I love the gritty new Sound effects, and the Dark Souls summon sound returning.
The summoning sounds in DS1 are like my favorite sounds ever. I can't express the amount of disappointment I felt when they didn't return in DS2. Now that I know they're back in DS3 brings tears of joy to my eyes.
With all the stuff going on with DS3, DS1 seems to be picking back up a bit, co-op'd in the church for about an hour, had a bunch of summons and even a few invasions, though obviously it was a twink and killed me but me and two other people managed to gang up on him.
DS1's probably the best place to practice for DS3. It's pretty obvious DS3 is running on an updated engine of DS1, so a lot of the movement and mechanics are the same. Also explains why a lot of DS1's sound effects are suddenly back.
After playing a lot of Bloodborne, I'm glad to see Estus again in DS3. (No surprise obviously) Going back to the consumable only system, imo, was a very silly decision.

Vials are for when you take a big hit and need to back off.

I really hate having to spend like 5-10 mins farming whenever I start to run out of. Especially since you have to sit through 1-2 loading screens just to reset an area.

Having farming runs that can only be reset with 2 loading screen or a death is kind of awkward in general. Same as teleporting to the dream and back just so it resets your vial/bullet count if you have some in storage. The game feels like it still has a bit of bonfire logic, but without actual bonfires.

I need to finish the second souls game but it's really hard.. I was gifted the Scholar edition but due to college I still haven't finished it. On the Steam version myself, sometimes great amounts of time passes without seeing any of my fellow man, but I may be playing at odd times. I think I'm in the forest area with the pretty sky. I need to beat that poison world too..
bloodborne =/= dark souls [editline]18th October 2015[/editline] like, they can't use the exact system for both, that doesn't even make any sense
He wasn't saying anything like that I missed estus too, simply because in DaS you can take risks, heal up and progress worry free because your estus would always be around after I died, while in Bloodborne you feel more tense at losing healing items because you know you'll have to win them back. At its best it adds to the stressful feeling of the game, but at its worst you end up grinding just to get your items back. So having replenishing estus again is almost a privilege
what was that ash estus thing? Do we have a finite magic system now?
I wonder if we're going to get different voices for our characters.
oh god alfred what have i let you do
You can bring her back if you place the queenly flesh in the altar of despair
what was that ash estus thing? Do we have a finite magic system now?
Restores mana. And yes, it's finite.
You can bring her back if you place the queenly flesh in the altar of despair
that requires killing ebrietas though, which i just tried. did not go well. boy i sure fucking love all these bells in nightmare of mensis
Fighting her is tricky because a successful strategy you used before might not work again. When she begins to use A Call Beyond, move in a circle around her(you won't actually go around her since the attack doesn't last that long so you'll just move in an arc) and none of the attacks will hit you. Either stay close to her to bait her into smashing her head down so you can do bonus damage to her head and get free hits or keep the camera unlocked so you can dodge her charge attack which is extremely difficult to dodge any other way. Start the fight by sneaking up behind her and hitting her with a charge attack. If you have a kirkhammer, you can tap R2 right after to swing upwards and chin check her as she turns around
I'm not gonna worry about her for now, I'm just going through Nightmare of Mensis now, Micolash is being a jerk
I'm not gonna worry about her for now, I'm just going through Nightmare of Mensis now, Micolash is being a jerk
When you fight him directly the second time, stunlock him then use beast roar when your stamina runs out so you can recharge a bit, then repeat until he's dead. That fight is a bitch to repeat and his AOE attack is something you only survive by chance
I don't know how many times I've said this in this thread already, but you can interrupt Micolash's AoE attack (A Call Beyond) by just shooting him in the dick.
I don't mind the fight, it's chasing him around that I hate. On top of that, he keeps on repeating his lines to the point where it goes from annoying, to funny, to please make it stop.
You can also just hug him when he casts it and they don't track enough to make that curve. Now for Wet Nurse. OH BOY [editline]18th October 2015[/editline] what the fuck how many are there
whoever designed the shrine of Amana needs to have their entire family killed in front of them. "Okay guys, lets put tons of annoying shit everywhere. Lets make it be nearly entirely waste deep in water that slows you down a ton, have dozens of casters will take huge chunks of your health off every hit, which they can also practically machine gun at you. Lets also add pitfalls randomly in the water that will instantly kill you without warning. Ooh! One more thing! lets also add in a few dark phantom spawns randomly spread out, and make those caster things be able to instantly heal everything around them with nearly no cooldown." Absolutely fucking dread this place. [t]http://puu.sh/kPu2g/b974c90513.jpg[/t] And then this fucking guy shows up at the party wearing the same dress as me
Lets also add pitfalls randomly in the water that will instantly kill you without warning.
Torch is your friend. Also git gud.

Why's there an icon of a shield next to your shield?
I believe it symbolizes the shield's ability to parry. I noticed every shield that can parry has that symbol, while the shields that don't have it will have the sword arts symbol instead.
to let you know that the shield that you equipped and are using is in fact a shield, and not a small mammal that is simply pretending. What is "powerstancing" exactly. I don't understand what the hubbub is, and the wiki isn't helping
What is "powerstancing" exactly. I don't understand what the hubbub is, and the wiki isn't helping
In Ds2 if you meet 150% of the requirements to equip a weapon, you can equip 1 of the weapon in each hand and hold down Triangle/Y and enter powerstance mode. This lets you use special attacks that swing both weapons at once. 150% of the requirements example: Weapon needs 10 strength, can power stance at 15 strength
