Eyewitness report of a famous UFO story, can't remember which
I like the UFO line the most was it a reference to something too?
The Patriots were aliens that kidnapped Campbell.
Alright, I've whittled away all the extra ops past Peace Walker's first ending except for the battles, which I've found that I'm WAY underequipped for. Not enough Fulton balloons to do them 'non-lethal', and barely enough firepower to blast through with a shitty rank and chance of no mech capture. Don't even get me started on the stage 2 AI battles, especially [sp]Peace Walker[/sp]. Fought with it for literally half an hour and ended up failing anyway. So are there any US PS3 players who wanna help me out with co-op? I can't take it anymore. I'll be available to play later tonight past 11pm EST. Add me on Steam.
I rescued Baker and Anderson, they're totally not dead. [t]http://cloud-4.steamusercontent.com/ugc/45374916602942538/C980F4A488FAA3257D76DDE2ED92186E9E91A889/[/t]
The Patriots were aliens that kidnapped Campbell.
[sp]I got a trophy in MGS4 for finding some crop circle and that message played. I was seriously confused because I stumbled on it while following Naomi (You're following her right?)[/sp]
And considering it's Metal Gear, along with probably the last Kojima game and the last Solid game in the series, anything could happen.
All multiplayer matches are canon, Big Boss finds a Koppelthorn Engine.
External Gazer is canon
I kinda wish we got to see more of the Metal Gear Solid world post-Big Shell, I was really liking the focus on advanced technology and the like. MGS4 really satisfied my tech fix but being in the war-torn third-world for most of it sorta made it less prevalent. Just imagine the boss fights? Maybe an anti-tech group that use EMPs that literally disconnect your controller? Just think about it - hypothetically - what would a game that bridged the gap between Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Solid 4 really feature?
Well I beat MGS2. I'd heard going in that the story was hard to follow but I dunno, I never had any problems. Only thing I don't get is that [sp]after all that, the Patriots just let Raiden and Rose go? They both know a lot. Also what motivation does Liquid (if it really is him and not just Ocelot playing everyone) have for wanting the Patriots gone?[/sp] [editline]1st April 2015[/editline] okay I just heard the post credits thing with Otacon, how [sp]is one of the twelve men a top contributor to Snake and Otacon if he's been dead for 100 years?[/sp]
[sp]Also what motivation does Liquid (if it really is him and not just Ocelot playing everyone) have for wanting the Patriots gone?[/sp]
[sp]Because he wanted to free soldiers that were under the Patriots' control or something like that.[/sp]

My guess is they figured that after playing them like a fiddle, Raiden probably couldn't do much of note on his own in the long-term so they just let the pawn loose.[/sp] MGS4 answers both of your other questions in the long-term. If you want spoilers for that game: Liquid [sp]is Ocelot playing everyone, and he wants to eliminate the Patriots due to what they did to Big Boss after Solid Snake 'killed' him twice, recover Big Boss, and turn the whole world into an Outer Heaven.[/sp] The contributor [sp]was the Patriots, as a series of AIs, manipulating Snake and everyone else into their positions. They just didn't count on Solid Snake actually infiltrating the Big Shell and causing their plans to be disrupted, but it still went off without a hitch otherwise. The 'dead identity' is a dummy set of names the Patriots use to cover themselves incase anyone tries to hunt them down. Which means Solidus' plan that the entire game was based around - getting the names of the Patriots - would've been for absolutely nothing.[/sp]
Just think about it - hypothetically - what would a game that bridged the gap between Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Solid 4 really feature?
I guess it would work as a coop game since the newer Metal Gear games lean towards those. Seeing SOP in use would be interesting, MGO and that one scene with Rat Patrol only really gave glimpse of its possibilities. And since it supposedly allows you to transplant rote, you could create all kinds of funky abominations like having the game record your tactics and have a squad of perfectly synchronised bunny hopping child soldiers liberate oil reserves in a bush war somewhere. What better way to intentionally desensitize players to npcs than make them act like robots on purpose and then slap them in the face Sorrow style.
okay I kind of figured [sp]it had to be an AI all along, but the amount of planning and setup that went into the Big Shell alone would have needed human involvement. The idea that an AI set all this up, had all these people working on this stuff and managed to keep it all quiet is crazy.[/sp]
yeah I'm playing in release order so I've only played MGS1 and 2 I have also played GZ so I do know some details about Big Boss' story too

They spell it out themselves right before the final boss, the entire Big Shell was nothing more than an experiment to see if their control over the flow of information and on a person in extreme situations can manipulate their rationality, their reasoning and actions to a goal they prefer. Raiden was a success, and thus proved to the AIs that they could manipulate humanity as they so please with the right informational context and control, thus putting humanity under their virtual thumb in a way that only so many know anything about them.[/sp]

People do notice, the Presidents did. And if something has complete government control in a state where pretty much any and every position of political power is just a pawn beneath them, that just sort of means no one can do a damn thing about it without getting flushed out the moment they try towards an indeterminate target.
What difficulty did you finish on? :v:
Normal at first. But I changed to hard after Fatman when I remembered you could start from the plant.
I really miss Kojima's tweets.
