Dark Souls + Demon's Souls + Bloodborne Megathread VII. Now Only Embers Remain

i think its because the more youve become used to BBs playstyle, the easier it is for him because of how hyperagressive he is
im still used to bosses being like a dance but i just need to go apeshit and be more proactive
Am i wacko if i actually like defiled Amygdala and defiled Hotdog??
restarted my bloodborne playthrough after experimenting for 8 hours, still managing to get absolutely fucked by gascoine
jesus christ man for a second boss he is difficult
This is one of those instances where I'd like to quote TV Tropes directly
Like its older brothers, Bloodborne doesn't pull punches: the first mandatory boss is Father Gascoigne, a crazed Hunter that thinks everyone's either a beast or slowly becoming one. He's either your first boss fight or your second, if you took the detour to kill the Cleric Beast earlier. Which is HIGHLY recommended not only because you need to at least see a boss to start leveling up, but the experience will be invaluable: Gascoigne is a monster of a man that hits like a truck, is faster than you and has three phases, each one harder than the last. The only way to survive the fight (apart from cheesing) is to have a good handle on the parry and visceral attack mechanics, something quite unlikely at that point. Fortunately, he has an extra weak point a tiny, unassuming, very easily missable music box that stuns him on use. Only thing is, it will make him skip to phase three after two uses, and after the third it will stop working completely.
[editline]Today[/editline]
I'd also like to add that the jump in difficulty between the Cleric "Punching ball" Beast and "Father GascOHNOE" is ludricrous
Gascoigne is the point where the game grabs you and says "You thought you were playing Dark Souls? You're thinking too slowly."
Should I wait pre ordering DS3?
I think you should. I preordered soley because of the statue. When I preordered DS2 and saw how much stuff they cut out and how they downgraded everything I was so disappointed in the end, even if I liked the game but I knew it could have been so much more and I swore to never preorder a From game again. But I'm a sucker for statues sooo...
I lost 94k Echos in the Forbidden Wood. I first died coming out of the first snake dude's clubhouse, getting in a fight with some beast man guy on the balcony and I rolled back into just small enough hole to fall to my death.
I was so pissed that I ran across the bridge from the lamp, went berserk on rifle cunt and axe nerd and accidentally stepped in front of the log trap.
Christ, they sure are stingy with the checkpoints here, too.
Except you can easily farm bullets like it's nothing.
I'm in constant overstock in terms of vials and bullets.
And i think you're misunderstanding the spam term. Gun spam parry is a thing.
Pretty much in every souls game you have an infinite source of consumables/ammo tho? I didn't even bring that up, I'm saying you can only carry 20 at a time on your person, more of you use shitty runes and gimp yourself/injure urself which can only go on for so long. Do people actually have a problem with guns in pvp? You cant contest that spamming parrying is easier to spam in souls game cause you use your weapon and not a gun?

Get used to that lamp, it'll be your best friend by the end of it.
Anyone wanna fight the Forgotten "Augur has made this fight almost bullshit hard" Madman and his Escort?
Look what just came in the mail today. :v:

I have not played the game but don't you get literally infinite bullets from trading health, which in turn can be regained with the little regain mechanic?
Even in Dark Souls you still had to go back and buy the firebombs, you couldn't like make some out of nowhere.
Even THEN, dude, this isn't just parrying, this has:
long range
deals damage ( homewer slight )
staggers
You can't tell me with a straight face that is the same as just parrying in DS. For requiring an ammo counter it isn't limited at all.

That's why you buy merch that doesn't look embarrassing to wear in public. :v:

Guns can parry people and on a bloodtinge build can 2-3 shot people too. A weapon that has at least 20 uses that can both parry and do plenty of damage FROM A DISTANCE seems a bit better than a little scimitar that you spin around all day. Not to mention you can parry healing with guns, parry weapon transforming, etc... Slap on bone marrow ash and suddenly that 2-3 shot becomes 1 shot. You can even use bone marrow ash on a gun, just the fact that it is applied to your weapon is a big psychological threat and puts pressure on your opponent if they notice it.

Bullets actually don't go far at all, the damage they deal even with a full upgraded gun is paltry, only a couple of guns stagger and they're very slow, and the regain mechanic can not be used as a reliable source of infinite bullets.
Not to mention bullets are piss easy to dodge most times and ones like Ludwig's or Piercing leave you open.

I was thinking they look more like, well, you know. It relates to one of the endings.

Turn on the PS4, connect the controller to your PC via a cable, launch Dark Souls and Bloodborne, play both at the same time. See how long it takes you to die in each.

Tell that to the Evelyn, even if it's about specific builds, it's tiresome constantly dodging bullets. Gun builds ends up being dumb most of the time.
So I have hundreds of hours in souls games across the board (the least in DaS2) and today I decided to force myself to play SotFS and managed to get stunlocked and die to a halberd soldier group despite being in the middle of a roll. My experience from all other souls games and Bloodborne fell away as the steam achievement notification popped up, "welcome to dark souls". Suddenly, visions of the shrine of Amana, infinite stamina drakekeepers, the bullshit NPC invaders and all the other shit DS2 throws at you later in the game flashed in front of my eyes, along with all the comments of people saying the groups of enemies are even more bullshit in scholar. How people can find this game fun I don't know
Yeah, probably never playing it again. Such a shame the game's design is intrinsically flawed, there's so much content along with the DLCs, and I get sentimental thinking back to the first time I played, but thank fuck they're building on the gameplay from BB and DS1 for DS3. It can't come soon enough

Agreed, i had a lot of bullshit deaths but the point where i finally just uninstalled it was Earthen Peak and the randomly appearing Mannequins out of literally nowhere and Windmill bonfire having a Gravewarden and two Mannequins spamming throwing knives and wombo combos immediately outside of it and you have to draw them all and it's not like you can retreat up the stairs or you'll have even more Mannequins.
Didn't even bother making it to Mytha. Also equip load and rolling seemed even more weird in it for some reason.
Got Bloodborne (and a PS4 so I could play it) for christmas, and damn, I knew it was worth it.
All the things I thought were just gimmicks when I first heard of the game (trick weapons, guns, the side-step thing, even the whole "blood" stuff) are actually incredibly well done and are enough to, in my opinion, separate Bloodborne from Dark Souls so it becomes its own thing rather than just a re-skinned Dark Souls. I especially like the trick weapon mechanic, having a smaller number of weapons that are much more distinct from eachother is great. This is a pretty welcome change from DS2 where there were a heap of weapons but many of them were incredibly similar. Most categories basically had: Standard weapon A with average scaling, standard weapon B with average scaling, the good one that you'll use, the niche one, the joke one. In Bloodborne, it seems all the weapons are more or less viable, though some more than others. I'm particularly fond of the Whirligig Saw.
Really, the only gripes I have come from it being a PS4 title. Having to pay, even if it really isn't a huge amount in the end, to able to play online is incredibly lame, and there have been several occasions that I've had FPS drops, which thankfully don't usually come in the middle of fights, most of the time, they're when a big boss dies and explodes at the end.
Guys, seeing these different opinions on SotFS I'm wondering: considering the current Steam sale - should I just go with SotFS or fuck the DLCs and go with the base game? I've only played DaS 1 and really, really liked it (only exception being Smough and Ornstein, fuck them).
Considering the DLC is the best part of DS2 I would recommend you get whatever version comes with the DLC, SotFS or not.
DLC is not affected by any version.
It's still funny how i don't view sotfs as something of that caliber but it's understandable
