It looks like this boss fight has that dark beast erupting out of him, kind of like one of the hollows did in the Network Stress Test Beta. I wonder if this is supposed to be more "abyss" corruption, or if it's something else entirely.
oh god damnit that's 2 second(?) phases that have been spoiled. what happened to bullshit surprises From :v:
The other one was [sp]the Giant tree thing having it's boss arena collapse and you both fall[/sp]
An important question regarding Bloodborne
Is it actually possible to navigate the Calice Dungeons in a way that allows you to go from dungeon A, to dungeon B, to dungeon C and so on and so forth or, in order to reach the deepest dungeons, there is actually forced farming involved and, sooner or later, you must stick to recreate selected dungeons you already cleared HOPING you'll find the right materials?

Some farming is usually required. That said, there are secret areas in the first few non-root dungeons that you can make use of to get more of the rare materials required for further chalices

I can post the Chalice dungeon overview map when I get home (that someone made on reddit like 10months ago) if you want

Didn't they also confirm the Dragon covenant unique zone? It's nothing like Ash Lake, it's pretty much Dark Souls 2's Dragon Aerie, an abandoned temple-like place in the clouds

Edit: Speaking of covenants, wouldn't it be neat if Blue Sentinels/whatever equivalent they have in DS3 can be summoned to the world of anyone that isn't a straight up sinner? Would make for a pretty huge war between reds & blues and greatly enhance the guardian aspect of the covenant. Might see more red signs with it in non-PvP zones with it aswell.
I can't decide if the Bed of Chaos is a nice puzzle boss and a welcome break from the two bosses before it or a tedious "mind the drop" obstacle course that requires you to die at the very least thrice before finally being able to acess the core and "defeat it". I'm leaning on the former
So, now I have all the Lords' souls I needed and I think I'll be raiding the final dungeon soon
However, before doing that, I'd very much like:
1) Discover how to initiate Artorias of the Abyss
2) Meet the smith inside the Catacombs
3) Meet Dark Sun Gwyndolyn
4) Doing anything else optional I may have missed up until now
Tips?

He DID become grossly incandescent
So I finally decided on starting a DS1 playthrough. Despite having the game in my library for a long time.
Is it just me, or is parrying a lot easier in DS1 than in DS2?

1) Go back where the hydra was, I heard someone moved there. You will need a pendant for later to be able to pass there. [sp]Kill the yellow crystal golem you find later after you kill the hydra in Darkroot Basin, talk to the person get the broken pendant from the crystal golem you find at the start of Duke's Archives, go back and enjoy the trip.[/sp]
2) In the catacombs, close to one of the levers you will find spiral stairs, take a look down and you will see you can drop down a few times, eventually you will find him.
3) You need to get a certain ring (The name and description should give you the hint) and equip it where it belongs, otherwise you can do a dark thing and the area should reveal without need of the ring. [sp]Get the treasure ring you find in the catacombs and equip it on the Darkmoon Tomb, otherwise "kill" the sun and you will get access to there without need of using the ring.[/sp]
4) This page has a checklist of things to do before going to new game plus: http://darksouls.wikidot.com/new-game-plus
requires you to die at the very least thrice
You can just quit the game after breaking one orb, break the other orb, and then make the drop. You don't have to die to beat her at all.
Truth be told, after the final boss I'll jump straight into Dark Souls II

It feels more "refined" to me.

[sp]So we're back in Lordran? Sweet! Guess this means that we can see it in a whole new light. DS1 was Lordran in the cusp of going to shit during the Age of Fire. Now it seems like we're going through the Age of Dark if that alternate ending is canon or part of an alternate timeline. "The flow of time itself is convoluted; with heroes centuries old phasing in and out." We might see the world in Dark rather than in a walled-off area like New Londo.[/sp]

[sp]I'm guessing that this is the tutorial boss indicating that "shit's fucked the last time people were here.[/sp]

Things I want in DSIII:
+More Giant bosses. I like the bosses against humans ala Bloodborne and Gwyn, but nothing gets my blood going like facing a monstrosity that's as big as a city. Make it like Shaodw of Colossus or The Dragon God in Demon's Souls where you have to attack certain points in the body to kill it. Make them feel HUGE!
+More freaky bosses and locations. The Soul series has proved that they can be both hard, rewarding, and terrifying. I want to go to areas that haunt me, enemies that look like they went through Hell and back many times over and elderitch abominations.
+ Bring back Priscilla! She's an optional boss that can be skipped. In the logic of games, that makes her ripe to return in some form or another.
+ A final boss that challenges everything with what you went though. [sp]Gehrman, Manus, Old Ivory King, and Orphan of Kos[/sp] prooved that bosses could challenge you like the final exams in college and still give you a satisfying end to an epic journey. This is the end, so lets make it count!
Truth be told, after the final boss I'll jump straight into Dark Souls II
You can't quit Dark Souls until you save [sp]Solarie of his impending doom.[/sp] Also getting the Dark Soul achievement, to prove you got good at the game.
Getting the Dark Soul achievement is less that you got good and more than you're willing to grind.

It sure is heartwarming to see that it seems quite so that Eldritch abominations are making a return.
Couldn't have taken another Dark Soul's game with an enemy roster of mainly hollowed dudes in armour and hollowed dudes in rags.

Parrying in DS2 sucks, most of the shields only parry after the animation has happened.
Parrying in DS2 sucks, most of the shields only parry after the animation has happened.
I never got the hang of it. DS2's parrying is really fucking confusing to say the least.
I tried parrying with a swordsman-build with a scimitar in my off hand and no timing seemed to be right.
Then I gave up at the point when I did a parry and it seemed like the enemy's sword and mine connected, as there were even sparks at the point where they should have.
But noooooo!
It's a good thing there are no bosses in Dark Souls II that require parrying.

I remember a sword being very popular in the DS2 PvP scene mainly because it parried at the beginning of the animation (similiar to how DS1 did it) rather than towards the end

The Scimitar had an early parry and the Monestary Scimitar had an instant parry. They fixed it in a number of patches but also broke it in every subsequent patch. I believe it's still broken. So if anyone wants to parry good use a scimitar.
I want to see a well-done boss called "The Hoarde". Meant to be co-op fight that pits you and a few fighters vs a hundred (or two) small guys that die relatively easy, don't do that much damage, but come at you full sprint.
Imagine 3 people with halberds or twinblades mercilessly clearing chunks of the hoarde at a time with spin2win.
Might be overkill, but let's throw in a 2nd phase near the very end where the little dudes come together to becomes a Legion-esque boss that forms blade and blunt weapons from all of his limbs.
His theme is Pinwheel plus Gaping Dragon.

Pinwheel's music is way too good for a fight that lasts an average of 20 seconds.

If it had to have a second form, I dunno about a "combination of all bodies" thing... It's too expected (Plus, The Rotten already has that kinda thing).
I would actually want more of an "OH FUCK, RUN!" thing where you legitimately have to flee somewhere and clear a large opening to safety. Like, there is an immense mass of them coming from a distance, and they're all explosive suicide mummies. End the fight on the safety ridge by killing some sort of "Hoarde Master" perhaps? Or end it on a cutscene with a large explosion and a wave of souls washing up to you.

Not sure how you could communicate to the player that they need to run in the middle of a boss fight
Not sure how you could communicate to the player that they need to run in the middle of a boss fight
Have NPC allies who do little damage but have a lot of health, once you're supposed to run they should stop fighting and book it. Maybe have them have some kind of cinder effect so they stand out in a crowd and you notice them run.
