It took me, like a year and a half to beat Dark Souls originally, and now in the ever ending saga of Dark Souls II I am finally at the next foe, the [sp]Chariot Riders of the Storm.[/sp]
Well, he rode in his circle and instantly killed me. I think there's something to this fight.. further investigation is needed. I feel like this might be one of those gimmick fights.
wut
that was probably the easiest boss fight in the entire game

It can be a pain in the ass the first go round since there's respawning skeletons. If you don't know how to stop them(or that they come back) it can be a bit of a surprise.

A minor niggle I have with some members of the community and directed at nobody in particular: can we stop with this attitude of "why'd you die to that, it's so easy?" It's why we have a reputation for being a hostile and elitist community. Dark Souls is the kind of game with a very steep skill curve, so of course a boss that's easy to people like us that have sunk a frankly embarrassing number of hours into the series is going to be a bit more of a problem to somebody that's relatively inexperienced. This is a great series of games, and I love seeing new players come into this thread and share their experiences. Every time we talk down to them for how bad we think they play, we forget the days when the Gargoyles could push our shit in, and all the times a humble torch hollow caught us with a nasty combo and sent us back to the bonfire. It pushes people away from the community and the games, and that's a damn shame.
I remember when I picked up Dark Souls for the first time many years ago 'cuz I was told it was a good metroidvania-style game and I love me some metroidvanias, but the Bell Gargoyles kicked my shit in so bad I thought it was impossible. Took me many hours 'till I finally got them. And then when I made it to O&S it took me like 2 days straight. :v:
Nowadays whenever I replay DS1 for fun I just blaze through everything like it's nothing at all. But it's a shame when I see people who complain how hard a boss is and want to give up, 'cuz they're really missing out. A lot of times I offer help as a phantom but they never pick me up on that offer.

my friend was stuck on gargoyles for several months recently, ive never heard of anybody else having such a problem so i cant help but think shes really bad at it :v:

Yeah I'm kinda on dogmachine's side with this; first time going in blind doing a gimmick boss like that, odds are you aren't going to get out unmolested. I also didn't say it was difficult or that I was stuck at the boss, just that I was killed by it the first time. Anywho,
If anyone wants to add me on steam for Dark Souls 1 or Dark Souls 2 shenanigans, add me on steam. I don't know many people who play Dark Souls to be honest. :(
I get destroyed by torch hollows every time I play DaS, fuckin gg
For real though I think being experienced but underestimating enemies is just as dangerous as being inexperienced. I started another Bloodborne run recently and got bodied by Cleric beast 7 times, while just last night I managed to kill Shadows of Yharnam in one go (first time that's happened)
That chariot fight can go very badly very quickly if you get unlucky with the skeletons and they block you from getting in the side alcoves. I doubt a first time player would have any idea what to do as that type of boss has never been seen before in DaS2 or the previous games. I only knew what to do from watching beta gameplay and seeing the trailers

I assumed you were meant to dodge the chariot on my first run. I actually managed it, which hasn't happened since and felt awesome, but then I got cornerfucked by a group of skeletons.
Big thing with the chariot, kill the necromancers in the alcoves. The chariot should wreck the skellies from there so all you have to focus on is the boss itself.

I'm playing through Bloodborne for the first time right now and I got Shadows of Yharnam on my first try. I also beat Gascoigne on my second try, but Vicar Amelia, Rom and The One Reborn got me many times.
It's interesting how different bosses can be difficult for different people.
Yeah, I'm in my first play-through of Dark Souls 2, was gifted the Scholar one, and since I have no idea how to play video games in general, I put all my states into strength and HP.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/kTmdura.jpg[/t]
I don't know if that breaks the game but I beat the following on the first try: [sp]The Last Giant, Skeleton Lords, Lost Sinner, Flexile Sentry, Old Dragonslayer, and one more I'm forgetting..[/sp]
STR seems to be a favoured stat by the game itself. A lot of things can be easily staggered on a Strength build.

