The project will probably be cancelled the MOMENT Kojima steps foot outside of the Konami offices for the last time.

I guarantee the project will speed up with Kojima out of the picture, and Konami and Sony are probably going to shit it out and try to turn it into a multi-million dollar movie franchise.
And by god, I hope they fail miserably.

If that movie gets released, I'm gonna do some Light Up the Night bullshit and plant explosives on the top of Konami headquarters.

Konami owns the IP so not likely.

Please no.
The most likely shit new series will be enough.

Yeah but wasnt he the main reason it was happening to begin with?

He helped orchestrate it but he doesn't own the rights so at the end of the day it's Konami's call.
Why the fuck are they making a movie again?
Because the last 4 were pretty good.
Just did the first mission in Peace Walker's chapter one. I'm getting flashbacks to MGSV (as one should), and I'm definitely getting a Monster Hunter vibe in the way it does areas (as in, have a bunch of small sections connected by one large map). Messed up in the final area with 5 guards patrolling an area, but CQC took all 5 of them down quick. The storybook parts are pretty interesting, though it's strange to be thrown into a "combat" section inbetween. (Which seems to have little consequences, unless Chico isn't taken away if you hit them all correctly)
The biggest worry I have is the multiplayer aspect- clearly it was built with it in mind, but I'm afraid that there'll be some missions in the future that're impossible to do solo. Has anyone experienced this, or am I overreacting?
I just started playing through today too, doesn't seem like there are any parts thus far in chapter one that require a 2nd player, so long as you have a cardboard box to give you a boost. However the boss fights can get a bit tedious alone...
I'm not saying it's a bad thing that there's all sorts of gadgets and whatnot. It's just that the later games have been emphasizing combat a little too much, and giving you a ridiculous amount of guns and ammunition. Seriously, did we really need 15 handguns in MGS4?
It literally doesn't matter since they're optional I don't understand the issue.

Don't worry, they only get five thousand times more tedious as you get further into the game.
Some of the end game and especially post end game bosses will take literally like an hour to beat on your own, and there's a lot of items that can only be used in co op, but the game is entirely beatable alone.

If you farm high level R&D guys for a little while, enough to upgrade your weapons of choice, then the later bosses are much, much easier.

Honestly says something about how good MGS4 is when you only really can complain about the ABUNDANCE of content for virtually no reason other than "it's too much!"
Kojima should've been the one to write the movie
There should not be a movie at all if its purpose is to cash in.

this is why they need to kill those ubisoft movies
only i actually have some hope because they have tom hardy and michael fassbender.

Well, you can also complain about the lazy writing, the ridiculous amount of plotholes, the bad acting, the shit pacing, all of Act 3, and the altogether half-assed attempt to tie up the series.
Whats the point of having an MGS movie when all MGS games are movies in a way
Mgs 4 has like 12 hours of cutscenes
They want a movie, not 6

MGS4 is like a Stephen King miniseries.

[sp]If we're going to do this, I might as well go all the way.[/sp]
I really hope that mother base staff can be handled like they are in PW, cause it's really neat being able to play as your combat staff on side ops, and rank them up to be better. Also fingers crossed for co-op like PW... But we haven't seen much that would suggest that it will.

Turn off the game console, now.
You'll hurt your eyes playing so close to the TV.
What scares me about MGS5 ultimately is how much we know, and simultaneously so little. The same base gameplay from GZ, but greatly improved and expanded upon with the open world concept fully realized. Adaptive enemy patrols and equipment to counter your playstyle so you switch things up. A somewhat-customizable Mother Base, repaintable and so forth but we don't know how in-depth, possibility of formulating guard patrols and placing security systems manually. Numerous Peace Walker mechanics brought over and expanded upon, like the Fulton, the GMP and research, the individual staff and their ranks. At least two or three entire areas. And we also know the basics of Metal Gear Online.
But the story, the characters beyond the 'staff lists' in trailers, just how much content is there, the depths of said content, and so forth and so forth - all of it's still a mystery. Interviews here and there let out tidbits, but only just enough to tantalize one into wanting to know more. I mean, no game, especially MGS, should blow their load before release obviously, but for how much is being promised we only know so much. Which intimidates me because I trust the gameplay but I don't know what else to expect.

And considering it's Metal Gear, along with probably the last Kojima game and the last Solid game in the series, anything could happen.
Actually they didn't really expand or improve on anything.
From what I remember and based on what was found during that model switching craze, they literally ripped the ground zeroes segment out of MGS 5 and kind of broke a lot of stuff with it.
A lot of what's in GZ is basically only working at half capacity or just missing altogether.
[editline]31st March 2015[/editline]
I'm talking about the AI specifically but people found references to Motherbase mechanics and other locales and items that don't make an appearance, etc..
Well I know that, i'm speaking from technical terms. Since Ground Zeroes was originally intended as being a part of The Phantom Pain, most theorized that Konami forced GZ to be released in 2014, so Kojima had to rip it right out. Which is why I hope modders are able to implement GZ into TPP so we can replay those missions with the full set of abilities and content.
Turn off the game console, now.
Fun fact: That line is supposed to be a reference to Metal Gear 1. Towards the end of the game Big Boss calls you up on the codec and tell you to turn of your MSX2.

Or maybe that's what Kojima was talking about when he meant something else will happen when you own both Ground Zeroes and Phantom Pain. Revisit the old missions with the updated content (maybe exclusive items in the old missions?).
I like the UFO line the most
was it a reference to something too?
