I was tempted to rush through the place as well after hearing so many horror stories about it, but that impulse faded quickly.
blighttown is where the game drills into your brain that you can not or should not run through areas, you have to be slow and methodical, just like combat
I managed to get through blight town and to those ruins that are mostly ghosts. What do i do now?
Also how does one kill that...squid thing in blighttown?

I assume you mean the big tentacled thing that's guarding the item. Admittedly, I cheesed it by filling it with arrows from a safe distance away. I didn't even need what it was guarding, but it creeped me out so much that I had to kill it.
i sometimes forget exactly how much weird shit there is in dark souls 1
Don't forget the leeches or those bug things that shoot fire.
Also, the firekeeper is gone in the firelink shrine. What do i do with the firekeeper soul now?
The Bed of Chaos is such a strange boss fight. Progress through it is saved through deaths, so it's not really that "tense" of a fight.

Did you talk to a creepy guy in gold armor who is also missing? If so, he comes into play possibly later in the game via the blue orb the firekeeper dropped after her disappearance.

I'll be damned if I can find it again, but I once saw a video where a guy lined up a perfect arrow and killed the Bed of Chaos from the entrance to the boss fight and bypassed the entire fight to get the world record speedrun.

You can actually get behind the squid-thingy and attack it up close if you're man enough to get into the room behind it. It won't do shit if you attack it from behind.

Huh. Well, doesn't matter now. Good info for future runs, though.

Isn't like you can always come back. Eventually you will come back, everyone does.

Yeah. But the firekeeper only dropped her clothes. Nothing more.

Look well in your inventory, look for a black eyed orb.
Shit's about to go down, I see.
Oh. Shit. You're right. What do I do with this then.

You wait for the black eye orb to vibrate with the presence of another.

On top of that, remember to always read the description of the items to give you an idea or clue of what to do.
So are Elana's summons just RNG or what? The third time I fought her she summoned [sp]Velstadt[/sp] at like 50% HP but on the fifth fight I killed her and she only summoned two sets of skeletons.
It's a pretty cool fight when she doesn't summon an entire other boss
