OK, so this is what I've learned so far. Talk to Valtr, Master of the League (aka Mr. Buckethead) and he will ask you to join the League. Join it and you'll receive a new Caryll Rune called Impurity, which increases your max HP by 2% during Co-op. After a successful co-op session, you'll get this goofy little thing. Okay so the Old Hunter's Bell literally lets you summon the Old Hunters, i'm in NG+ in the fountain square with the first Brick Troll and there was a big red messenger cluster and it let me summon Old Hunter Father Gascoigne. It's apparently a giant snake head and it's a Hunter Tool. Though what's unusual about it is that unlike the other Tools which require Arcane, this one requires Bloodtinge instead.

Seeing as Bloodborne can be classed as the fastest souls game, I think you'll find the difference quite disconcerting The bosses are less 'play clever and find an opening to strike quickly' and more 'HERE IS THE WEAK POINT IN HIS MOVEMENTS, HIT HIM NOW' or 'SURVIVE UNTIL THE BOSS GETS TIRED AND STOPS ATTACKING' Still a relatively fun game though
