Dark Souls + Demon's Souls + Bloodborne Megathread VII. Now Only Embers Remain

I'm loving the Boom Hammer myself. Still haven't gotten to any bosses because the main areas are such an annoging slog though.
I feel like this expansion is gonna kick my ass after such a long break
Still amazed to this day how well Bloodborne pulls off the entire Lovecraftian theme.
It's so easy to fuck up the entire setting when going Lovecraftian, but bloodborne nails it.
I beat that bitch tentacle beard.
The fight took us down the stairs but right when I thought I was dead, the fucking dog down there attacked it and stunlocked which gave me time to to pop a vial and and finish him off.
Unfortunately, I got killed by the hunter with the beast claws. He's pretty tough.
Are there any more lamps in this level or are they all at boss arenas? I'm tired of fighting the same few hunters

The next lantern is near the first boss, when you run into tentacle beard with a cannon it'll be to the right when you run past him.

Oh it is, trust me. I haven't played in months and I got back into the DLC and I died a lot to normal mobs (granted most of them are weaker versions of hunters) but still. The first boss has me crying in a corner already.
I defeated the [sp]gatling gun npc at level 30 something, got his gatling gun[/sp] in the dlc
I'm a bit apprehensive whether or not to get into The Old Hunters on NG+. I had stopped playing Bloodborne altogether after beating the game with my character at a 90+ level.
Are the bosses in the DLC considerably tougher when playing on NG+? I also don't have PSN and play offline so I wonder if I can still collect Vermin from defeating bosses. I'd prefer to have the ability to summon Valtr if need be and not have to fight him.

Yes they are much tougher and I'd recommend playing them on NG+ the first time because I played through on NG first time and I didn't die to any of them.
I'm not a fan of the fact that the top tier runes make your weapons brittle as fuck, or drain your health constantly. On my NG+2 character I do almost 600 damage per hit but my weapon has the durability of wet toilet paper.
on my non ng+ character my weapon does over 600 in one hit but doesn't have any top tier runes and has immense durability? what is the point of those top tier runes?

I'm sure if you were in NG++ like Janus you wouldn't be dealing 600 damage in one hit anymore. And I think you guys are talking about bloodgems, not runes.

4. (6 goes) [sp]laurence - it's the cleric beast on fire that's hits harder. not the best designed boss but i can't complain when the dlc has so much content already. i already like the cleric fight so i enjoyed this one too. the second phase was a good twist.[/sp]
Do you happen to have any tips for this one? I'm on NG+3 and his second phase is ruining my entire life :v:
But can you respec?
But can you respec?
Nope.

Not unless it's extremely well hidden.

i saved my run of him so i can upload a video later, although i'm on ng so i doubt it's anywhere as hard as ng+3 :0
as far as i remember i abused projectiles a lot and dodged to his right side and towards him when he does his flurry and lava spew, then got a big hit in at the end of his animation.
Level 33 and I hopped into the nightmare to see what I could grab, made it out with the [sp]full old hunter set, beast cutter and boom hammer.[/sp] I'm happy to continue a bit in the normal game with this cool new shit, no idea how I survived that horrible place though (the first area is so insane)
if you open the shortcut its a short run to the whirlgig saw which is the most powerful and versatile strength weapon so far imo, even at +7 with worse gems its better than my +9 axe
Anyone wanna co-op Yahar'gul with me? I hate this area.

To give you an idea of the shit i've been dealing with, i just summoned a guy, he ran forward and immediately died to the dogs outside of the Chapel Lamp. Seriously, within 30 seconds.
God, Moonlight Greatsword is SO GOOD. Although every special attack in transformed mode consumes 1 bullet, it's totally worth it 'cuz every attack hits like a damn truck. With every boss I've tried it on so far, I could just spam the projectile and it deals ridiculous damage/ knockback. And if you're lucky, you can hit them with both the sword and the projectile and the damage is practically doubled.
What would be a better skill build for a moonlight greatsword character? I'm planning on making a new character today and building the character for it. Would it be better to focus on arcane over strength? Strength over arcane? Or do like a even split for the two? My knowledge on scaling in the souls games is not great.
Also any ideas on what gems would be the best to use on it?
Moonlight Greatsword is a strength/ arcane type weapon, so leveling up skill wouldn't do it any justice. At +10 it gets a B in strength and A in arcane. With that logic, I'd say you should level up arcane more over strength since it gets better scaling from that stat.

Yah I know putting points in skill won't do anything. I've just seen several conflicting posts saying that arcane weapons scale weird or something. I dunno. I will probably just focus on arcane for it I guess. Going more into arcane will also allow me to fuck around with the Parasite of Kos which could make for some interesting stuff.

the bloodborne mlgs is my favourite weapon in the entire souls series now
seriously so fun to use
Just killed [sp]Lady Maria[/sp] pretty effortlessly with the MLGS's special attacks. Holy shit.
So lemme explain...
R2 (strong attack), jump attack, and L2 all consume 1 bullet for their own special attack. R2 is the projectile attack which seems to only do pure arcane damage, but the damage can be doubled if hit by the sword too, basically adding physical damage to the hit.
The L2 is honestly my favorite, though. You basically create an explosion right infront of you and it does MASSIVE damage, as well as knockdown everyone infront of you in a big cone. It seems to be just as deadly as taking a cannon shot right in the face, and it still only consumes 1 bullet. Most bosses are dumb and just go straight after you, like [sp]Lady Maria[/sp]. Just L2 as she's running up to you and it'll knock her down to the floor while taking insane damage.
[editline]26th November 2015[/editline]
Really the only downside to the MLGS so far is that the normal mode is trash, it's basically a standard slow claymore moveset, easily punishable and predictable. Also the MLGS seems to eat stamina just as much as the Kirkhammer. And it looks like the projectile doesn't actually travel very far, so it's not like you can snipe people with it. But nevertheless the transformed mode is what really makes it shine.
Also, if you hit L1 after dodging/ rolling/ sidestepping while in transformed mode, you'll do a special overhead attack that acts as a smaller slightly weaker explosion attack that doesn't consume bullets at all.
Hopefully this will not turn all of our fine hunters into weabos
Just killed [sp]Laurence[/sp] with the MLGS. I couldn't actually cheese him as much since his attacks have such ridiculous range making it incredibly difficult to spam projectiles from afar, so I still had to mostly whack at him up close.
I will say, though, Blacksky Eye made the first phase of the boss WAY too easy. 2-3 laser shots to the face and it instantly staggers him for a visceral attack. Arcane builds are looking good now, guys. :v:

BEAST FORM CONFIRMED

HHNNGGGGHHH
im pretty disappointed theres 3 bosses in a row, i hope theres some more worldspace to explore after [sp]laurence[/sp] if not how did they ever plan to sell this as multiple dlc's? so far theres probably only been as much content as a single piece of the ds2 dlc's
I love this DLC because I already wanted to make a Strength/Arcane build, but the base game didn't really have much to offer in that respect, now it really seems like a fun way to play the game. I'm probably going to make a new character just for it.

The scum weapon held by a filthy subhuman
I am disgusted
I have to say though, the transformation effect looks remarkably good, I wonder if the look of the beast changes even slightly regarding your hunter's appearence
