So my only real compalint about Twin Snakes so far is that some of the cutscenes have bordered on Ridiculous and some of the voice acting is worse.
The gameplay from mgs2 doesn't work in the level design of the original either. First person silenced tranqing is just incredibly broken since you can just do it from the entrance of almost every room.
Being able to hang and drop from places is also something that breaks the level design.
Different cutscenes could have been alright, but instead the action is figuratively the matrix and the rest is character breaking dumb shit

It has music is also a lot worse, take two incredibly recognizable songs from the original and hear these turds

People are blowing this extremely out of proportion. It's still a dick move, but he's not fired, there's no need for folks to be kneejerking quite that hard.
Also it's not exactly breaking news seeing as it's been discussed all day.
FUCK

I really hope Kojima tries to make an action-rpg again. Boktai was one of my favorite games of all time, it was so unique and I liked the solar sensor feature. It was so stylish as well, some of my favorite pixel art.
The only thing about his departure I'm not okay with is the idea he might not make the new Silent Hill. That P.T. demo was so god damn scary.
man and i was hoping the series could just die a dignified death
cant wait for mgs 27 made by an unknown czech company on ue4 with incredibly dumbed down mechanics and even dumber plot
Czechs dont really make shitty games though
Honestly, it says 'new series' so it won't be a Solid or Rising. It'll probably be like AC!D, a new continuity or some side games or something.

I bet you this is going to go exactly the same as what happened with Halo and 343. It's going to be a well made game, but lack the soul that the previous ones had.
So remember this tweet the other day? Guess he meant more than just the chopper ;_;

i hope that guillermo hires kojima as a 'contractor' for silent hills. if the deal with konami and guillermo is still in place but he was parterning with hideo i don't see why he wouldn't bring hideo back in on some level (but not as a part of konami)
wishful thinking
[editline]21st March 2015[/editline]
i was just as excited for a hideo silent hill as i am for mgsv

I think kojamas just wants to be done with konami, spend some time with his son that only liked portable ops and then maybe return to the industry a few years down the way

He actually was
Power struggles between Kojima Productions and Konami have led the publisher to make drastic changes, including the employee status of its Metal Gear team. Some senior staff at the studio, including Kojima, now essentially work as contractors, not permanent employees.
He doesn't work for Konami anymore and it wasn't his decision AKA he was fired
The only reason he still has any ties to them (as a contractor, which means he's an outsider providing work for the company) is because he has to finish the game.
Kojima leaves in december
that means he's got all of November to work on Silent Hills! Get to it buddy!
I don't want half a Silent Hills. That's what hurts so damn much. He's been wanting to make it, the fans lost their shit for it...
PT garnered more attention for the Silent Hill brand than the last 2 games did.
Fans lost their collective mind hearing Kojima would finally be doing Silent Hill, and now... this is it.
In my restless dreams, I see that game.
Silent Hills.
You promised me you'd let me play it, but I never will.
Well, I'm alone here now. In our special place.
Waiting for you...
I guess we'll just have to shit our pants on our own now. Here's to you, Hideo... :v:
Only now I realized we're not getting any more silly shit like the time he played with a soundboard on stage
I'm sad, part of what made Kojima and his appearences great is that he didn't give a fuck
this news is like hearing Gabe leave Valve or Miyamoto leave Nintendo it just hurts my soul man.
The knowledte knowing that Kojima wants out of Metal Gear so bad and they're going to defile it's corpse Silent Hill style hurts even worse.
As much as I'm sad about Kojima leaving, it looks like MGS5 will be a high note to end the series on. Sure, MGS4 was supposed to do that, but unlike MGS4 where the whole game feels like Kojima was forced to do it, you can feel genuine excitement from Kojima making Phantom Pain. He even hired Kiefer to voice Big Boss which I think is a big investment and not something they would continue to do.
I wonder how much will Konami try to milk the franchise. Another MGR is welcome if and only if they hire Platinum Games again. Finally, I hope Silent Hills turns out alright.
I just hope MGSV is exactly the game Kojima wants, and Konami didn't censor taboo stuff or force him to end it on a more open note to squeeze out sequels
Forgive me if this is late, but Konami put out this statement.

really bad translation by konami, the original japanese version gramatically makes a point that metal gear solid is over to differentiate between spinoffs
#AHIDEOKOJIMAGAME has started picking up steam on Twitter, chastising Konami for the removal of the tagline

I don't know much about the situation yet, but the series is definitely my favorite and I hope things don't end up going south for Kojima.

HOLY SHIT I only played the remake like once years ago, did he seriously pull a gun on the guy?!
I hope this "new Metal Gear series" is at least given to a competent team. If it's just spinoffs, and doesn't touch the already established canon too much, then I won't be as pissed off.
Chances are though, it's going to be westernized as hell.
But whatever happens, I'm sticking by Kojima.
To be fair, Metal Gear Solid's become more and more westernized as the series went along. MGS1, 2 and 3 were full of weird or absolutely lengthy writing only Kojima can do, and then MGS4 started shifting the series towards modern shooters while simultaneously taking the writing to extreme lengths. MGS5 is pretty much as western as you can get to the point that it controls similarly to many TPS action games, and even has things like Marking, or the indicator of an enemy being aware of or spotting you.
Essentially Kojima's writing, the easter eggs or quirky humor, and the batshit plots/characters, even with their homages to film making or such, are the remaining bits of Japanese that really stick out like a sore thumb. But then that all is singehandedly also at least half the fun of the series.
