I like to counter that with BEES on the level of ludicrous.
I think the concept's a lot better on paper, when you put it like that. In the game I think she's just plain irksome, I've never really liked her or laughed at the whole situation.
I didn't mind her when I was younger and played the game.
nowadays.. Hell, just the other day, I sighed loud enough for the whole house to hear when she did her routine call...
I just skip every call from Rose, it doesn't matter what game

You're also not missing out on any story.
Rose just adds a level of absurdity to the game. Like why in the fuck did the [sp]patriots think this was a good idea? Why did it even work?[/sp]

[sp]Maybe to distract Raiden? To see if he can stay focused on the mission even with the girlfriend constantly asking what day is it tomorrow.[/sp]

Probably to both create stress and make Raiden feel inefficient, probably remind him that he's not a super-soldier. In a way, she can be construed as the Meryl of the operation, except not on-field obviously, as a 'reason' for him to go on. [sp]In a meta-sense, to make the player feel like a loser.[/sp]

Except it only makes Raiden seem like a loser.
Which is pretty accurate since he is.

raiden is a construct for kojima to tell the wannabe heroes playing mgs that they are losers
Well, to commemorate the day listen to this song:

And in story related connections, its to show that anyone, given the time, place and means to work, could be shaped into Solid Snake.
...right?

I know. I also don't give a fuck.
I keep thinking that this is all a dream... that I'll wake up...
You bring up a good point about the characters in Metal Gear. Despite being crazy overpowered (masters of combat, incredible prowess with technology, super powers, ect), all of these characters have flaws to balance themselves out. Solid Snake has a mid-life identity crisis, Otacon has a fucked up family history, Raiden goes through an identity crisis similar to Solid Snake (but with a very VERY different outcome), Liquid Snake is compelled by what he calls his "genetic fate", Ocelot constantly makes mistakes despite being perhaps the most calculating characters in the series.
There are a million things that contribute to why Metal Gear is so unique and special to so many people, but without those character flaws found in every single character (even the goofiest ones like The Pain and Fat Man), these games might have fallen into the sea of lame military action games that flooded the market (and still do).

This isn't a new revelation or anything. It's just fun to look back and realize how well thought out the characters of Metal Gear are. I'm sure most of them were written around their respective gimmicks, but if anything that's something to commend Kojima and the writers for. Making what would be a typically gimmicky character into an interesting, developed and even tragic character (Psycho Mantis and Sniper Wolf in particular) and make it all compelling is an incredible feat.
That being said though, the Cobras left much to be desire, but again. I'm not saying anything that hasn't already been said.
To be honest, I love how much of a confusing mess the plot is for Metal Gear. When you meet someone who also knows it, there is an instant bonding, an understanding, that you have together. It's got a special kind of soul that I have yet to find anywhere else.
If someone took all the story lines of Metal Gear and re-wrote it so that it was all one nice smooth story that was perfectly consistent form beginning to end, it just wouldn't have that same kind of spark that it does now. Characters would be changed to better fit their overall arch, and that would change the tone and mood of a lot of scenes.
It's strange because each game exists in a vacuum in a lot of ways, but they are each very dependent on their predecessors. That's why Phantom Pain is so exciting, it's the summation of all the past metal gears because of it's position in the timeline. We are probably going to see ideas and references to all the games so far in TPP.
Yea screw it.
Comes the first of september, if I don't have a PS4, I'll just buy it on PS3.
I just have to play it on THE day.
I'll wait for the PC version unless I know my computer won't be able to handle it (I can handle GZ mostly fine on medium settings, but if TPP is more intensive due to more detail, larger environments and more time to work on it, then that's a problem). If my PC can't handle it, i'll buy it PS4. But I also gotta keep an ear out for opinions and avoid the spoilers.
This is gonna be a hellish September.

And hopefully it'll be well executed, not like MGS4's "HEY GUYS, REMEMBER THIS? OH MAN I TOTALLY REMEMBER THIS HAPPENED IN PAST GAMES!"

I hope a special edition falls out of the sky or some shit, probably more likely than getting restocked on Amazon.

TPP shouldn't be that more intensive. GZ is still packed with detail, lots of signs, fences, flora, and cargo hanging around everywhere. They might have also done a lot of optimizations between GZ and TPP.
Am I going to get an explanation as to why every member of the cobra unit explodes when I kill them? :v:
Am I going to get an explanation as to why every member of the cobra unit explodes when I kill them? :v:
J(estster)C, it's a (micro)bomb.
Am I going to get an explanation as to why every member of the cobra unit explodes when I kill them? :v:
They each have bombs implanted on their bodies that explode when they die so that the enemy cannot fuck with their bodies. I think.
They got the bombs back in WWII and just never bothered to get rid of them.
Don't forget about the vampire, the bullet impervious lady, the fat bomber that drinks wine through a silly straw and 26 giant robots inside a giant warship.

Hey that last one isn't fair. Kojima u cheeky lil' cunt.
Maybe Silent Hills has a chance still but under a different name.
Lets hope thats true.
Why are those kinds of...ghosts?, so goddamn frightening to me? Gives me the chills just looking at that screenie in the link with the 2 meter high black eyed ghost lady.

Actually after thinking about this for a while it seems likely considering that in the game the context for this makes no sense, but if you apply Kojima's situation to it, it almost makes perfect sense.

Not to mention, in Super Bunnyhop's video he brings up a rumor from supposedly one guy working at Konami, which is that Konami was mad at Kojima for making P.T behind their back, and because of how expensive the budgets he likes.
So if that is true, then the line makes perfect sense since Kojima would have knew Konami would be pissed and possibly fire him due to it.
I still wouldn't get my hopes up if I were you. If Kojima is going to start up another company it's going to take a long time before they'll be able to push out a game.
Honestly, if Kojima were to make his own spiritual successor to Metal Gear like everyone seems to be doing nowadays? I'd want to see him start fresh and see how he can innovate or refresh things ala the first two Metal Gears or even some Ghost Babel inspiration. If he continues what he does best, there's no way we'd see him jumping straight back up to MGS2/3 and so forth.
