I'm giving away three copies of A Merry Payday Christmas Soundtrack. The first ten Useful, Dumb and Informative ratings will be entered into their own separate pools for a copy. Once we've got everything we need, I'll start to work on that vault door, so we can sleigh some bad guys.

Recently, I thought about starting to talk like Payday 2 characters just for fun.
Today, for example, I was playing as Sokol. Now, there was an AFK player in the lobby, who wouldn't press Ready so we could get the mission going. So I said to him, Sokol-style:

For some odd reason there's only a cheek burn for the right side of the face and not the left, so you'll have to deal with it having a bit of a gap
I tried covering it up a bit by applying a different texture type on his face

Even though Fallout 4 forces me into the good guy seat, i still make Jimmy here take his way out of situations

I don't mind the safes and drills and I happily buy into them, but when I get two of the same skin twice in a row I get pissed that they chose this system.
If anyone wants to do a 1 for 1 trade of a battle-word Quckdrawn Hunter Bronco skin, I'm up for it. (Tradeable after the 30th??)

The two companies are so closely related I really don't think the distinction is that important. Almir is the Global Brand Director of Starbreeze as well as the Producer of Payday. This really doesn't seem like the case of a greedy publisher abusing a developer and squeezing the product for cash against their will.
There hasn't been any reported resistance against the direction Payday has taken from anybody at Overkill. I'm not trying to hate on any OVK people, they all seem like good people in my limited experience of them, and the game is obviously one that we all share a passion for. It's something they should take pride in.
But can we please stop with this whole, 'it's not Overkill's fault, it's those boring suits up at Starbreeze HQ! Ruining our fun with their profit margins and nickel and dime tactics!' routine? The Starbreeze CEO is Bo Andersson Klint, one of the founders of Overkill. Their thinking and goals are completely aligned, it's not Maxis and EA or any other game dev sob story you can think of. Overkill are fine with this.
If Overkill really was forced to this and didn't want it, i am pretty sure they would've tried to detach from Starbreeze or Almir wouldn't seem so confident and go as far as to ruin his reputation :v:

That isn't to say that i don't stil have a bit of faith in Overkill
They still provide good content, they can still have good times happen
It's everyone fault's really, both Overkill and Starbreeze.
Someone, somewhere, wanted to start a gigantic business with one product, which is pretty risky.
Someone else, somewhere, wanted to continue working on their only product, which is also pretty risky.
When the product started to slow down a bit, everyone decided not to drop it but to sacrifice part of the consumers for profits to be able to still grow as a business while keeping the game supported.
Can we really blame them for wanting to grow as a company ? Not really, most companies always want to grow, to offer bigger, better products and be more comfortable with their business.
Can we blame them for going for more profits ? Yeah, sure, some people aren't gonna like it but... not like they had a choice ; growing requires money and their product wasn't selling enough. They couldn't continue growing while making less and less money.
Personally, I think skins are cool. Sure I would have preferred them to be free but I'd also like all of their DLC to be free.. It's not reasonable of me to expect such a thing so I have to deal with paying for my product.
I love that the game is still supported after so long. I'd love it if more companies went that way and supported their games for longer. Unfortunately, that often means paying more for the product.
