Dark Souls + Demon's Souls + Bloodborne Megathread VII. Now Only Embers Remain
Not sure how you could communicate to the player that they need to run in the middle of a boss fight
Environmental cues? Have the fight be in a big room as the enemy pours out through holes in the room. Then as it goes on and you shave off 10% of the bosses health by killing more than a dozen of them, the floor collapses ala Stray Demon entrance from Dark Souls into a large hallway area. Realizing that you are only doing little damage against them as they encroach on you like the Goblins in Fellowship of the Ring, you and your buddy run in the opposite direction. You come to the end to face these "Hoarde Master", whose fighting style is random with each new playthrough. Killing it will beat the boss and teleport you back to the room that you fell from.
Bonus points if it leads to a covenant similar to the Rat Covenant.
Extra bonus points if the hallway is an underground labyrinth for more LOTR references and/or multiple "Hoarde Masters".
I played Scholar of the First Sin for a bit last night with my cousin and all it did was make me sad it wasn't Bloodborne :v:
Aaaand the cuteness overload continues.

JoJo and Souls games are always a welcome combination. Still waiting to someone make part 2 anime opening with Dark Souls characters... Because I want that to happen.

Perfect
Also, if you think that spoiler is bad, well, they confirmed what this location is.

I don't think it's the same one from DS1, it looks completely different.
It may just be an ubiquitous term.

Shiit, I hope that's the hub. Majula was too peaceful and calm for me. Didn't have that cozy feeling of "shitty little campfire that everyone hangs around because it's less shitty than the rest of the world"
I also hope characters pop in and leave throughout the game instead of just becoming static npcs
i don't think there's just one firelink shrine. there's probably multiple shrines where fire can be linked around the dark souls world.
although it would be super cool if it was

i think it's been confirmed as the hub
yeah a little sunset town by the seaside didn't fit well as a dark souls hub, even though it looked pretty. a shitty shrine on top of a cold mountain where everyone is miserable feels much more appropriate as a dark souls hub.
Huh. I liked Majula, having the entire world be depressing is too much. Majula was also one of the areas that I think actually looked nice rather than areas that looked like mat_fullbright was turned on. It was really spacious which meant it was good for weapon testing and I rather liked looking over the cliff at the sea.
I didn't like how half the NPCs you meet in the world decided to sit their asses down in it after you talk to them once, though, and those little pigs were kind of dumb as well.

I couldn't appreciate the theme in-game because I've heard, like, only the first 20 seconds of it before defeating the boss
I've never even heard the chanting at around the 30 second mark. Poor Pinwheel.

Only the merchant NPCs did this though. Everyone else had a unique questline and when you finished it they either dissapeared or finally settled down, perhaps not even in Majula. No idea what you guys are talking about, things were decently mobile, they just didnt make the merchants warp around because that would be annoying as shit.

I seriously can't think of any of the NPC's that moved around after coming to majula

Herald did I guess? but she never actually leaves she just appears in other places

If that's what you guys meant then yeah, no questline NPC stops at Majula. But I don't see how that's a problem either, they just move around in other places.
I for one liked Majula's atmosphere and thought it was more or less fitting to the game. It wasn't gloomy or bleak like Dark Souls was originally, but honestly, Dark Souls 2 doesn't really have a bleak atmosphere. It felt like it was supposed to be a grand journey as you trekked across this continent (that was implied to be far larger than it actually was in the worldspace). The kingdom is finished, there's nothing left. All that remains are towns like Majula. Abandoned. Desolate. Quiet. The sun is setting... [sp]It's all rather tranquil...[/sp]

Absolutely. Dark Souls 1 felt like more of a "Rage against the dying light" scenario, where you are trying to prolong the Age of Fire [sp](unless you're a bellend)[/sp]. Dark Souls 2 felt like it took place after a similar story. But people are aware of a cycle now, this is inevitable. There's no "ooh maybe we can do this!" Because it's been stomped into the ground again and again, might as well settle in for the ride.
I'd love to see these sets in DS3.

I disagree, I think it looks like it transformed sort of into a monastery over those thousands of years. I could imagine so since that firekeeper that apparently stays there could be the very same one you give the ability to speak again from DS1 (I have no idea though)
those arches on the right side of the structure are way too similar to firelinks; but I agree with the thought of there being multiple firelink shrines

Is your game cursed with the Darksign? You've been on a streak with these game glitches.
Reminds me of this one.

We've all ran around as Glencour in our time with DS2.
The tracking on fume ultra great sword is so fuckin horrendous. I don't understand how people call it one of the best ultra great swords. Sure, its damage is high but you can't hit shit with it. The greatsword is so much better.

People like it cuz it's special attack blocks like a shield before slamming it down on your opponent. Makes it easy to bait people into attacking you and then punishing them for it.
shoutouts to the undead dragon in valley of drakes snatching me on its wingtip and flinging me off the cliff

Basically anything with a tail will move you without a warning to the other side and you will probably fall to your death. Like the Bell Gargoyles or the Prowling Demon in the shortcut of Lost Izalith.
That demon on ng+, skeletal beasts, and the room with the last divine ember are nightmares
titanite demons can go fuck themselves pretty much. there's basically no good way to fight them since 4 out of 5 times they're in some shitass location
