does anyone have any good reference for a pirate's blade?
I've searched on google but can't find any good ones :(
*nevermind*
I've searched again and found out its actually called a cutlass :P
found a sick looking one this time, modelling atm.
I drew some concept art for a Dwarven Relic sword.

I'm no modeler though, so if some sexy modeler can make it that would be cool.
[sp]That means you Eeshton.[/sp]
I like the idea of the hand guard, but it doesn't really fit in because it's so round and plain, while the rest of the sword is spikey, edgy and has other fancy stuff on it.
So if you could just redesign that part to make it fit in with the rest somehow, it would look much better I think.
Everything else looks great though.
And maybe make it slightly thinner and longer, so it's more like a rapier.

-Finished detailing the exterior of the pirate isle(I've yet to do some fine tuning)
-Created the basic layout of the interior of the pirate HQ
-About halfway done with the pirate HQ interior clutter
it's supposed to be 2h and look kinda rugged, because of its role in the story
Oh, I just thought it looked more like a one handed weapon. Then I'm not sure.
I couldn't think of anything more fancy and powerful looking than a giant 2 handed rapier. It of course isn't supposed to look just like a traditional rapier, but more like a mythical one.

The Divine Rapier in Dota2 has a fairly large blade as well.
I find Skyrim has a distinct lack of sickles and clubs. If these could be implemented long with spears im sure people would be happy.
Spears are throw able or not.
We'll need sickle weapon :v:
My current progress at the cutlass:

(please note that this is only the blade part so far)
I love this one. Maybe add some items like 2 daggers in the background or something.
Like this?

That was badly worded, i meant i'm making clubs and sickles on 3ds max and was wondering if you wanted them in this?

I say have them pointing down.

Yes.
looks very cool!
what brushes did you use there?
A charcoal brush.

love that
That's brilliant. Now we just need to apply a "linen-like" texture to it and it'l be all set.
So I've been lurking for a while, and I thought I'd step in to comment on the discussion of that dwarven blade. It's cool and everything, but it doesn't really have any logical "role" in the world of swords. Rapiers are used for A. Fancy, unarmored dueling and B. piercing joints and other weak spots in armored opponents. Making the blade wider and heavier makes it worse at both tasks, essentially making it a longsword with a small, flimsy hilt. I know that technical accuracy doesn't bother everybody, but I see a lot of talent in your concept art and I think you could design a much cooler looking and (theoretically) better performing weapon.
I'll attempt some more designs, possibly tomorrow.
Not sure if you guys need an amateur composer, but I could contribute some custom music and some stuff for bards if someone could the singing for me. These might work:

You wouldn't happen to have the music sheets for them would you? My friend's learning the piano and he loves the Elder Scrolls series, I'm sure he'd like to learn the second one at least.

I can write them later tonight; I'll send you the sheets when I'm done.
worked a bit more on the cutlass :)

also included a render (I'm not the best texturer, the handle needs some more detail imho)

Looks great son.
Ugh I wish I could just get over some schoolwork so I can work on this more already.
If we're still at it at may I can probably work several hours a day, all the work should be done by then.
But I still need to find a good worldspace tutorial :(

can you be sure to remove the smim textures if you put up a new content folder for us to DL?
Eh?
I think I'm done with the cutlass but I don't know how to test it ingame :(
Eh?
Have you read the last few pages?
A couple textures were ripped from another mod and should be removed.
I am not editing but when I downloaded the mod and tried to install through NMM I noticed some of the custom(?) textures that this mod comes with overwrites textures put in by the Static Mesh Improvement Mod,
textures\smim\clutter\metalwork01_brown_n.dds
textures\smim\clutter\signage\metalwork01_brown.dds
In fact, by examining the file structure, whoever put these in may have downright stole them from SMIM.
If these files are necessary, perhaps the mod should require SMIM be installed?

Ok, I did some investigating into the SMIM files that are in the mod. Apparently from what I can tell they were brought in by the BSA file that Oicani made a while back.
I really think we need to get rid of them and just use vanilla textures to avoid a major shitstorm with the Nexus further on down the road.

definitely
i probably ended up putting them in on accident
did a quick render with normalmaps and specular on:

I really need to find out how to test this in-game
