Metal Gear Solid - Tactical Megathread Action VIII - We Are Diamond Dogs!

Finally got my hands on a PS3 after thinking about getting one for a while. I can finally play through MGS4 for my first time.
Yeah, if it's not Metal Gear Rising 2, then that company better fucking change their font.
Let's be honest, it's MGR:2, but they're trying to force mystique out of it even though we already know what it is. If not? Kojima flat out lied about anything being on that stream.
lets be real
even if that tease wasn't a confirmation ; MGRR did really well, got great reviews and sold decently if I recall, a sequel was already really likely
there will be more MGRRR in our life. And we're getting a DMC4 special edition. video games are being saved.

They had a poll up for what people wanted to see in a sequel. :v:

MGRRR?
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance's Revenge?

Raiden's Awakening
I don't understand why the trailer makers would use the '2' if it wasn't for a teaser. '3' and '1' aren't shown in the countdown, and the style of the title card is so radically different from Sony's style.
Pre-rendered cutscenes in any game with unlockable costumes rustle my OCD like you'd never believe.
I remember it bothered me so much in Assassins' Creed III that Connor's colours would always revert to boring old red white and blue in cutscenes
Dammit, I wanted white and red CANADIAN robes.
ACIII didn't have pre-rendered cutscenes tho.
They just didn't have enough space for including the cutscene resolution texture of all the recolored robes.
reminder that geoff said the phantom pain wasn't mgs and it wasn't kojima but joakim.
because he had the first exclusive interview.
this is literally the exact same thing.
Also a reminder that the font for the 2 is exactly the same as the Batman Forever font set and they showed a couple of Batman clips right after with half-a-second's worth of footage from Driveclub inbetween.

Why would Arkham Knight bring back Batman Forevers font.
So I finally finished the entire MGS series today after borrowing a PS3 + MGS4 from a friend. Sure was a wild ride all the way through.
I think they may have fucked up and showed it too early or something. If it actually turns out to not be R2, then someone REALLLY REALLLY REALLY FUCKED UP AT THEIR JOB.
Holy shit those twists at the end of mgs3

for some reason I get really giddy reading about folk playing MGS for the first time knowing they get to experience the baffling insanity and have it be fresh while I'll never get another chance

Even Kaz tells Big Boss to ignore PO.

The entire MGS series? You sure about that?
Better get on to playing Snake's Revenge.
Right now the worst thing about MGS4 is the control changes and its throwing me off, gaaah.
Silent Hill 2 was an emotionally draining experience. Kojima has a tough act to follow.
Today I learned that magazines are way more useful than they appear in Ground Zeroes
I'm just confused as to why the map is littered with them even though you start with infinity of them
Fuck the scientists and engineers in mgs3
Protip: When sneaking into Granin's lab, just equip the sneaking box in the final room, the one with all the consoles and scientists just before the office. The scientists will see you and go "Huh?" but won't raise an alarm.
i hope mgs5 has lots of guns
will never understand why theres so much gun porn in a game in which getting caught is p. much game over anyways

to everyone rating me disagree, 4chan's /mgg/ threw a fit when the weapons in gz weren't real
Going loud is kinda fun, as much as it's what your not supposed to do. The selection of guns is more useful for Metal Gear Online 3 if anything, i bet... That's if it doesn't evolve to "M4 Customs, Headshot Only, Final Destination", that is... I hope not.
I might go loud for parts in Phantom Pain, It depends. Random Russians and Africans i'll run a recruitment program through but anyone associated to Skullface is going to die.
MGO1 seems to be working for me (the emulated server) but i keep getting unstable connection messages. It could had been that i was in a lobby with Brazilians, i've done something wrong somewhere or the system just isn't perfect. I'd need to try it with a European or American. Runs like a dream, framerate wise though. It's going to be murder trying to play it with an Xbox pad, though. But that's what the M37 is for.
I'll probably just do the kind of run I always do in Metal Gear Solid games: Stealth sometimes, dick around and go loud most of the time, and punch the shit out of everyone I meet when the opportunity comes.
For a stealth series, I always found going loud and proud in MGS games to be a lot of fun.
Lethal weapons can be extremely effective in boss fights, even if you're doing them non-lethally. You can knock Fatman down with the SOCOM, you can force Vamp up out of the water with the grenade launcher, grenades and the AK47 are invaluable against The Pain, and destroying Raging Raven's fliers can help you manage the boss fight/farm Drebin Points.
Also if you use a stun grenade on the Fear any lethal damage counts as non-lethal damage so you can tranq kill him hilariously quickly. Though that one is obviously a bug.

You don't start with them on hard
I like doing non-lethal runs but there are so many fun lethal weapons especially in mgs4 and peace walker that I sorta just like the run and gun.
At least peace walker had the lethal trick to still be able to save and fulton them.

Getting caught isn't even remotely a game over though, lol. We're talking about MGS here, not Spliner Cell. MGS has fucking boss fights. Sometimes against giant mechs. Sometimes piloting giant mechs.
And hell, even in Splinter Cell games getting caught isn't the end of the world.
It's definitely gone less action oriented in GZ, though, for better or for worse. But it's still there.
