I miss that about MGS2/3. The guards were so much more interactive in those games. I want them to bring all of that back in TPP.
I was amazed at how good the 3DS port was. Everything you could do on the PS2, you could do there. Including shooting the radio on a guard's shoulder to stop him calling for backup [editline]23rd January 2015[/editline] I hope they bring back the radio thing in tpp. It's kind of... disappointing.
Yeah, the fact that they report all these individual things on the radio in order to trigger alerts and searches, only for a man yelling CONTACT or HOSTILE to instantly put the base on alert no matter what unless he's silenced, is just really obnoxious. It feels like another obvious time constraint issue, but then if an enemy tried to run for cover to call a Combat Alert in, he'd be so easy and vulnerable to kill/KO/tranq while he's dawdling back there that it'd pretty much be impossible to trigger Combat Alerts. This isn't Solid 2, where even with the FPS view combat was still clunky enough to prevent an unskilled player from easily preventing alerts.
MGS2 sort of counteracted that by having guards that had to constantly report in or else they'd send a search team. They could totally do that with TPP, except on a larger scale. Wasn't it also noted in one of the TPP gameplay demos that the guards actually adapt based on which of the player's tactics are more prevalent? Like if you tranq guards in the head too often, then in future missions they will put on helmets. What if one of those "adaptations" are guards learning to travel in small groups instead of being alone?
Still no fix for the mouse movement when zoomed in?
I think it's suppose to be realistic. I have seen people claim that real soldiers on patrol leave their radios on so all they have to do is yell if something is wrong. Whether or not realism = fun gameplay is different matter.
Does anyone else think it's stupid how Ground Zeroes will become the most irrelevant MGS game ever after TPP comes out? I hope they at least put the main Ground Zeroes Mission in as the first mission of TPP, just so that it's not so disconnected from the rest of the story. Anyone who skips Ground Zeroes will have essentially missed how things end up where they are in TPP. I'm talking like 5-8 years from now. Somebody gets into this series and they get to MGSV and their gonna be confused about if they need to play Ground Zeroes or not. I guess it's not that big of a deal, it's entirely skip-able (story wise) in the overall story-arch, but's it's still going to be annoying to explain. The code-words "Hostile" and "Contact" are probably reserved only for 100% confidence in an enemy sighting. Soldiers say it every time you get spotted. So the entire base will know exactly what they mean when they say the code-words.
Just need to S rank Renegade Threat on hard and both difficulties of Anti Air and then some silly achievements. I should have an alright strategy for Threat. I'm not failing so hard by the way, I just get to play the game on weekends and not for long.

And anyway 'contact' means they're sure they saw someone, but didn't get to make sure whether they're friendly or hostile.

Whether or not realism = fun gameplay is different matter.
That would depend on the equipment. I'm pretty sure a lot of radios used by militaries are simplex/half-duplex (an assumption i make because i've seen and used only such) and can't be used to transmit and receive at the same time.

Whether or not realism = fun gameplay is different matter.
There's a pretty massive flaw in this logic. If the radio is on all the time, how do they not hear it when you shoot a guard? Even if you're using a silenced weapon, the gasp of pain followed by the sound of someone collapsing is pretty suspicious, but it's even possible to kill a guard with a non-silenced weapon and without getting a peep. Hell, you can pepper them full of bullets and it won't do a thing. Furthermore, if their radio was on all the time, even after you'd knocked them out or killed them it would still broadcast. It doesn't make sense.
The alarm is activated vocally, through a mic on their shirts, and by saying "contact" or "hostile" Duh. -edit- Okay, jeez, fine. Whats a joke.

Requesting that video where someone used Jock Jams' 'Ready to Rumble' as Morpho's landing music.
So the patch is out but no "surprise"? :(
So the patch is out but no "surprise"? :(
Not yet. Next Kojima Station is in February, there's the Taipei Game Show that may have something minor at the very least. Kojima confirmed that they'll announce the game's release date soon, but no one knows anything since they're being really teasingly secretive about things.
Every metal gear solid megathread on FP needs this video posted:

That would only piss off even more people who didn't think Ground Zeroes was worth $20-$30. Hell, it would piss off people who did.

We might revisit the camp itself for some extra missions but doubtfully GZ's specific missions. We might get a small flashback or even just the main GZ mission. Or we might just get a simple text crawl or some other form of explanation.
what if bb's suit was re-skinned fiddle colors imagine if his suit was black, brown and off-white like this

I've been looking a few things up because they seemed suspicious timeline-wise, and i'm now a bit creeped out by some potential plot points. I'll apply a spoiler, just incase. [sp]First, Hal Emmerich is born in 1980, and there's implications that Dr. Strangelove had an interest in Huey and over the 9 years Big Boss was in a coma, for all we know they may've married potentially. Hal also has British relatives, so it's not a jump in logic. But we've seen scenes of Huey being tortured in The Phantom Pain, even without much context, and we also know Huey will divorce his first wife to marry the second one that he has Emma with - and that wife rapes Hal, causing Huey to suicide. There's a very strong implication here that Big Boss may unwittingly be indirectly responsible for Hal's messed up family life.[/sp] [sp]Second, Raiden was born at an unconfirmed time in the 1980's as well. We don't know how young he was when Solidus killed his parents and took him under his wing, but Raiden was old enough to be a complete and utter terror of a child soldier in 1989 - the Liberia Civil War. If Raiden was born in 1984, he'd be five years old minimum, and I don't get the feeling he'd be that young for the civil war, something makes me want to guess he was born earlier than that. This holds the implication that both Solidus and and a very young Raiden are out and about during The Phantom Pain as well.[/sp]
Not Metal Gear related, but I really hope Kojima and Del Toro can make Silent Hills as scary as Silent Hill 2. I just started and played a bit of SH2 and I practically had an anxiety attack.
as much as I love MGS, Silent Hill 2 may be my #1 favorite game of all time. Glad to hear you're getting into it. What I love is how genuinely frightening it is without relying on any level of jump scaring, as well as the thickest atmosphere around. With a really well told story and a lovable main character. I look forward to hearing more about you having fun :v: So when I found out that the creator of my favourite game series is going to be making an installment in my second favorite with assistance from one of the most passionate directors working I think I came so damn hard I broke the wall
Even with a controller it's piss easy. It's really weird, they've made it ridiculously hard to avoid a full alert if you get spotted without reflex, but then at the same time they've made the combat so ridiculously piss easy that going into a big alert and murdering everyone/running away literally takes no effort.
that wasn't ever really difficult to do in mgs3, only reason it would ever give me any trouble in mgs2 is because they send in that shock squadron with the riot shields and shit
