but kojima was still only a executive producer. It was an attempt to let the studio work without him, and it didn't work out.

Wait what? You can't get the Stealth device until you beat the game at least once with Otacon's ending. Did you have a prior save or something? Or did you mean you got the Stealth device from beating the game?

Speaking of Kojima writing, I remember people saying that some writer was the one who gave MGS the serious tone, whereas the comedy bits were more of Kojima's shtick ("Hey guys, I made a chicken hat that helps your camo in farms! :D"). Either I'm reversed on that or not, I find it interesting that the tonal shift between comedy and drama in the series could be because of the multiple writers.

From what I've seen, the seriousness of the story has been continuously rising, while the absurdity sections of the games rise less so, leading to these comedy bits (seemingly) becoming less of a break from the depressing shit and more of a whiplash. I dunno if that's the right kind of mindset with this, but going into the games again I want to think deeper about things like this.

i was trying to get an S on the AA guns in hard mode, so i did the good old bum rush method
everything goes right, except the armored vehicle decided that he didn't want any of this, so i've just got a trap here and 6 guards coming at me
i didn't want to kill any one of them, but right as i think i'm fucked fucking morpho comes in and shoots the shit out of them
after that i managed to blow up the vehicle, get in the chopper and get an S because morpho's kills didn't count
i didn't even know he could fight back, thanks morpho
