in the vita version of mgas 2 & 3 they re-recorded all the controls dialogue to be accurate to vita controls
you can kinda hear that their voices differ a little in those moments, they probably hired different voice actors
For reals? I thought MGS said "ACTION BUTTON" to kind of alleviate these for ports.

When it tells you how to use the codec/radio they tell you to "press the select/back button."

Oh ya, totally forgot that was ps3 exclusive.
Not to mention that they break the 4th wall in a mission and say they're on the ps3 in the game itself, which would be a bit out of place if it was ported over to something something like the xbox
breaking the fourth wall goes as far back as MGS1
the fucking frequency for the codec is on the back of the manual and baker tells it to you just like that.

that's what I love about MGS, the fourth wall doesn't exist in anyway. Even MG2 has Big Boss asking you to turn off the game console.
So I've played and beaten every Metal Gear game. What is the hardest thing to do in the series?

-100% all VR Missions / Dog Tags in MGS2
-Big Boss emblem in MGS4
in my opinion
and for the truly brave
-"Stormbringer" in MGRR, which is completing Revengeance mode with exclusively S ranks.
Big Boss runs in every game.

The button names weren't the problem; the ports have different control schemes due to different controller tech. The 360 doesn't have pressure-sensitive buttons like PS2/3 does, and Vita/3DS have less buttons than a standard controller.

360 doesn't have pressure sensitive controls? Ouch. That must make it kinda awkward to do stuff like holdups and whatnot.

they remapped most of it, and it isn't bad for the most part

The left thumbstick is used for aiming without firing. It actually worked kind of well.
What I don't get is why the 360 doesn't have pressure sensitive buttons. Even the original Xbox had that.

Every console should have them, IMO. MGS convinced me that they're worth it.
Same reason the xbone and even the ps4 don't have them, not enough games used them. MGS2& 3is the only one I can think of.

they are actually entirely useless even in mgs3, you can use the digital keys for the slowest movement
He is talking about the pressure sensitive buttons for shooting versus aiming.
I think that was not only a design choice for the controls but intention by Kojima (the idea of purposely pulling the trigger in a way) but that is just my speculation.
I can see pressure sensitive buttons being useful in games but what kind of games, honestly. Most people don't want these kind of controls and I don't feel they would really benefit the majority of games coming out.
I thought it was pretty nice for peeking but it's pretty obnoxious in Mgs3 for stabbing, it only works half the time with me.
It's really easy to get the hang of the pressure sensitive controls, at least on the dualshock 3
Whenever I needed to CQC hold someone in MGS3 I'd just press to the side of the button and only let the edge of my finger lay on top of it, this way there's enough pressure to activate it but not enough for it to be fully pressed

MGS4 is the easiest for the best rank, you should try MGS2 Big Boss
also Metal Gear Rising isn't that bad becuase your counter-attacks have more damage on Revengance difficulty and you're kinda experienced already, what's really kicked my ass were some VR missions.
That dual GRAD boss fight seems impossible on a fresh revegance playthrough, since attacks come at you so fast from multiple targets. Everything up until there felt tough but fair, but that was just a wall I could only break with upgrades from a previous playthrough.
Also, is there a way to do a hold up from a grab in MGS3, or is that only an MGS5 thing?

You can cqc hold someone and throw them on the ground to hold them up.
You can cqc hold someone and throw them on the ground to hold them up.
Any way to shake them down in that state, or get them to stand back up? I got one guy to react when I shot a gun, but I can't make it happen again to anyone else.
I think its pretty clear that Phantom Pain is not going to be Kojima's last Metal Gear as the guy is a workaholic and perfectionist. Just like movie directors or other people working on such a big projects he is tired after finishing the game but gets inspired after receiving the positive feedback and the advancing technology. I personally wish Kojima would atleast personally work on the original Metal Gear remake (which uses aspects of both Metal Gear 1 and 2) titled Metal Gear Solid 6: Outer Heaven or something to close the circle with Sutherland playing Big Boss and Hayter playing young Solid Snake. There is also still his dream project that he is always talking about[sp] the Grey Fox game.[/sp]

You have to fire a gun so the bullet/dart hits the ground right next to their body, like between their legs or under their arm.

There are no R2/L2 triggers on vita, so you change your weapon/item by touching the weapon icon on the touchscreen, for instance
I hope the Hero characters in MGO are more expansive than Ocelot and Big Boss. I wish it could involve Sniper Wolf, Vulcan Raven, The End, and even Solid Snake but I doubt they'd go through the effort to recreate them just for MGO.

Okay, so looking for help on Peace Walker is an absolute rollercoaster
I'm trying to get past the second Peace Walker fight, but everywhere I look recommends having the M60 with armor piercing, but from what I've gathered you can only unlock that by finishing Extra Ops 43... which only unlocks itself by completing a Zadornov mission, which is after my current stage.
Is there an easy way at all or do I have to grind for another few years and use support/strike markers every 3 seconds?
I like Peace Walker's mechanics but the boss fights are an absolute joke from start to finish.

Which console are you playing on? Sometimes it's just better to play coop (if you're playing the HD version), though it shouldn't really be giving you that much trouble.
I remember I started that mission with a pretty gimped loadout by accident and saw it through to the end just because the great music made me not want to pussy out. You probably will be using lots of support markers though.
If you can name your base
What will it be?
I love how in Peace Walker everyone has issues with the bosses at first but then when you play another hundred hours and get the real hardcore equipment they end up all looking like cakewalks.
If you can name your base

base 09
so they'll think I have 8 other bases somewhere numbered 01 to 08 and possibly even double digits of bases
that'll throw 'em off
