Dark Souls + Demon's Souls + Bloodborne Megathread VII. Now Only Embers Remain

Replaying Dark Souls 1 reminded me of how many small details they removed with DS2. There's no miracle rings that increase the power of your miracles near where other players used miracles, because humanity was removed there's no way to get humanity by killing enemies, because of the change to bonfires you don't get a free estus charge when another player kindles a bonfire. You also don't see player ghosts/shadows just running around the world, to the point where I'm not even sure it happens outside of bonfires.
Having ratings give you some health was a nice addition but the removal of the other features makes you feel much more alone in the world.

They also got rid of Vagrants. I loved those little things, seeing one felt like a notable event.
Yesterday I created my character in Dark Souls II and just did the first steps
I don't know why yet, but the first impact was really weird, maybe it's due to the improved graphics
... STORY CUTSCENES?!

Just that one, and that's just so the Firekeepers can take the piss out of you.

The only other ones you'll see before the end are boss intros and even then, they ruined them with that shitty vignette.
STORY CUTSCENES?!
haha you'll lose your souls, Dark Souls I was really hard guys, remember how hard that game was? We at From Software remember how hard it was. Boy you sure lost a lot of souls! Haha. Souls.
Wow, I never knew Dark Souls 2 is only rated T. I'm probably never going to play it, so can someone explain what makes 2 somehow less graphic than 1, because from what I've seen it may just be because the bloodspray isn't quite as large.

It's pretty much entirely because there's no huge bloodspray when you backstab an enemy. The grotesque enemies in DS2 are on the same level as the ones of DS1, and a few are arguably more disturbing. Even when you bleed in DS2 there's no bloodspray, which is really weird considering bleed fucks you over pretty hard in DS2.
I love invading in Nightmare of Mensis and trying my best to help people unlock shortcuts and stuff. When it works it feels so nice, joined this dude and started putting shining coins to make a trail to the elevator while he was off doing something else. I activated the shortcut but he wasn't having any of it and refused to follow me there. After an awkward pause he realized I wasn't trying to kill him. I just ended up following the dude go all the way cheering him on with gestures until he went up to the elevator, paused for a while the looked at me upong suddenly realizing what I did. I promptly gesture Shh! and dash backwards off the shaft

Also AFK players are the best, I just punch them over and over again until they're completely bloodied in a sea of their own blood and leave them with like no health and kill myself to let them figure out what happened when they get back :tinfoil:

I thought poison was scarier than bleed in ds2.
Good god I just installed DS2 SOTFS and holy shit these keyboard controls are unforgivably shitty
I spend ten minutes tweaking the controls so that I don't have to re-learn how to use a mouse and keyboard and I wind up accidentally losing all my changes because it doesn't fucking tell you how to save your changes. ALL OF THE BUTTON PROMPTS ARE FOR THE FUCKING CONTROLLER.
It's weird how fumingly angry DS2 makes me on so many different occasions, yet DS1 is literally in my top two favorite games ever.

You can completely counteract poison with 2 bloodgems, bleed reduces you max stamina and stamina regeneration which can be pretty devastating in PvP.

I made a Bleed/Poison PvP build and it completely fucked with people, both in a murdering sense and in a mind-game sense. Nobody expect to be hunted down with daggers and claws and status'd to death.

THANK YOU HUNTER!
BUT HUMANITY'S NEXT CHILDHOOD IS IN ANOTHER GAMEPLAY CYCLE!
I can't beat blood starved beast :(

He's weak to fire (fire paper) and serrated weapons (like the saw cleaver/spear) and can also be lured with pungent blood cocktails.
[sp]He's also optional, if you beat Cleric Beast then you can buy the hunter chief emblem and skip him[/sp]

Strafe to the left and he will never hit you (probably)

huh?
I'm seeing plenty of player shades around

I almost never see any. Which really bothers me because I saw them all the time in DS1.

Was just playing SoTFS on Xbone and was seeing a shit load of shades running around.
[editline]31st January 2016[/editline]
Wasn't seeing a lot of blood stains though. Maybe everyone finally got good.
There's still a lot of shades even in Demon's Souls. Also tons of bloodstains :v: Even helped a dude beat Flamelurker y-day by leaving my summon and waiting like 30 secs.
How tight is VAC in DS2? I kind of want to use questionable software so I can use the bonfire sit animation for screenshots but I'm feeling it's not at all worth the risk
cheat engine scripts are safe
Isn't it pretty much that you only get softbanned for messing with your SM?
Isn't it pretty much that you only get softbanned for messing with your SM?
One of my friends went full hack mode, using CE scripts for days, all sorts of nasty shit for PvP.
Curse weapons, invincibility, making a build from scratch. You name it.
He eventually got softbanned because he used CE to give himself a name with one too many characters.
[sp]He then used the steam family share feature to continue playing as normal on a separate account.[/sp] :v:

Blood-Starved Beast is fucking cursed for me.
I helped like 5 people defeat it and we won easily, it barely managed to land a hit on us.
But when I summon help it owns my coop-partner pretty much instantly and then I get owned by the buffed thing. This is on NG+. It was super-easy when it came up in the Chalice-dungeon but now it's fucking me over.
huh?

Yeah I see even more than in DS1, including bloodstains. This is because you connect to every single player that has gone through the area/is going through rather than just whoever you're noded with at the time.
Of course this also means you don't see player ghosts of your friends while you co-op repeating their last actions constantly. I loved that.
I don't know why they felt they needed to split up several stats in two for Dark Souls 2, so what exactly should I level up beside dexterity?

Increase Adaptability until your Agility is 100, that should bring the i-frames on your roll to about the same as what you had in DS1.
Adaptability was the worst decision, i hope they change it in DS2.
STORY CUTSCENES?!
And they all are shit. Except for dark ending which is somehow okay.
Boss cutscenes are basically "Look at this awesome bloodied anus effect we made!".
