Dark Souls + Demon's Souls + Bloodborne Megathread VII. Now Only Embers Remain
I would say it gets worse, but its still incredible. It is in part because Izalith is arguably the worst area in any souls game, or that TotG can be very frustrating for players. I enjoy Sens/Anor Londo a lot more than the lord souls areas, but they are still great.
Lost Izalith isn't bad so much as dull. There's lots of huge enemies scattered around to make the area *look* difficult without ever actually presenting a challenge. It's kind of frustrating. And then you kill the clusterfuck boss so you can wittle your health down JUST enough for it to be annoying instead of challenging.
It feels like development of it was rushed but it isn't bad.
That's exactly why I consider it to be the worst. It's barren, lazy, rushed, and completely different than basically every other carefully crafted area in the game.
lost izalith is shitty, rushed mapping and poor enemy variety combined with high copy-and-paste
Not mentioning the huge amount of red lighting that got dangerously close to making me suffer a seizure
yeah the post-lordvessel Dark Souls isn't exactly the best. Feels extremely rushed
The lack of a bonfire in the Crystal Cave is really frustrating.

The run only takes, like, a minute. If you roll, you'll avoid all of the golems fairly easily, and all the invisible bridges that lead directly to Seath are pretty much straight lines. The hardest part of the run for me is the Man-Eater Shell room, and I can usually just lure the one near the fog door away and sprint through.

Which is exactly what I do now, and frankly yes, it is simple. But that doesn't negate the tedium of having to make that run every time I die to Seath, which is a LOT if I'm going for his fucking idiot tail weapon. It's just a slight annoyance that could've been easily avoided. The Crystal Caves are small enough that making them just SLIGHTLY longer, and having a midpoint bonfire would've been acceptable. The Duke's and New Londo have the same issues, that the run is just fast enough to not be annoying, but it's still tedious.
just be glad that's longest bonfire-to-boss run you'll be encountering. if it helps at all, be sure to aim for the very tip of his tail if you're trying to cut it off. it doesn't all fall off like gaping dragon's tail

Not really, though the shortcut one is
I still remember fondly the slog between Anor Londo's first bonefire and Ornstein and Smough
I got very used to it

Aye, I know. I've beaten Dark Souls 1 a few times. I just have some serious critiques.

Did you never find the second one?

once you open all the shortcuts and bridge the two areas it's a shorter jog I'd say
Not really, though the shortcut one is
There's a long way around?
I agree that DS1 kinda got worse, but it wasn't really unbearable. It was downgrading from excellent to very good.
Dark Souls 2 on the other hand is consistently okay the whole ride through!! That's a plus!!

Everyone seemed to forget that strike weapons are pretty much king in DS2, given how many knights there are. Seriously, I got to the point in DS2 in the Old Iron King area where I could 2 shot all the standard knights and tortoise dudes with a 2 handed +7 Blacksmith's Hammer. (and a ring of blades+1 one that was an absolute bitch to get)
At that point, I eventually found the old Knight Hammer and upped that sucker to +10 and lightning infused it. (2 handed, ring of blades+1, and R2 strong attack forever.)
At that point, I could pretty handily solo the 3 Dumbos of Sunkern Ruins. And lemme tell ya, nothing is as satisfying as face-mashing enemies with a gigantic mace. 735 dmg is so, so lovely. (barring elemental resistances, ofc)
Kept a Falchion +10 for things too quick to hit with the mace tho. Lovely weapon that one was.
It might've been me, but upon realizing that swords/bladed weapons weren't actually the best choice in the game made everything much, much more enjoyable.
Edit: Oh, and using a bow helped tons.
Seriously, why does no one use a bow? Luring a single enemy out of a group is tons easier than getting swarmed.
I like to keep a heavy crossbow for that. it trivialized more scenarios than I could count
jack of all trades sword and board medium armour with a crossbow master race

go home DEX you're out of ur league
What's a good weapon in Demon's Souls that scales off of Strength?

Strike damage was OP because practically every single enemy in the game was an armored knight, playing off the whole "Drangleic is made out of several kingdoms united!" aspect. IMO this kinda hurt the game because it cut a lot on the variety and made even the humanoid monsters in the game still pretty generic because of how many humanoids you had to fight on your way to them.
I hope DS3 realizes how not-good this was, both in the aspect that it broke PvE balance and how it made the game's enemy design less fun to interact with. I mean, even if DS1 had tons of humanoid enemies they atleast varied it up by not giving all of them heavy armor.

Dragon Bone Smasher or Crushing Knight Sword are your best bets.

it was lol
so, I'm playing the Scholar of the first sin and I want to know if Lucatiel has a summon sign before [sp]smelter demon.[/sp]
I vaguely remember that she did in the pre-scholar edition, but I couldn't find it in scholar.

Her sign is still there, but you need meet her in all her locations prior to Iron Keep first in order to get her sign to show up. You probably missed her in No Man's Wharf since they moved her location there.

I met her in No Man's Wharf and the Black Gulch. I didn't meet her in the earthen peak though.
[editline]31st January 2016[/editline]
I was also able to summon her for [sp]the lost sinner[/sp] but she just stayed behind the fog gate (she must've bugged out because I refuse to believe that her AI got much worse)
K, just beat DS2, did everything except for the dark covenant. But i gotta say i didn't enjoy it at all. I felt like i had to beat it because it's dark souls and DS3 is coming out soon.

Don't worry, because you ventured so close to Drangleic, you'll forget most things in due time.

Her location was also moved in Earthen Peak. She's in the poison-soaked room before Covetous Demon where the Estus Flask Shard used to be.
