It's god awful that they lock the best stuff behind 'legendaries' that only skin unlockers and the extremely lucky/rich will be able to experience at all though to be honest. It's worse when it's a limited safe, but the alternative is people with poor impulse control buying key after key for a slim chance at those (admittedly really cool) unique modifications.

I've done some thinking and I think a good way to make a better system, without removing crates altogether, would be to have sub-mint condition skins have a chance to drop at the end of heists, with only guaranteed mints being available in safes, to justify the key cost a little more. If it were up to me as well, I'd have the unique mods on sub-legendary/rare skins, with killstreak/kill/special kill counters being the legendary hook. That way more people get to enjoy the cool mods, and those who care about bragging rights (which seems to be half the point of limited cosmetics), can gamble all their money away for legendaries. You can enjoy the game and get low quality skins with better stuff being available with RNG, maybe higher drop rates based on play time if OVK want to be that way. Maybe make mints only available from safes if they're worried about key sales, and then when you get a skin, if you like it there's the temptation to buy a safe/buy it in mint off the market.
I feel dirty trying to fix Overkill's money machine. Also this only really works when the skins are worth owning sub-mint condition, which in my experience is not the case. Seriously, I know it's not supposed to look [I]great[/I] but it should still look good, even if worn.

Well I don't want it, but they've got to sell legendaries somehow, and I'd really rather not have all the best modifications locked away for that.
Perhaps they can have zany particle effects instead, something that will crash games and lower FPS so regular players know how elite the guy who owns it is for spending so much money.
So, for the longest time, Goon Mod's mod shop has been acting up and it won't give me the option to purchase weapon mods or anything anymore, unless its a mask/material/pattern/color. Is there a way to fix not being able to buy gun parts?

I'd honestly just have that
Just follow Valve's TF2 route and just have weapons with particle effects
Hell make it have some effect on shots
You could probably for example have ice themed effects on Xmas safe Legendaries
I can safely say after an hour of listening to techno jingle bells on loop, throwing a hundred bags, and killing over 400 people
this was all worth my efforts

If you have the Unused Weapon Mods mod it makes it so you cannot buy any weapon mod/stat boost with gage coins.
