I tought we have have the basic idea yet?
The problem seems to be that it's too basic. Just a tiny extra push in the overall plan of the mod is what I think is needed.
I tought we have have the basic idea yet?
If we do then it's either not enough or scattered around this thread or not easily accessible through the OP.
Maybe we should have a separate thread to purely talking about the storyline of the main quest and side quests so we can have it all in one place.
Maybe we should have a separate thread to purely talking about the storyline of the main quest and side quests so we can have it all in one place.
Or we could just have a Steam group or something similar. Another Skyrim thread isn't a good idea.
Well I've been working on some backstory for the Pirate's Guild. Maybe you guys might like it:
A Comprehensive History to the Pirates of Luftahraan
Shortly before the colonization of the area which would one day be Luftahraan, a pirate lord named Dreadmund Black-Beard sailed the northern seas with a grand ship and many other pirates. Dreadmund had come to Skyrim shortly before the arrival of Ysgramor and the five hundred. From his arrival in Skyrim, Dreadmund sought mastery over the Sea of Ghosts and began his attacks on other ships. He plundered numerous pre-nordic vessels and raided them for gold and treasures. Over time, Dreadmund had amassed such a wealth that he was forced to bury it less his ship sink because of the treasure’s weight.
One day, while sailing the western coasts of Skyrim, Dreadmund came upon a small set of islands. His eyes gazed at the fruitful and wild lands with a spark. He landed on the island and began to bury a small amount of his treasure there; “as insurance for damages” he told his men. Dreadmund then set sail once more, acquiring more treasure, only to return to the island in order to bury it. Twenty-six years had passed and Dreadmund had developed a name for himself as a dread pirate, and indeed many feared the cross bones of his ship’s flag. Dreadmund realized that his days were numbered, so he set forth back to the island and after dividing some of his treasure amongst his men, buried the rest of it on the island. Dreadmund then set off for his final conquest. Dreadmund would never make it. Near the Luftahraan coast, an assassin had boarded Dreadmund’s boat and set it on fire. Dreadmund and the assailant then held a great duel on the burning ramparts of the boat, where both Dreadmund and the assassin were killed. The boat sank into the sea, right next to Luftahraan.
The Late Third Age then came, and after many years, the legend of Dreadmund had begun to rise up once more. There were stories and rumors of buried treasure hidden on the coasts of Luftahraan. Then came a time in which many boats led by sailors, pirates, and bandits came to Luftahraan to find the treasure. All attempts had failed in either disaster, mutiny, starvation, scurvy, or in boredom. Eventually, the legend of Dreadmund’s treasure was seen as folly and was beginning to be regarded as a tall tale for the high seas. Then came the pirate lord Tiberius Scarface, who accepted the challenge of finding Dreadmund’s treasure. In 433 Third Era, Tiberius set off with a fleet of three ships to find Dreadmund’s treasure. His first ship, the Lusty Argonian, was wrecked by a storm near Solitude, while his third ship, the Divine was set off course and sank somewhere on the coasts of High Rock. The second ship, the very ship that Tiberius had been using, the Champion, had arrived in Luftahraan on the first of the Fourth Era.
Then Tiberius emerged from his ship, and cried to his men, “By Amrok we strike the earth!” Words that were deemed incomprehensible became renowned. For months the pirates began digging for Dreadmund’s treasure. Months became years, and just as Tiberius was ready to return home, he was met with a discovery that would lead to an evolution in Luftahraan. Tiberius’s men had found a single gold pouch; eighteen gold coins were found. These findings were recounted throughout the land, and men and women from far throughout Tamriel set off in ships to head to Luftahraan.
By this time, Tiberius and his men had begun the foundations for the Pirates Guild. They began with a tavern, and as more and more people arrived, the building was expanded. Years passed and then centuries. The thought of Dreadmund’s treasure had not passed but the guild itself had evolved from that single purpose. There at Luftahraan, the pirates use the guild as a base of operation.

Awesome storyline! Though I think it should start a little after Ysgramor landed, not before. Also:

Finally going to start recording. For files do I need anything besides the BSA wheeze's latest upload has?
Facepunch needs to start a modding community after this, I think you guys could shit on the majority of skyrimnexus.
Well I've been working on some backstory for the Pirate's Guild. Maybe you guys might like it:
I'd think of something but I think we may have the perfect backstory for this guild.
It's generally established that the leader of Luftahraan is a vampire, right? Maybe he could have once been a traveler/pirate on Tiberius's ship and eventually helped form and lead the city. He could have many concubines, some of which he feeds on, and will claim that his great great grandfather was on the ship. Only later will the player find out the truth. He could also claim that he secludes his "son" to train him to become the next leader, and when the appropriate number of years pass, he would fake his death, there would be a grand funeral, and he would unveil himself as the trained son (with some minor visual alterations ofc).
Wow, that's great. Feel free to use my list and adapt it to the graph. It would look a lot better.

