ahh come on man david hayter doing a gravelly speech about the rise of outer heaven got my snake solid
I'm with you as one of the few Metal Gear fans who doesn't like Peace Walker terribly much but the ending is cool
the [sp]ghost of the boss takes over the ai and drowns itself while singing[/sp]
literally the dumbest thing to happen in the whole series AND it came real close to just ruining the Boss all around
the whole plot is a disgusting and pointless rehash that adds nothing new thematically or otherwise, as you would expect from a psp spinoff. which it will always be no matter what people say.

yep. the boss already had a wonderful ending in mgs3. then this game comes and shits all over it 'shes a computer now u have to lose her for a second time lol' get fucked.
Oh you're not wrong at all. The fucking MUH BOSS retread of the story is a waste of character development. Story wise PW is the worst, no doubt. "Hot coldman?" "Pacifica Ocean" etc etc the writing is bad but the final cutscene is cool at least, and co-ops were fun as fuck
I'm glad that the gameplay of Peace Walker is being adapted but I hope the stories better. I also secretly hopea s fun as Co-Ops were it won't be in so I don't have to worry about grindfest bosses
I like PW, but just as a side story. Hopefully all the Boss stuff won't be referenced in TPP.

just you wait until after TPP and konami decides to do a game about the Boss

Well it's not actually her ghost. The Mammal AI pod was destroyed so The Boss AI took over the Reptile pod and judged that destroying itself was the humane thing to do. The events leading up to that moment were pretty great though, you can't not enjoy Big Boss calling up The Pentagon.

The singing was weird tho...

except it's not really a rehash because you don't really get to the boss' personal motives at all in mgs3. the narrative in that story is that she did it for country. which is a narrative that's constructed by the state, not by her.

i disagree though. not only are there far dumber things that have happened in MGS, the Boss' AI [sp]drowning itself was pretty moving - it showed something cold, hard, and distant showing a moment of clarity, self awareness, and compassion, resulting in drowning itself. that tied together with the Boss' AI actually doing it, whilst singing showed (per the game) the beauty out of battle, which is a subject that's not really tackled. That's something distinct from the rest of the series - Gray Fox, Solid Snake, Naked Snake, all have had substantial monologues and discussions regarding the thrill they experience on the battlefield, and how it's the only place they feel alive. What the ending of Peace Walker does is show that all those seeking to emulate the boss have failed.[/sp]
while my favorite character in the series is revolver ocelot, the boss comes in at a fairly close second. much of that is thanks to peace walker, which directly tackles her psyche and the relationship between her and naked snake, and her as an individual.

to understand why i feel that [sp]peace walker drowning itself[/sp] is moving, it's helpful to have an understanding of the systems that were in place throughout the cold war as far as nuclear retaliation is concerned. failsafe systems on failsafe systems were designed to prevent both accidental discharge as well as ensuring an intentional one. this is parodied and satirized heavily in Dr. Strangelove, and shows what goes wrong when you take the human element out of things - the boss' ai effectively took a failsafe, foolproof machine that's cold and calculating and added the human element back into it
Let's just agree that the whole of PW was a more japanese kind of game...

Well, ya. MGS is a Japanese kind of series.
Well, ya. MGS is a Japanese kind of series.
Not exactly...
Well, it is, but it usually doesn't mixes in typical japanese humor and cutesy stuff you'd see in like dozens of animes.
In November 1925, Celestino Madeiros, an ex-convict awaiting trial for murder, confessed to committing the Braintree crimes. He absolved Sacco and Vanzetti of participation.[89] In May, once the SJC had denied their appeal and Madeiros was convicted, the defense investigated the details of Madeiros' story. Police interviews led them to the Morelli gang based in Providence, Rhode Island. They developed an alternative theory of the crime based on the gang’s history of shoe-factory robberies, connections to a car like that used in Braintree, and other details. Gang leader Joe Morelli bore a striking resemblance to Sacco.[90][91][92]
The defense filed a motion for a new trial based on the Madeiros confession on May 26, 1926.[84] In support of their motion they included 64 affidavits. The prosecution countered with 26 affidavits.[93] When Thayer heard arguments from September 13 to 17, 1926,[84] the defense, along with their Madeiros-Morelli theory of the crime, charged that the U.S. Justice Department was aiding the prosecution by withholding information obtained in its own investigation of the case. Attorney William Thompson made an explicitly political attack: "A government which has come to value its own secrets more than it does the lives of its citizens has become a tyranny, whether you call it a republic, a monarchy, or anything else!"[94] Judge Thayer denied this motion for a new trial on October 23, 1926. After arguing against the credibility of Madeiros, he addressed the defense claims against the federal government, saying the defense was suffering from "a new type of disease,...a belief in the existence of something which in fact and truth has no such existence."[84][95]
I found this while reading up on Sacco and Vanzetti-

Won't let me edit but i found the bolded part interesting.
At least MGS will end with a huge bang.
(face it, everything after will be crap if not done by Kojima, spinoffs don't count)
The words 'mobile market' trigger an inner rage whenever I see them.
Guys, wait.
Holy shit.
The mobile market.
Metal Gear Solid Touch 2.

So...apparently a massive MGSV spoiler was shown off in a recent press pic. That's quite an oversight, if I do say so myself. For those who wanna know, it was [sp]MGS4!BigBoss. If we're gonna fastforward to that point in the series...i wonder what else the game will show.[/sp]

In fact thats an [sp]MGS4[/sp] poster in the background. Sorry mate but you've been bamboozled.

Not only is that [sp]MGS4's Inventory[/sp] it also looks like the [sp]Church from Act 3[/sp].
Also, note the poster in the back.
