it's one thing to fight for an ideology, it's another things to use brainwashed child soldiers
The metal gear wiki puts things a little differently:
In 1997, Big Boss and his followers participated in the Mercenary War, giving a fledgling nation on the border of the former USSR, Pakistan, China, and Afghanistan its independence. Zanzibar Province, a former autonomous zone of the USSR, thus became Zanzibar Land with Big Boss as its president. Recruiting war orphans from across the Third World and raising them as soldiers, Big Boss hoped to create a nation by and for soldiers where soldiers were honored, not treated as political tools.
According to the Wiki, these children were trained as soldiers, but were never armed and deployed in that capacity in Zanzibar Land. It opens up the possibility that Big Boss intended to train them until they reached adulthood and deploy them as adults.
I have NOT played many of the MGS games, and I haven't played the original Metal Gear games, so I have to ask - Did BB actually deploy these kids as soldiers - Or was Solid Snake simply told that he had? And if the latter, could that have been a lie?

well maybe BB lied to make snake kill him

That looks like some ambiguity there - He doesn't say bring them back into war as children. But indoctrinating them and using them? Definitely.

The thing about the Metal Gear series... is that there's a huge gap. Before Metal Gear Solid, Big Boss was a cookie-cutter villain. They didn't really seem to have the intention of fleshing him out as being any more or less. But when the events of MGS1 happened, they switched directions, and MGS3 was a beginning to the telling of HIS story. It's possible that in The Phantom Pain, Kojima intends to fill in those gaps, and possibly even retcon some of the cartoon villain stuff that BB was known for to make the whole narrative more believable, make it fit better with the character we know from MGS3 and Peace Walker. Either way, we know that in TPP, Big Boss finally snaps. It's very interesting that he's going to be the primary protagonist, because they'll have to explain his new ideology in sympathetic terms.
Honestly, if Raiden was better received in the West, we probably wouldn't have gotten MGS3. And with that, Big Boss probably would have stayed a villain.
Basically, this is all Raiden's fault.

The story still works as it is, whatever the original intention.

Yeah, it ultimately does, although there are some personal gripes for me here and there.
Maybe it's just because I haven't played some of the Metal Gear Games... but I always liked Big Boss more as a protagonist than Solid Snake. Solid's story strikes me as a little cliched in MGS1 (Which, given the 1990s development and release, I really can't fault.) They really flesh him out in later games, but the first telling of MGS3's story feels more... fresh. The hero's still this burly, ruggedly handsome adonis with trust issues, but he's one hell of an oddball, too, and the story challenges a lot of conventions in the 'spy thriller' structure.
solid snake is the realer human being
solid snake is the realer human being
And a real hero?
the last time i played mgs3 i played pokemon. kept snakes and other animals as long as i could (or until i found another useful animal) and threw them at any guard to make them struggle with it before fist fighting them.
if i don't get to play TPP the same way im going to be very mad

Chances are you won't be able to carry live animals around with you, but we can hope.

At least you can turn Mother Base into a zoo.
At least you can turn Mother Base into a zoo.
big boss retired and turned mother base into a sheep sanctuary. metal gear timeline splits, results in sheep taking over the world governments.
things are probably better this way.

Pondering if this thing can be autonomous and used as a buddy.

brainwashing of any kind of pretty clearly evil, but either way I was primarily talking about Solidus, actually.

Well, DD could be used as one pokemon. Just hell her(him?) to attack all the soldiers in your way.

Wait, what map is that? It looks too green to be Afghanistan, but too meadowy and flat to be Africa? Maybe a new map? Or maybe a part of either of the maps that we just haven't seen before?
also, what's up with 25-6?

the wait for the phantom pain is giving people fever dreams
Does anyone think it would be cool to have short side missions where you deploy your buddies but actually get to play said missions yourself?
Like be Ocelot for a little bit, and naturally the gameplay changes up a bit, to maybe a more Max Payne style run and gun?
Naturally if that isn't your style it would be an optional thing.

Most likely just a part of africa or a test map. No way that can be cyprus.

I would kill for a mission where BB gets caught and ocelot goes to save him and reflex mode would be instant kills and the action button to twirl revolvers
and you dont have the idroid you just press tab and ocelot calls for the ocelot unit

Man, I can't wait to do some CQC with that thing.

Who wrote Ocelot and why did he make him the best character in the series?
Having read they changed Otacon a lot, was Ocelot entirely Kojima?

I think so, yeah. the guy who co-wrote mgs2 left by the time mgs3 rolled around (the guy who wrote most of the stuff on the patriots) which is why mgs4 sometimes is forced
but the characters are mostly kojima

Looks like it has camera/sensor pod mounted up top so i wouldn't be surprised, although having a buddy that's also a vehicle seems odd

D-Horse is the same thing in concept, I'm not sure if it has any offensive capabilities though (other than poop).

I don't understand why this is such a problem. She's a special ops soldier, it makes sense if she's bulky as shit
it'd just look dumb if she was some tiny porpotioned anime girl

Sure it makes sense, I just don't like it.

Even if that doesn't happen, there's still Metal Gear Online, so it's like a win-win scenario.
Niggas just don't like their husky waifus.
