Can someone enlighten me on the Dark Souls 2 deal?
I bought DX11 SoTFS for 15€.
Will my friend who owns the DX9 version and the Season Pass be able to upgrade to DX11 SoTFS at a discount, or does he have to buy the whole package again?
According to what my store says, he should be able to upgrade for $2. It's well worth it. The only unfortunate thing is that he won't be able to transfer his characters over, but if it makes a difference, some armor sets and weapons are significantly easier to get in SotFS than base. The new enemy placement is also different enough to significantly mix things up for a new run.
So short answer, no, your friend does not have to buy the entire package. Just the $2 upgrade.
So how viable do people consider Smoughs' Hammer as a weapon in DaS? Because a few friends and I have been hot-seating the game for the last few months periodically on weekends slowly (progress became much faster when the two guys who just weren't ready for the game weren't around mind) working out what the almighty shit to get our hilariously lopsided strength dude to wield and somehow ended up settling on that fucking thing.
And it's the most fun I've had in the game. Basically completed the game now after a lot of pain. One handing the bastard anvil-on-a-stick because fuck every other stat. Well, I say basically completed, we could go fuck Gwyn up any time we want, but instead we're currently fucking around in the DLC, smashing our heads into the brick wall that is any of the bosses (beat Artorias, fast one he is). Not remotely viable in PvP as we found out after being invaded on the way to Manus. Slow weapons and generally shitty networking? Oh boy!
And now I have DaS2: SotFS to ruinate my asshole with. Oh goody.
i don't really get why anyone likes sotfs. it's just more enemies copy and pasted everywhere in the dumbest most counter productive place. not to mention the weird mouse delay and smoothing it added that wasn't present in vanilla ds2. as well as literally just upping the saturation and calling it 'enhanced'.
Thusfar, all i have left of the first half of SotfS is Iron Keep and i don't really much care for it. Some areas are even easier or just plain barren, some areas are pure bullshit, none of the item placements make sense and the game genuinely does not look any better. All i can say is that i do enjoy the random Pursuer battles.
The only thing I like about SotFS is that I can get the Grand Lance super early now. :v:

SOTFS only sucks because it split the community down the middle. It should've been the initial release of DS2.
Let's hope DS3 doesn't fuck that up. Here's to a 60FPs version on PC without the reduced visual fidelity that happened to DS2.
Fat chance. I bet my bottom dollar the PC version will be locked to 30 FPS just like the consoles. Remember that DS2 was done by a different team with different intentions and I don't think Miyazaki cares enough to have the PC version get special treatment.

At least we can be sure of a DSfix for DS3, if that's the case. I'm playing in 60FPS either way.
Its pretty obvious DS3 will be 30fps.
If you force it to 60fps, you'll get free DLC 'Crown of the Sunken King'
Or if you absolutely dont want to get fucked over by these multiple edition of the same game, just wait for GOTY edition

Still worth the 2 bux.

I don't quite get what you mean.

Probably the forlorn armor.
SotFS is really bad compared to regular Dark Souls 2 tbh
I was wondering, which armor are we declaring the "John Darksouls The third" set? The burnt-ass red knight set on the cover, or the knight set looking one featured in 90% of all gameplay trailers?

I guess we'll see which one is more relevant to the game/story?
So far I say it's the burnt one.
Spent 30 minutes trying to invade the forest.
Hacking godmode SL 700 gankers everywhere. Killed a host and his red phantom buddy by forcing them off the cliff near the ladder down to the river, I've never seen so many souls in my life.
My PS4 arrives this evening! (hopefully) Gonna swing by a store on the way home and buy Bloodborne so I'm all set :v:

That's debatable. There are some areas that are genuinely better in SotFS while others are completely worse, like pre-Smelter Iron Keep.
For me it's an exaggeration saying Sotfs is worse than vanilla.
There are clearly big improvements that people would instantly say "This should have been in the base game" and various stuff, you get more diversity thanks to the Grand Lance (because seriously lance weapons not being available until late game was shit).
The forest of the Giants was one of the best improvements, it was all about being smart while it provided a good sense of how hollow the place became.
But that's just one of the areas that i mostly enjoyed, some like Iron Keep are blatantly and will remain stupid.
(Of course i'm not saying sotfs is perfect or some giant improvement but it does its own good)

Make sure you buy the old hunter edition.
Because fuck downloading 9gb DLC
I just had a dream where I was playing Dark Souls but it had elements from Diablo II.
Now I'm thinking how badass that would be
I completely stopped playing Bloodborne several months ago when I got to [sp]Amelia[/sp]. Should I get back into it?
yeah amelia is barely any progress at all

Just go and beat hemwick charnel lane before amelia. Your cahracter should be stronger by then to beat amelia

I mean, that's essentially Lords of the Fallen and we saw how that went. I only got like an hour into that before quitting.
People need to stop dying to [sp]The Orphan of Kos.[/sp] Out of ten co-op sessions, only four of them got to the second phase before getting killed. The rest either get too greedy with hits, have the boss chase them around the shore, or have the boss get me while the summoner takes too long to find an opening. I just need one insight and all the sessions will teach me on how to avoid his attacks.

You literally stopped before the game starts to get crazy.
Getting the Rakuyo is gonna be tricky...