So if we are unable to physically edit, IE console gamer, we can still post suggestions on the thread right?
Yup.

You should add that your self. Those google docs are amazing, anybody with permission can edit and it updates in real time.
I have already added all the characters that you made on to the google doc. With description.

Really? What would the name of that group be then?
Oh and I have made a cell in an outside esp.
I was thinking that if I load skyrim.esm, luftahraan.esp and "myMod".esp.
I could load luft as active and copy the cell?
EDIT: Well i tried to copy it and it worked. You get a precise copy of the cell. But I think that if your cell is full of references to other cells and stuff then it will be quiet a hassel to copy it over.
Wanted to voice something. Went to that google docs list and picked:
• M'raaj-Dar "Khajiit pirate captain who desires to marry Sherina"
Was on skype with two friends and his character evolved into a bad poet who almost entirely speaks in rhymes :v:.
What we got after 30 minutes: (That's first takes on everything, no noise reduction yet, wanted to get your opinions before I continued. Also I don't know how to do dialog so if I continue someone else would have to add it in-game.)
http://soundcloud.com/xane225/mraaj-dar-poet-in-skyrim]
M'raaj-Dar: Could I borrow some of your time to bounce my rhymes off your mind?
Player: That couldn't possibly be worth my time. (PLAYER LEAVES)
I suppose I could spare a moment.(CONTINUE)
By day, I master a vessel, by night, it is with words I nestle.
It is for sherina my affection, that I strive for poetic perfection
Who is Sherina?
To explain a beautiful so vast, is like piloting a ship with no mast. Let my heart take the wheel and describe how I feel.
Sherina, Oh dear Sherina
The blossoms, wilt in your path
Oh, if thy would just cast a look
For you, Even I would bath
I am your fish, You are my hook
My one, My true, sherina
The ground quakes with every stride
My heart trembles, at your glance
In the shadows, I always hide
For you, I plead just a chance
Sherina, my true light, Sherina
Not a mirror can last your sight
I long to anchor into your marina
To carry you, would take all my might
Oh, dear Sherina, My life, My love, My Sherina
[editline]3rd April 2012[/editline]
And yes he did just call her fat three times, foul smelling once and ugly twice. He's a very bad poet. :v:

The DF reference is just a joke, and there aren't any Oblivion references. I'm strictly following actual lore to tie it in.
The pirate base could be a wrecked pirateship which got there in a storm?
I think I covered that? I was maybe thinking it be the actual ship of Tiberius, but these are just ideas.

This is brilliant. Very good voice acting.
I just want to start making a quest for this guy just to see a character come to life for once in this project
Also, I was digging around, and I was thinking maybe the beginning of this might work as like an ambient, walk around the city outskirts, kind of track:

Hi!
I've been following this project for few weeks now and I really like where this is going. So I would like to help as much as I can. Sadly enough, I've lost all my skills with the creation kit (It's been a few years since I used it, and when I did I was quite young.)
However I might have some other skills that can help this project. If you guys are interested I have wiped together a small history of the pirate guild, it's... What's the correct word But don't take it to serious, I wrote this between 1 am and 3 am... So there might be a lot of errors. It's just a few ideas I had, and a lot of the names are just placeholders. Use it, don't use it, you do as you wish, just my 2 cents. I haven't really had any time to clean it up I just wanted to post it, since I'm not going to be home to night. So I hope that I've got some really mean criticism till tomorrow, so that I can improve. ;)

I also have some basic knowledge of music production if anyone needs any custom music/ambient music for their dungeon, for whatever reason. Sadly my computer can't do bigger projects... Damn thing can't even handle Skyrim. But just ask and I will see what I can do.
http://soundcloud.com/jonathan-moray/sets/luftahraan
If anything I could work with the Voice Actors, not as an actor (I fucking hate my voice...) but as an audio engineer. I could clean up the vocals, de-ess, de-noise, or whatever.
I used to do 3D / Design stuff before but I don't think I can be of much use now...
So yeah that's my basic presentation. I also go to school so I have a lot to do there as well, but hopefully I can be of some use.And I get what Wheeze is saying, before he can move on with the island we have to figure out what it is. Not the back story but the story for it now. For example, are they gonna be keeping slaves on the island or somewhere else? Are the treasures going to be kept on the island or are they buried in a chest somewhere? And this goes for all the districts of Luftahraan. So that's probably priority #1 if you want some structure in Luftahraan. Even though I like the structure as of now. (:
As I said this is just my two cents.
Edit:
Oh I see some people have already written some great stories about the island. I really like the name though Dreadmund Black-Beard, even if Black Beard is such a cliché. ;)

It sounds very nice.
It's just that I'm worried that it might sound kind of weird when playing skyrim because the music in skyrim obviously uses a real orchestra.

