Sure wish I had 500 bucks
I'm still excessively salty about Sony deadlocking From to producing more exclusives just after they had opened up. Sad as fuck for PC only bros such as myself
Tis the season for fresh invasions!
I went to darkroot garden, posing as one of the ring of fog knights and it was actually an effective way of fooling invaders

I did this atleast 17 times and sometimes repeat invaders forgot I was disguised as that guy

1 advice ;
No matter how the situation looks like, even though it looks like it's better to be defensive, don't be fooled. Offensive/agressive is the only way
im so used to the slow, methodical combat style of dark souls
it feels great to just be going ham all the time but it takes some getting used to after 600 hours in dark souls 1

After 100 or so hours i still have issues. Another word of advice, take advantage of a weapons full moveset. Sometimes a weapons transform attacks stagger more, or certain combos do more damage, or weapons like the Saif are extremely agile and have dashes in their move sets, take advantage of all of those things and you'll find both PvP and PvE easier.

ive been trying but father gascoin has been giving me the holy dick for a solid hour now, gonna take a breather and get back to practicing in a bit
Hit me up if you want some assistance, Gascoigne is probably my favorite boss. Take advantage of the gravestones in his first two phases and his long combos in the second for some visceral.
ill add you when i get back on, i believe my family has started using the TV for christmas shit

Reminds me of my hiding in plain sight series of invasions. I would wear the ring of fog and just stand in dark, but easily spotted places. 9 out of 10 times, the invader would just walk by me and not even notice. I miss the ring of fog.
dark souls 3 should be good, reviews and gameplay looks nice.
God someone fuckin' carry me through Byrgenwerth through Mensis. I've had two people just straight up die to the Choir Hunter before Rom, immediately. Like first hit death immediately. Ugh.

Honestly I really hope it wounds up being more similiar to Dark Souls 1 than 2
Dark Souls 2 feels as if From made two steps forward and three backwards
Dark Souls with some of the flat-out improvements from Dark Souls 2 (Backstabbing, Powerstancing even though it won't be in DS3) would be just perfect
Playing DS1 and enjoying so far despite being stuck on those bastard gargoyles.
What are the main differences between 1 and 2?
dark souls 2 handles better, dark souls 1 has better design/story/lore/characters
In DS2 they replaced your character's bones with solid metal so you have to upgrade your endurance a shitton unless you like rolling about half a meter
Also they coded the air to be 10 times thicker so performing any action feels like trying to cut through bamboo with a butter knife
I'm just talking shit. Seriously though after playing zippy Bloodborne, DS2 feels fucking terrible even at twice the FPS

Okay compared to DS1 it has its pros and cons. in DS1 you can only roll in the four cardinal directions, while in DS2 you have 360 freedom for rolling. However you can't roll and then turn around and attack, you have to stop for a second for some unfathomable reason to let your character actually turn around. DS1 feels much more snappy and tight, while DS2 feels buttery and slow
I will concede that the general connectivity and PVP are much better in DS2 for other reasons
also i would argue that some of dark souls 2s bosses are better, but not all
I honestly don't feel like almost any DS2 boss outshines any DS1. Don't get me wrong, DS1 had shitty bosses but most of DS2s were just disappointing. Mirror Knight could have been so much better. Demon of Song too. Only boss i can honestly way i thoroughly enjoyed fighting was Darklurker.
Dark Souls 2 controls like ass compared to Dark Souls. You take weird baby steps in Dark Souls 2 and the rolling is ass, the animations for rolling are terrible and the adaptability stat is a pain. People say it's better because you can roll in any direction but the rolling is so slow and rigid that it hardly matters, Bloodborne did omni-directional rolling properly.
Half the movement in Dark Souls 2 tries to be like Dark Souls but they tried to make it too heavy, and the other half is clearly influenced from the development of Bloodborne but is much more floaty. Like everything else in Dark Souls 2 you can tell it was a project that had to be saved and is nothing like what it was supposed to be.
Not that Dark Souls 2 is bad, it's just good where the other games are great. In my opinion, of course.
Bathtub I'm down for some Co-op when I get back from a trip, anytime you need help shoot me a message.
If you need advice on Father Genome I use the toy box as soon as he transforms then pelt him with molotovs

DS2 was my first ever beaten Souls game, currently doing DS1 but I honestly feel a lot more enjoyment with DS1, everything feels sorta like an actual place, and everything is connected. DS2 kinda just feel like levels with hallways in between, it feels so disconnected.
I liked the Persuer, but honestly I barely remember a lot of the bosses in DS2, the story was very, boring? It was decent I'm not saying it was bad it just felt very bland. I just remember playing for the armor and that's about it.
The few bosses I've seen from Dark Souls 2 are basically huge guys with a different armor, barring some exceptions
[editline]Today[/editline]
By the way, my friend hasn't asked me Bloodborne for rent yet
Maybe he forgot about that
... YES!

I think they overdid it way too much in 2, bloodborne had a perfect mix of huge fucking monsters to fight and then bosses on the same scale as you, I love fighting the human bosses in souls games, they feel the most fun without spamming parries.
I hope we get some more Demon's Souls uniqueness
Because i don't think i'll ever seen a big human boss better than Old Hero.
Being blind and yet one of the hardest to face head on without using any ring or spells to mask your footsteps, that felt absolutely good.
At least i don't need to worry about Dark Souls 3 controls and gameplay, that's a given.
Well i can officially say that Earthen Peak in SotfS is so far the single most bullshit area i've encountered in a Souls game so far.
Anyway, we should have a BB co-op christmas party somehow

That's exactly it. Dark Souls 2 is a good game, but Dark Souls 1 was great. Demon's Souls was great. Bloodborne is great from the whole 30 minutes I've played of it. You can not look someone dead in the eye and say "ds2 is bad", but you can say "DS1 was better."
If DS2 had more time, I'm sure it would've turned out great. But then again, if DS1 would've had more time, it would've been game of the decade.
I'm down to help anybody with anything in BB, super bored.

I've come to realize that a big failing of BBs is NG+. There's no real point to it, it doesn't seem to add anything a la Souls and everything stays at the same level, so it's not like you can just move up to NG+ for better gems and materials, you HAVE to farm Chalices.

I caught onto this pretty quick, it's especially apparent given that there's no shields at all. You can't tank whatsoever, and with the regaining lost health when you attack mechanic, retaliation is really your only viable option.

Exactly!
One of the first things I noticed is how Dark Souls 2 has variable walk speeds, something that was missing in Dark Souls 1 (you either walked, jogged or ran)
In practice, it makes adjusting your character's direction extremely difficult, making it feel even more cumbersome than it already is
People praise DS2 for roll variety but I still fail to see their point. There's only two roll animations that can have varying distances and iframes, with no way to let you discern either.
I'm realizing that what I believe the good things of DS2 are, are just expansions and fixes of DS1 systems - for instance, being able to 2hand your left hand weapon, reversing hollowing any time, removal of Humanity as a stat, serious punishment for death (although 50% for hollowing is a bit too much)
