I know that final scene is dividing but fuck you guys I think the ending besides all the baffling zero to one nonsense is incredibly heartwarming and a pretty nice send off to the arcs of the characters.
I didn't mind how cheesy the wedding was, but I still do think that the ending would've been much better if [sp]snake actually killed himself[/sp]
I will fight eternally on that shit, I don't think it'd be satisfying it all. I know Kojima wanted it originally but it's a shit ending.
[sp]The point at the ending is Snake DOES have something to live for finally. He doesn't have to fight. for the first time in his life, he's free of everyones control and doesn't have to raise a gun ever again. It's much sweeter if he gets to spend his last year on earth just chilling back, watching anime with his lover[/sp]
It seemed kinda out of character for Snake [sp]not to kill himself[/sp]. I never really thought of Snake as somebody who would pussy out of something like that last minute.
How many times do we need to go over this.

Some of these are fairly desperate examples, others are spot on.

Nah, see he fully intended to. He was completely going to, but at the end he wanted to keep going. Then he reconciles with his ol' pal.
I don't get the overwhelming dislike for the ending and Snake [sp]surviving, of all things.[/sp]

I see it in a different way, sort of. The dude's been a professional soldier for years, and that means he's very, very good at one thing - Staying alive at any cost, despite overwhelming odds against him. It's not easy even for a hardass like Snake to turn that on its head and pull the trigger when it'd mean his death.

Interested to see what you think of 4 especially after a marathon.
Well, I've finished it.
And I have to say, I honestly really liked it, save for part of Act 2 (The sneaking around at night was cool, and then you more or less get forced into killing a lot of people to advance...) and pretty much all of Act 3 (except for Big Mama's reveal). Like yeah, some of the cut scenes outstayed their welcome a bit (*cough* mission briefings and the end of act 3 *cough*), but the rest of the game made up for that. My only other issues were Drebin's shop (too many things about it don't make sense, and it doesn't really fit with MGS), Drebin and his "SO YEAH THIS IS WHY SHE IS ALL MESSED UP", Drebin's Monkey, and the Raven boss lady. The B&B overall didn't feel very well introduced to the story, but most of the battles made up for that (Especially the last one).
Oh, and the control changes. It was weird going from 3 games that used pretty much the same controls, that worked really well for the style of game, and then they sorta got changed to something really different. Took a while to readjust, that and I missed the really slow walking from MGS3.
But, over all, I really did like it. Especially the story. I also really liked the ending. While sure, it would have been interesting to see Snake go out with a whimper, this ending (save for Zero being brought there), was really nice. Like, I legitimately liked it. Specifically, Snake not killing himself.
In MGS1, Otacon said "It’s not a weak point. I like to think of it as a character flaw. People just aren’t complete without some type of character flaw, don’t you think?"
That stuck with me. And I realized, maybe this isn't true, but Snake's flaw is that he will survive at any cost necessary. Which is why I honestly prefer the Otacon ending to MGS1 as well, because Snake was just looking to survive in that one. That's his flaw, surviving, even at the cost of others.
With that in mind, I liked how he couldn't bring himself to do it. I thought it was a good bookend to the series.
But seriously though, FUCK DREBIN.
Be glad it wasn't Kojima's first draft for the ending. [sp]Where Snake and Otacon turn themselves in to the authorities, since they're technically terrorists and all, and get double-executed as a result.[/sp] The entire development team mutinied on Kojima over it and Here's To You in the real bulk of the credits is a nod to the original intention.

Really glad you got to barrell through the ride.
Might wait a bit for Peace Walker, might dive right into it, but yeah, I think MGS4 is an incredibly good ending to the seires. And that bit with the Boss is only gonna get sweeter after MGSV.

NOW SNAKE I'M SURE YOU'VE REALIZED BY NOW... THERE WAS NO GORILLA...
I was just watching the really old Phantom Pain reveal trailer from back in 2012.
Who the hell is this? I'm pretty sure it's a woman.

Way back then, Kojima may not have known exactly which characters he would decide to show before the game is released. I feel like this could be Amanda, but I really haven't a clue. She's definitely not shown in any other MGSV footage. It's so strange.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say it might be the same person as this.

But I have not really kept up with TPP promotional material for a while.
Nah gas mask person is Psycho Mantis
Just got the biggest boner at the thought of going full blown apocalypse now.

I just had a random thought, [sp]what if it were you to pull the trigger on Snake and Otacon, like you had to on Boss in MGS3?[/sp]
But wasn't the reason Snake wanted to [sp]kill himself because he thought the mutated FoxDie would infected any person? So he basically didn't have the guts to protect innocent people until Deus Ex Boss arrives and tells him everything is alright?[/sp]

I wish people would stop with the "BB is supposed to be dead" thing regarding the end of mgs4
its a series where deception happens at three turnabouts a minute, it's entirely possible that he was never dead and staged his own death to [sp]find zero and kill him[/sp]

I want to say that's Raikov, but it's probably not.

How could he have staged his own death?
We barbecued him with a fucking flamethrower.

yeah, the same guy who survives a helicopter crash over the ocean, and wakes up from a coma 9 years later to absolutely wreck everyone's shit
what's your point
Using the body parts of Liquid and Solidus Snake, EVA had Big Boss's body rebuilt, eventually restoring him to his former appearance, though he remained in a comatose state due to the Patriots' nanomachines within him.

Big Boss's body was said to be in cold storage to preserve his remains. A grave was laid next to The Boss's grave, which read: "A Hero Forever Loyal to the Flames of War, Rests in Outer Heaven. 193X - 1999." This was in order to reaffirm Zero's lore that Big Boss was indeed dead.
What happened to the woman?
The woman? We gave her a light and she took the short way down.

Praise Kojima if they manage to release it on ALL platforms at the same time.

I don't want to stay off the internet for months until it releases on PC.

Makes sense.
I wish it would have come out earlier, but that's Summer time, and Summer means no school, and no school means no classes for me to fail because I'm so wrapped up in Metal Gear.
Think about it: MGSV on 5/5/2015?? Cmon, that's gotta be it.
Also that day is a Tuesday, the most popular day of the week to release games.

That's also the 2nd Quarter of the year.
Although that would be perfect.
Eh if Konami was predicting the quarter back in October it could've changed by now.
