Dark Souls + Demon's Souls + Bloodborne Megathread VII. Now Only Embers Remain

scholar of the first sin upgrade is 12€ right now, is it worth it for someone who didnt buy the DLC for Das2.
Also does what does it change for the base game?
Replaying the game for the nth time, I'm really starting to appreciate the magnitude of the threaded cane for a skill-based character
While it's at its weakest against bosses (something that can be said for all the trick weapons but the strenght-based ones), if you care to level up your skill stat at a nice pace you get a weapon that consume less stamina per swing than the others and an alternate mode (the whip) that does a fucking good job against crowds of enemies
Is there any new chalice stuff in the new DLC for bloodborne?
also, what's your guys favorite weapons from the new dlc so far
I still can't kill Ludwig, I feel like I should just restart and make a new character. The farthest I got him was to 20% hp left.

€12 is a great price if you're going into the DLC for the first time. In the base game they changed where enemies are and where items are. For example in SOTFS you can get a Grand Lance or a Great Lance in the Cardinal Tower, I forget which. The enemy placement in SOTFS is much more interesting than it was in the base game IMO.
They also added a load of petrified statues to block you and fragrant branches to open paths, which is weird.
So I figure it's about time I try out Dark Souls.
It's currently priced at 5€ on Steam. I was going to jump on it, but then I remembered all the horror stories about the PC port.
What mods should I install to fix it up? Is dsfix the only one I need? Is there anything else you guys reccomend?

DSFix is all you need to fix the framerate and resolution. If you're using kb&m rather than a controller you may want to get DSMFix, though I've never used it so I don't know if it's still needed or if it still works.
I would recommend using a controller if you have one.
Yeah, get DSFix since makes your life easier, you can play with 60 fps but remember it can provide some bugs like getting stuck on the bonfire if you restore humanity quickly or gravity getting heavier. Thankfully you can enable/disable the fps unlock using a bind. DSMfix if you plan using keyboard + mouse as mentioned. I use it and I can play fine without the need of a controller. Also get PvP Watchdog, isn't perfect but helps, it says how many connections you have and gives you sounds alert if someone connects and you alt+tab'd
Not a fan of like, half of the top tier runes STILL being locked in chalice dungeons.

I'm not a fan of the fact that the top tier runes make your weapons brittle as fuck, or drain your health constantly. On my NG+2 character I do almost 600 damage per hit but my weapon has the durability of wet toilet paper.
That and the, uh, ring equivalents all are stuck in chalice dungeons, want high tier damage resist? Hahhahahahahahahahahhahaahha.
I read a couple people complaining that ludwig was too hard and all that.
I thought "pffft, naw they just need to git gud"
Then ludwig killed me in two hits

Doesn't help I'm on ng+ either
Don't tell me anything more than this, if the answer is yes, I want go in completely blind:
Is the Bloodborne DLC worth it's price?

Ludwig is easy compared to later bosses like [sp]Orphan of Kos[/sp]. That shit was impossible, took me like 6-7 attempts.

Oh hell yeah. The DLC was way longer than I expected. I walked in thinking it was going to be just as short as the Artorias DLC from Dark Souls, but turned out to be way almost 3x as long.
Do I have to do anything special to summon for ludwig?
I have been sitting here for ages.
Also last fight the boss killed me in one hit when I was at near max health. What the fucking shit

6-7 attempts, lmao. I'm on like attempt #10+ with Ludwig and I still can't beat him. I've spent at least 3 hours with him.
it took me ages to summon but the guy who turned up was really strong, aparantly if you join the league you get a much better npc summon in the same area as henriet
i dont like having too many summons in bloodborne because the framerate tanks
Yeah so I sat here trying to summon for like 45 minutes.
Nothing
Am I doing something wrong?
Was able to snag the SotFS upgrade for $5 by selling some inventory items. Guess I'll be able to actually play with people now.

What level are you? Maybe you're just out of range with everyone.
I found [sp]Ludwig[/sp] actually way harder than [sp]Maria[/sp], but also I haven't reached the final boss of the DLC which is probably going to kick my ass.
It's a fun challenge for sure.

NG+ level 100
I managed to find a guy, we got the guy down to his second stage but we both ate shit soon after unfortunately

I can help if you'd like. Though I'm sure you've already found someone by the time you read this. :v:

Man I totally forgot about that charge up he does.
Fuck
Yeeahh when he thrusts his sword into the ground, you gotta' get the fuck out lol
Level 33 and I hopped into the nightmare to see what I could grab, made it out with the [sp]full old hunter set, beast cutter and boom hammer.[/sp] I'm happy to continue a bit in the normal game with this cool new shit, no idea how I survived that horrible place though (the first area is so insane)
pretty much done all the dlc content. what an amazing content expansion. loved every bit of it.
i'm curious what everyone thought of all the bosses and how many goes it took to kill them. for me:
1. (first go) [sp]ludwig - best boss theme. the transition between the two phases was my favourite moment in the dlc. very well designed and fun boss to fight and i'm glad the moonlight blade got such a cool introduction. i must have fluked him because a lot of people seemed to have a much tougher time.[/sp]
2. (4 goes) [sp]living failures - probably the least exciting boss of the dlc but a good change of pace from ludwig. has a really pretty stage and the meteor shower was cool. most of my deaths were from trying to understand how to dodge the meteors and underestimating the headbutts from the failures.[/sp]
3. (4-5 goes) [sp]lady maria - another incredible boss. everything about it was flawless. felt a lot like the gehrnam fight but still very different. loved how her moves became increasingly chaotic throughout the fight. also i didn't realise she is meant to be the doll until hours later, which makes the boss that much cooler.[/sp]
4. (6 goes) [sp]laurence - it's the cleric beast on fire that's hits harder. not the best designed boss but i can't complain when the dlc has so much content already. i already like the cleric fight so i enjoyed this one too. the second phase was a good twist.[/sp]
5. (18-20 goes *starts sweating*) [sp]orphan of kos - boy o boy what a good boss. i was worried i'd breeze through the bosses because my character was a pretty high level so i'm glad i had such a hard time with this one. the boss is extremely aggressive and attacks relentlessly so you really have to learn his attack pattern and know when to dodge.
easily the most difficult boss in the game and not in a bullshit way either. at first i thought his giant aoe was kinda dumb but then i realised it's not a complete ring (it has gaps in it), you can sometimes roll through it, or you can just run to the boss entrance. such a fun boss.[/sp]
Fuck me the true Holy Blade is one of the best weapons I've ever used.
