Nah, still giving it to 4 for worst boss fights. The difference is even in 2 there's persoanlity, weird as it is. Fatman is clearly this delirious mad bomber, Vamp is a fucking vampire and the boss fights are really frantic and fun. And the characters are established, there's context for who they are. 1 and 3 are probably the best for the personality exuded from the bosses, as each one feels unique. MGS4 just plops you in front of a sexy laday and asks you to shoot her in the tits because it's boss fight time.
They all had some fun fights. And I'll agree on the personality bits. I liked how in MGS2 during Olga's boss fight you could really tell that she'd been with the unit since she was born, that she grew up on the battlefield and that conflict and victory were her parents.
Kojima knows people would riot if it happened.
Then he would have brought back David for Ground Zeroes, which literally takes place a few months after Peace Walker. The coma is the perfect time to switch voice actors. GZ could have been David's last hurrah. Fuck you B&B Corps
Don't forget MGS4 has the BEST final boss in the entire series. I love you Liquid Ocelot. I'm just wondering, is the 5 in this image supposed to also be the classic exclamation mark or something else? [t]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/8/82/MGS5_TPP_E3_2014_main_imagery.jpg[/t]
As awful as MGS4 is, I love it. I don't know why. Sneaking through that game is very satisfying on boss extreme difficulty. And the insane amount of weapons and items you can use makes each play through feel pretty fun. Not to mention using disguises instead of octocamo for mixing it up. But, for obvious reasons, MGSV is going to take all that and expand it heavily. I think that's the thing I'm most excited about with MGSV is the insane amount of possibilities for tackling each mission. It's going to be the most "fun" MGS ever. (if you like open-world, free to do what you want type gameplay. I'm sure there are players out there who would rather have the linear, narrow-corridor, style levels like all the other MGS games) [editline]3rd February 2015[/editline]
I'm just wondering, is the 5 in this image supposed to also be the classic exclamation mark or something else? [t]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/8/82/MGS5_TPP_E3_2014_main_imagery.jpg[/t]
I've always thought of it as: And V: roman numeral for 5 As much as Kojima loves symbolism, the V is hitting a lot of marks for TPP: the 5th game in the series TPP is the follow up to peace walker, ie. the Peace Sign [sp]and the 'V' for Victory[/sp] Vic Boss Venom Snake
Don't forget Act 3 also has the WORST boss fight in the entire series. Fuck you Raging Raven.
Nah, Fortune is worse.
Nah, Fortune is worse.
Did you get railed too hard?
Did you get railed too hard?
lol are you serious fortune is a fucking joke
I just played through the sega cd version of snatcher. I really liked the dialogue and story but the light gun combat or whatever was dreadful. The whole game is just a big metal gear reference. I'm playing slowbeef's policenauts translation next. Side note: a new snatcher with L.A. Noire style gameplay would be sick
lol are you serious fortune is a fucking joke
And still better than any of the B&B unit. Maybe except Crying Wolf, but that's about it.
even though mgs4 is the worst in the series it's still my favorite for a lot of reasons and is the one i have played through the most times
The fucking cutscene at the end of Act 3 is so goddamn long for no real reason. It's just padded out with shite.
it does redeem itself at the end tho sorta :v:
even though mgs4 is the worst in the series it's still my favorite for a lot of reasons and is the one i have played through the most times
I liked 4 better than 2. When it came to cutscenes, it was worse for 2 since there were parts that were pretty much walking from one cutscene to another.
And still better than any of the B&B unit. Maybe except Crying Wolf, but that's about it.
lol have you played the fortune ""boss fight""anytime recently? it's by far the worst boss in the series
It's not even a boss fight
i think 4 is a very good game and enjoyed it a lot
EDIT: Nah, this was terrible
I want one where the protagonist isn't Snake. Maybe a scout sniper who is used to conventional conflicts. Not some wide eyed loser like Raiden, but an experienced soldier who is basically a straight man to the fucking weirdness that is the metal gear series. Like fifteen minutes into the game he encounters a boss character who launches into what seems like a pre-boss fight speech only for the protagonist to shoot him in the face mid sentence and just walk off. Having the main character as a straight man would be really satisfying in this series. "Jesus, you fuckers, would you stop going on about CQC? I have a gun. There isn't a shortage of bullets."
that would be the lamest thing ever. sounds like the MGS equivalent of shadow the hedgehog to be frank with you [editline]3rd February[/editline] "take a wild guess and say you guys failed with that peace crap" *shoots sniper wolf in the face*

Pulling it back and grounding it through the eyes of one of the soldiers fighting in this shit is kinda necessary. Otherwise we're on the saints row road, where it just ridiculous. I mean really it has already gotten pretty ridiculous. Much of the world supposedly remains oblivious to much of the tech that appears and is accepted almost without question by the cast of the current metal gears. Having someone who had been fighting as a conventional fighter in other conflicts suddenly be thrust into the metal gear world provides a lot of interesting character opportunities.

Your idea sounds like the most out of place try hard shit I've read in a while.

Thats less a Metal Gear game and more an incredibly dumb Metal Gear parody you'd see in a game mocking the series. [editline]3rd February 2015[/editline] Plus, the games stories center around conspiracies. Shooting the dude explaining the conspiracy wouldnt be the brightest idea. [editline]3rd February 2015[/editline]
Is it me, or does Big Boss head just look too big in this image? Like, super wide, in a way.
Its his hair. I have somewhat longish hair kind of like that, it just does that.
the closest MGS had to a straight man was Raiden and even then he did cartwheels and fought with a katana [editline]3rd February 2015[/editline] I mean part of the fun is that there is no one sane in Metal Gear. Otacon is a weab who bangs his stepmother, Solid Snake and Big Boss are possibly autistic, Liquid has daddy issues, Ocelot has backstabbing disorder etc etc
This guy does a series where he critically analyzes the main installments in the franchise. He does an excellent job of discussing the relationship between the story and the mechanics, which frankly is how all game analysis should be.
EDIT : Fair point. Lets try and put something positive in this dumb space.
