From Eurogamer
The branding changes appear to relate to a restructure at Konami, announced earlier this month, to what the company calls "a headquarters-controlled system". The idea seems to be that Konami should be front and centre of all branding and production efforts, not individual studios such as Kojima's Kojima Productions. This, in part, would explain the removal of the "A Hideo Kojima game" tagline, used in all Metal Gear Solid games up to this point. "As we have already announced, we are shifting our production structure to a headquarters-controlled system, in order to establish a steadfast operating base capable of responding to the rapid market changes that surround our digital entertainment business." Konami's statements will do nothing to assuage concern that Kojima has exited - or plans to exit - Konami. At the time of publication, the legendary video game designer had yet to address the issue on Twitter.
if Kojima leaves Konami they'll basically lose all relevance beyond shit smartphone games, lol we'll see how this goes

MGS is the thing keeping Konami afloat, by having MGS be made by KojiPro creates a gap between the game's reputation and Konami. This way, by having MGS be associated with konami instead of Kojipro and Kojima puts their other games in a better light. Doubt it will save konami from dying though.
or, they simply make it so it starts off with Konami presents
so what does this mean for silent hills

SO... this really is the last Metal Gear. I'm a sad mad boy.
SO... this really is the last Metal Gear. I'm a sad mad boy.
Doubtful, honestly. Even if it is "Kojima's" series, it still belongs to Konami and they can do whatever they want with it. They've made MGS games without Kojima before, and they can do it again.
But it's not a true Metal Gear title without Kojima's involvement.
I can't wait for Tom Clancy's Metal Gear Solid
I'd like to see Kojima make a splinter cell game, and Ubi make a metal gear game. Just to see how much difference a dev team can make on an IP.
so what does this mean for silent hills
Depends if Kojipro will still be the same. They might just turn into Konami Development Studio #32 like how Capcom does it. [editline]19th March 2015[/editline] In my eyes recently, Kojima is Konami. They've just been kinda dead with their other IP's.

He wanted to go, but they kept trying to make games without him and he didn't want them to suck so he kept coming back. It's his baby. I've always thought that he can only keep doing that for so long, though. Eventually he's probably going to just let it go (if he hasn't already). And knowing how these game companies work, They'll just keep running the series into the ground without him.
Ubi make a metal gear game.
I think I'd prefer MGS V being the last metal gear game.
If MGSV is the last, I'll be completely satisfied. Things dipped for Kojima as he didn't want to be dragged along this far, but I suppose it was for the best in the end, as MGSV is the game he's always wanted to make.
And this is where we find out that Kojima has left and MSGV has been delayed so that the new creative team can cut down on the child murder and other objectionable content?
And this is where we find out that Kojima has left and MSGV has been delayed so that the new creative team can cut down on the child murder and other objectionable content?
This is what i'm afraid of, since based Kojima is being completely silent about all of this.
Its not exactly over for Metal Gear, they will probably remake 1 and 2 or maybe work on Rising 2. I get a feeling its gonna peak with MGS V and it'll never be the same without kojima. Probably for the best to leave on a high note.
Not to be a conspiracy theorist, but wasn't the last tweet from kojima "heading off" and a picture of snake about to get on a heli back on the 16th.
From Gamespot:
A fallout between Kojima Productions and its owning publisher, Konami, has led to senior staff at the studio being restricted access to corporate internet, emails, and phone, GameSpot understands. Along with the restricted communications, key developers at the studio, such as Hideo Kojima, will now have limited opportunities to lend their appearance to promotions of the studio’s upcoming game, Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain. Power struggles between Kojima Productions and Konami have led the publisher to make drastic changes, including the employee status of its Metal Gear team. Some senior staff at the studio, including Kojima, now essentially work as contractors, not permanent employees. The extraordinary measures were revealed by a source within the studio, speaking to GameSpot on the condition of anonymity. The person explained that, once the Phantom Pain project is finished, in all likelihood the management at the studio will disband. "After we finish MGSV, Mr. Kojima and upper management will leave Konami. They said their contract ends in December," the source claimed. The person added: "At a team meeting, Mr Kojima explained that team have to be one and make a good game for fans."
Fuck. [editline]19th March 2015[/editline] I hope Kojima stays in the game industry.
Fuck.
Fuck Konami If it is true. Fucking kill Silent Hill and sour the Metal Gear Solid finale for everyone because they are fading away. I know that I shouldn't jump to conclusions before everything is done, but even at a glance Konami seems to be fucking incompetent at best.

Ya they totally just ruined any momentum for Silent Hills. The marketing for that heavily relied on Kojima and Guillermo Del Toro being tied to it.
can konami still use the fox engine and existing assets for silent hills if they fire kojipro before it's finished? i guess they must be able to
this just makes it seem like konami is really close to death and super desperate or maybe it's related to http://www.gamesradar.com/hideo-kojima-teases-gamers-with-taboo-new-game/
The "taboo new game" was MGS5. Konami makes as much money off of Japanese gyms/fitness clubs and pachinko machines as they do off of their entire games enterprise, so they're probably not exactly limping around yet.
The "taboo new game" was MGS5
of course, but we've yet to see what's taboo about it.
Well if konami wasn't dying before this then they sure are fucked now. Pretty much killing their biggest IP seems like a good way to kill yourself.
