I liked act 3 more then tailing missions in other games, because loosing the guy does not mean instant fail & reload, if you fuck up you have to carry on and locate the guy again/rescue him from the PMC's
for some reason I found it more challenging this way, although some people will surely say that it only made it more annoying
also the town is a pretty big area by MGS standards, I think it's the biggest location in MGS4 that you can roam around
[sp]and also it takes place in my country so I'm a bit biased[/sp]
The first time I played it I didn't realise the rebel used a disguise so when we came face to face I freaked out and tranqued him, then spent the next half an hour blindly looking for him.
I know I was watching that one MGS livestream marathon last month and at one point the streamer pretty much perfectly handled everything so that the rebel could advance without any issues blocking his path. And then suddenly Otacon comes on and says the rebel died and they'll have to find another one.
Turns out accidentally causing the rebel to stop for ten seconds earlier by passing a little too close to his line of sight led to him rounding a corner at the exact time a patrolling enemy vehicle went right along and the dumb bastard got ran over while the streamer was occupied with clearing the way. :v:
you're a real egotistical woman
Raiden says that. Ok.

waitin for a release date
MGO is gonna be interesting with bullet drop etc
I thought it was only the tranq that had bullet drop?
I'm sure you're correct Ozzy but I hope that all guns have at least some bullet drop
They all have bullet drop in GZ.
Bullet physics are some of my favorite things in video games. They really make you think about all the bullets you're firing. Like in STALKER when you're using the vintar bc and forget to correct for gravity and the bullet falls, hits the ground, then bounces back up and hits a bandit in the stomach and he bleeds out a few seconds later

I thought it was France or Italy.
I thought it was France or Italy.
It's never specifically said but it's mostly based on Prague.

Wait, what map is that? It looks too green to be Afghanistan, but too meadowy and flat to be Africa? Maybe a new map? Or maybe a part of either of the maps that we just haven't seen before?
Remember the setting in Metal Gear Solid 3?

It would be cool to go back to Tselinoyarsk, especially since it later [sp]becomes Zanzibar Land.[/sp]
Perhaps it's Lebanon during the '80s civil war?

This is a great interview.
The following information has been detailed in official Konami-licensed media, which were written by various external authors. Therefore, its status in the Metal Gear canon is unconfirmed.[?]
Tselinoyarsk would later become known as Zanzibar Land, the nation that was granted independence from the Soviet Union by Big Boss, who previously infiltrated the area decades ago. The reason why Russia and the CIS were unwilling to let Tselinoyarsk gain its independence was because it was the only strategic border and religious cushion remaining separating Russia and the former Soviet countries in Central Asia from Muslim countries.[3]
Just started playing through MGS, I can't believe I haven't played this before.
Taking a break shortly after [sp]Gray Fox's first fight[/sp], and man I can't sweat how great the game is :v:
You're in for a wild ride. Enjoy it.
My girlfriend just beat MGS2 (meaning she has now beaten MGS1+2+3 in total). She loved it. She has a million questions about the interconnecting plots but I'm begging her to not look anything up until she beats 4, which she's very eager to start. 2 was already a huge emotional rollercoaster for her so I can't wait for 4 to completely fuck her up.
Especially since her favorite characters are Raiden and Big Boss (in that order).

Oh, man, she's going to love/hate the ending for 4.
I watched a full playthrough for MGS4 directly after playing MGS3, and those feels, man. Those feels.

She'll be happy then, Raiden's one of the very few who gets a somewhat happy ending.
And then Rising Revengeance.
Tell me you haven't spoiled Rising Rebvengeance for her.

here's kojima's response to the abundance of helicopter pics
You know, in a weird way, I think Big Boss in MGS4 had a happy ending. He couldn't be allowed to live after all he'd done, and he faced it freely. And in the end, he finally understood and was reconciled with the one person he'd loved more than anyone or anything else, someone from whose loss he'd been suffering and wracked with guilt since he was 29 years old.