I like you. You're very talented.
I would LOVE if you could do some voice enhancements (the evil voice effect thing you did seems like to could be very useful)
If you can write quests then that would be awesome as well. I'm guessing you probably can write quests since they are, from what I understand, easier then creating a backstory/lore/history.
And I really like the samples you made. Especially First Sight and Trapped in a cellar(which sounds like an interesting quest idea)
Well thank you! You're very talented as well!
The good thing about if one person were to manage the voices, is that all the effects of the voices will be consistent. So that the effects are pretty much the same.
Quest shouldn't be a problem. But if someone can just get the ball rolling it would be easier, because it's the beginning that's hard. But I'll give it a try.
Yes "Trapped In a Cellar" was actually inspired by the quest you talked about where the player gets poisoned. ;)
Also vizard38, if you listen to some of Jeremy Souls tracks you will see that the tracks where the player walks around are quite simple. It's very rare for them to have a full fledged theme going on. But if you come up with a great theme you could sent it to me and I might be able to bring a little realism/life into. I'll post an example later. :)

Right now I am very focused on the pirate island and it is what I know most about in luftahraan so I hope I can get you to work primarily on the pirate island if that is not a problem with my "co-workers"/"Colleagues".
But what I need right now is the first couple of quests that let the player join the pirate faction. With dialogue for each character.
What I know of the guild so far is that we have 2 ideas as a backstory. I like yours better but I don't know if I can be the one that decides which story I want to use.
I'd like to use your story but change some stuff like names and such. But what I know is that the Luftahraan, of course, is not owned by the Legion or the stormcloaks. It's a free city. So what oskutin(I think) suggested is that the pirate guild would be in some sort of business with the luftahraan "government"(or whatever we want to call it). Sort of like the thieves guild but they don't have to hide from the guards, but they aren't openly allowed in the city and should keep to their little island.
The pirates answer to 1 captain and his audience should be worked for and not easily obtainable.(Basically the captain shouldn't just walk up to the player and say "hey brah, join my guild".)
The player can access the island through a small boat on the luftahraan port(I can make boats that teleport the player when he uses it).
TL;DR: I need a way to start the guild. I'd like to start working on the quest line for the pirate island.
EDIT: Oh and if you sometime get a little far into the quest-line then try to incorporate a quest where the player goes to a sunken underwater ship. (I'm excited to start creating a dungeon like that)

Stream: http://www.twitch.tv/wheeze202
I've been thinking about those sort of things, so I have a basic idea, sadly I didn't write it down... But I figure it out again and post it. But I won't post anything until very late.
Just build the ship and I change the story to fit it. There could be something like the dragon I talked about has a lair under the ship where there is a entrance to somewhere under the ground. And the dragon protects the treasurer and Black Beard is a ghost or whatever. I'll be back later
Do anyone know how to change keybindings (in the creation kit)?
My mouse middlekey dont work when i press it.
No one answered my question: Do I just insert the zip into NMM to try out Luft or do I need to do something with the bsa?
No one answered my question: Do I just insert the zip into NMM to try out Luft or do I need to do something with the bsa?
Well yes. Just dump it into NMM and activate, but there are some problems with the area.
It could work but i dont know.
Wheeze, you said in your steam you wanted people to start writing quests. Do you mean in the creation kit? Or would it be helpful for someone with no knowledge of the creation kit, (me) to make an outline of an entire quest, write up the dialogue and voice it?
Here's my take on the Pirate's Guild initiation. If there are any issues with it let me know. I'd really like to contribute something.

Here's some dialogue that might work for like, when you're passing a pirate.
Pirate 1: So there I was, ready to bust an arrow into her, if ye know what I mean.
Pirate 2: Right and?
Pirate 1: So I was ready, and I plundered her vessel and broke into her jewels.
Pirate 2: Mighty treasure, was there warm milk as supplement?
Pirate 1: No but by the gods did I have a feast in her.
Pirate 2: Claiming your treasure and then burying the load; just like a pirate.
Pirate 1: Indeed.
