It makes me really wish we could have explored the Kiln more.
Come to think of it, I could had expected more outlandish and alien geometries from the final areas of Bloodborne
I hate what they did to iron keep in sotfs, it's even worse than before and there's no way to rush through all the alonne knights straight to smelter demon
Oh NG+ Iron Keep in Scholar is even more fun. "Let's put big tough Red Alonne Captains everywhere, in fact, no, fuck it, let's put two in the furnace in the middle, that'll surprise the player!"

anyone else here excited for dark souls 3
As long as it's better than DS2. But I'm gonna wait until people buy it and review it before I consider getting it myself
anyone else here excited for dark souls 3
I am. Got the collector's edition preordered. Is there any word of the FPS though? Going from the PS4/Xbone SoTFS port's 60fps to Bloodborne's 30fps is a bit jarring. I watched some old network stress test footage and it seemed to be 60fps?
Even with the separated level feel, they took the lazy route for a lot of levels, Iron keep is tiny, Lost Bastille is forgettable stone rooms, the ruins part of the Shaded Ruins legit looks like an alpha version of the level, with like two textures, two types of enemies and a boss that is basically creatively bankrupt, all in one more or less empty level. And somehow they didn't give a shit about the primal bonfires, the main focus of the first half of that game, yet once you beat the boss? Shitty textured rectangle room with nothing but a bonfire in them.
My biggest grievance with DS2 is the square rooms. At least DS had a low enough view distance that you couldn't see the big square rooms you travelled through for most of the game. But DS2, Earthen Peak is just a massive square room with some gears in it. Every illusory room is a little square. And I really wanted to like the ruined bridge of the Shaded Ruins. The collapsed bridge passing the little keep could've been such a neat place to explore but as you said, it's entirely a single texture. And lion men?
Technically, you do travel to 3 "convoluted" locations. Number 1 is the Painted World...in a painting. 2 is getting dragged back in time to when Artorias was still alive. Via a portal too! And 3 is wherever the hell the Kiln of the First Flame is (the final level, place covered in ash, you traverse a weird-ass hall of light to reach it.) Also, travel back and forth from the Asylum is a bit weird since nothing ever changes back in lordran/firelink/wherever that place is, no matter how much time you spend at the Asylum. There's also traveling via the Lordvessel, too. You just pick a place and POOF, you're there, no time difference, its just like you had been there all along and just then decided to move about the area.
Do you even know what 'convoluted' means

The general level design is better but there's still a lot of mossy gray rooms, ashy gray rooms and snowy gray rooms, Iron King worst of all.
maybe I'm not astute enough but I honestly barely noticed the way the world was split up in dark souls 2 until somebody mentioned it to me afterwards and even then I was just like "ok"
maybe I'm not astute enough but I honestly barely noticed the way the world was split up in dark souls 2 until somebody mentioned it to me afterwards and even then I was just like "ok"
I mostly cared because DS1 made a huge point of having excellent level design. Play through DS2 only to notice that it doesn't have veri gud level design and it was just kinda dissapointing. Not really a big deal, but nonetheless present and very much a flaw.
my god, PvP in 2 is even laggier A lot more whiffs all around and being a tank when unlocked doesn't help
My big problems with DS2 comes from the disconnected level design, and enemy placement/layout. We know why the levels are so spread out and disconnected from late design choices, but a chunk of the enemy placement in DS2 is describable as, we had an enemy tool and clicked a lot. SOTFS both fixed and added to it. It really just feels like half the area they threw enemy down at random to pad out what you had to go through. It turns half the area into needless slog fests.
Oh, and I managed to flawless Alonne last night ( in co-op ) ( with a shield ) ( but I mostly rolled ) It counts right? He did the anim, my SS was a bit late though cuz I was freaking out
Fighting the Pursuer is like trying to dig a tunnel with a tea spoon And before someone points that out to me, no, the ballistas can't be used relayably
Fighting the Pursuer is like trying to dig a tunnel with a tea spoon And before someone points that out to me, no, the ballistas can't be used relayably
They can if you parry him just in front of them. Pursuer is pretty much the only enemy in the entirety of DS2 that i have the parry timing down on.
Fighting the Pursuer is like trying to dig a tunnel with a tea spoon And before someone points that out to me, no, the ballistas can't be used relayably
try parrying him, or just try and hug his shield, that usually does the trick (you may also want to try upgrading your weapon just a little bit, or using some gold pine resin - also try using strike weapons)
Try strafe right.
Try strafe right.
Basically this. Strafing to the right avoids the majority of his attacks.
Basically this. Strafing to the right avoids the majority of his attacks.
And the best time to parry him while you're strafing right is when he does his upswing, you can bait his charge to pretty much chain-parry him.
I'm dual wielding, so no parry
dodge at him to the right
Oh, don't get me wrong, I got the dodging routine on ALL his attacks right It just takes so long to chip away at his health
I'm dual wielding, so no parry
So switch to your fist and parry that fucker while flexing as hard as you can, be a MAN
he's a dude in armour, so get a mace or something
I keep hearing this trend of Elias and just not doing damage to bosses. Like, what's going on, are your weapons crap, your stats or are you just exaggerating?
So switch to your fist and parry that fucker while flexing as hard as you can, be a MAN
just be a man and punch him to death. pugilist runs are by far the superior method of playing
I keep hearing this trend of Elias and just not doing damage to bosses. Like, what's going on, are your weapons crap, your stats or are you just exaggerating?
in his defense fighting the pursuer at the beginning is quite a chore when I first encountered one the best weapon I had was a standard Broadsword