That's super lucky considering I went into the game blind.
Souls games confuse my shit so funky the first time around. I think I fell ass backwards into a good thing in DS1 too back in the day.

O&S and Fume knight were so stressful to beat on my first play through that my insides were in physical pain from repeatedly losing to them for hours.
Of course, now I've learned that all you really need is a nights sleep to beat them.
Been helping my friend through Bloodborne. We've killed all the bosses so far except for the ones in the Nightmare of Mensis and past that.
I accidently screwed up Eileen's quest for my friend. [sp]We killed Rom before going back and helping her fight in the Tomb of Odeon, so now she's trying to fight him in the Grand Cathedral.[/sp] Other than that, we've made good progress on everything. We'll probably finish the game today.
I've managed to play Dks3 at Milan Game Week, sadly it was only 6 minutes so I tried speedrunning to the boss, as soon as I triggered the cutscene, the time ran out. :v:
But overall it feels great, still so easy to backstab enemies.
Beat the Chariot guy.

Found an NPC who wanted stuff I get from invading apparently, so I'm reaping the souls of the living now I guess.
Does anyone still use Blue Covenant?

Time for Dark Souls 2 Adventures WHOOA
God bless this brave person for literally teaching me how to play the game THROUGH EMOTES as we're playing together. "So.. attacking walls does not make them disappear like in DS1.."

"So... a torch.. what do I do with it again?"

And now, unto the next challenge! Huzzah!

(You just know that this player knew I was new, how kind and patience this lovely person was)
Helped a new guy in a similar fashion a few months back. Saw that his windmill wasn't burnt and he was having issues with poison.
And helped another guy discover hidden walls in [sp]The Ruin Sentinels Boss Room[/sp]
guess what i played at comicon today :VVVV

A few weeks ago I tried to help some newbie in Blight Town. He had a very classic elite knight set and drake sword together with some shield.
And this guy just would not leave the lower bonfire. I would gesture him towards Quelaag's domain and he just wouldn't take the hint.
So I went ahead to murder the shit out of the infested barbarians. Once done I try to wave in hopes that my newby friend would notice me. And then I get the message telling that the host is dead :disappoint:
I started wondering if he'd been killed by the mosquitoes.
I'm doing a level 1 playthrough of DS1 and I swear to god I've been invaded 4 times trying to get to Ornstein and Smough
Is Bloodborne worth picking up? It's currently on sale on the PSN store and I've been itching for a new game for a while.
does a bear shit in the woods

It's the only exclusive that makes the PS4 worth owning
dark souls might be the best series ever
got invaded, we both got naked, and started fist fighting and jumping around the level like an obstacle course

Also, I don't know much about websites other than steam for buying games, but what's up with this and why is it cheap? I actually have friends who used the site before so I know it has to be a real website or something, but I never heard of games like that selling for cheap before they release. Is it normal?
Welp, picked up my PS4 and started in on Bloodborne. Yharnam is kind of a clusterfuck, i made it to a sewer area, died, but found some sick hunter gear. Tried going across the bridge with the werewolves on it, died. Killed the big guy with the big axe, nothing. Doesn't help that i've only found a single Lamp Post so far, which is extemely obnoxious. I also can't get parrying down but that'll happen eventually. Dogs still as annoying.

DS2 spoiled everyone with frequent bonfires. Bloodborne is more like DS1 where lamps are very scarce. Central Yharnam only has 2 lamps. Well, 3 if you count the starting lamp at the Clinic.
[editline]derp[/editline]
Also we should engage in some jolly co-op some time. :v: Trying to get back into Bloodborne lately so I can be ready for the DLC next month.

Kinguin is a key reseller, sometimes their keys are legit sometimes they're just stolen from the inside of retail boxes. AFAIK they're the least shady of the shady fucks who resell game keys. You'd probably be fine buying from them, and the worst that'll happen is you'll have the game revoked if the key turns out to be stolen.
How can there be pre-order keys already selling for Steam if it's not even in the store yet?
