we've had this discussion before, the reason why reviews are still a good thing even after liking it is to give you more insight on why you liked it or what you could take from it to make better games
I actually anytime I play a game usually watch Yahtzee's ZP on it immediatedly after (Even if I watched it before) so I can laugh and understand the jokes so I get this mentality
but the idea of him being a pragmatic "realistic" guy is just not fun or cool at all. guys who pull a gun on a boss mid-speech are the ones who get their brains blown out to show you how tough the fight will be, and then once the boss is gone you look back and see the "pragmatic" guy's corpse and think "what a dumbass punk." it's just so tryhard.
Didn't Raiden blow Fatman's brains out mid-speech in the DGN? Granted, it was kind of near the end of the fight, but still. [editline]3rd February 2015[/editline]
Didn't Raiden blow Fatman's brains out mid-speech in the DGN?
We've hit the point where Snake has been played out and the universe has become relatively strange.
MGS1 was Snake's fourth game. Assuming Big Boss had the title of Snake at this time (not sure if this was an MGS3 thing) then we have four different characters named Snake after MGS1. MGS1 had an elite squad of commandos who's names were [word] [animal] FOXHOUND had: - A dude who could fly, teleport, read minds, manipulate minds, turn invisible, and throw shit around with his mind. - A soviet cowboy. - A man who could disguise himself as literally anyone. - A shaman who could talk to birds, immobilize people with his mind, and lift a 300 lb gun (and use it). - Soldiers that had been enhanced through "gene therapy" There was a virus that was coded to target specific people. A weeaboo was a prominent character. The world's ultimate weapon is a machine that can walk around and "fire a nuke from anywhere in the world." The Illuminati has also been featured heavily in the series.
Patriots are essentially the illumanti repurposed. I like to pretend that Deus Ex and MGS take place in the same universe. Mainly because they're both about guttural growlers investigating shadowy conspiracies with their annoying tech friends barking in their ear.
I just wanna point out, even though it was only established in MGS3 that Big Boss was called Naked Snake, Snakes Revenge isnt about Solid Snake getting revenge, but Big Boss getting revenge. Funny how that turned out.
the closest MGS had to a straight man was Raiden and even then he did cartwheels and fought with a katana [editline]3rd February 2015[/editline] I mean part of the fun is that there is no one sane in Metal Gear. Otacon is a weab who bangs his stepmother, Solid Snake and Big Boss are possibly autistic, Liquid has daddy issues, Ocelot has backstabbing disorder etc etc
Where'd you get autistic from Snake/Big Boss though?
Just bought my Legacy Edition and I'm waiting for it to ship in. I can't wait. I wish I was introduced to the MGS series earlier but atleast the franchise ain't over yet with the arrival of MGSV. And I'm hoping that they would include a modified version of this in MGSV if there's ever a scene between Naked Snake and Revolver Ocelot. Boy i think you should catch up on your trailers. :v:
I... Uh... "If"? Boy i think you should catch up on your trailers. :v:
I forgot to add fight scene in there but my fault. :suicide:
Where'd you get autistic from Snake/Big Boss though?
There's a joke that's popular on /v/ and /vg/ that snake is autistic because he can't talk to people and just repeats phrases and talks about M1911's for 3 minutes at a time

How many times do we need to go over this.
Don't forget that he's also never seen any movie ever and thought that eating a glowing mushroom would recharge his batteries. Plus there's always this gem:
and who else wants to bet that big boss' first time was at the end of MGS3 this one-eyed bearded virgin that probably smells like animal guts, sweat, piss, and cigar smoke. probably didn't even take off his bandana while he was doing it. what a fucking dork
And if he hears about vampires he will dream about them. Big Boss is the worst. Solid Snake 4 lyfe
And if he hears about vampires he will dream about them. Big Boss is the worst. Solid Snake 4 lyfe
solid snakes so scared of vampires he doesn't even shoot vamp when he's got a perfect angle on him

Solid is a horn dog who will go for anything with legs.
solid snakes so scared of vampires he doesn't even shoot vamp when he's got a perfect angle on him
That's Pliskin, though.
So this got here today, $25 including shipping. Thought it was pretty good since you can't get these any more don't think. [t]http://i.imgur.com/TpO7DvC.jpg[/t] MGR pre-order art book, fuck shinkawas art is so good.
what is it?
Art book for MGR, you got it for pre-ordering it when it came out for consoles.
I just got captured by the MGSV: Phantom Pain E3 trailer. I have not played any MG / MGS games, and i want to play them. So how should i go about this? Should i play MG & MG2? Or MGS 1-5? Also Kojima said that he recommends newbies to start out with MGS3 and read the novels for the story, but I'd like your opinion on it.
Release order, else you'll hate the controls in MGS1, after being accustomed to MGS3.
So, MG>MG2>MGS1>MGS2 etc? Or leave out the MG1&2?
So, MG>MG2>MGS1>MGS2 etc? Or leave out the MG1&2?
Yeah, but you don't have to play the NES games, they are/were pretty good games for their time though.
As always release order, MG1 / 2 are optional pretty much if you can't get into them. There's an option in the main menu in MGS1 that explains the story of them. So MG1 > MG2 > MGS1 - 4 > PW > GZ > TPP
Yeah, but you don't have to play the NES games, they are/were pretty good games for their time though.
MSX not NES
So, MG>MG2>MGS1>MGS2 etc? Or leave out the MG1&2?
You can leave out MG1 and MG2 if you like. Otherwise here's the 'main' series, you should play in this order. Metal Gear Solid Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops (Optional, kind of retconned, kind of not) Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance (Side-story, not integral for MGSV but still a blast to play) Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain
There's an option in the main menu in MGS1 that explains the story of them.
Ah yes, the faithful adaption of Metal Gear 1 and 2 given to us by MGS1, detailing the adventures of Solid Snake and Agent "Horry".
Ah yes, the faithful adaption of Metal Gear 1 and 2 given to us by MGS1, detailing the adventures of Solid Snake and Agent "Horry".
It's a common mistranslation between L and R in the japanese language.
